New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie suspended his presidential campaign.
He's going to be Trumps AG.
Hello.
Good call.
That's what I always figured he was angling for. It's a natural fit. (Insert fat joke)
Talk about your big government. They'll need to reinforce that office.
When he sits around the statism, he sits around the statism.
As long as he doesn't get stuck in a tub, like President and Supreme Court Justice William Howard Taft. They actually have said tub in his half brother's former home, which is an art museum in Cincinnati.
That car? You don't own it:
EPA Seeks to Prohibit Conversion of Vehicles into Racecars
[?]
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a regulation to prohibit conversion of vehicles originally designed for on-road use into race cars.
[?]
The proposed regulation was contained within a non-related proposed regulation entitled "Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles?Phase 2."
http://theshopmag.com/news/epa.....s-racecars
Can you say 'slimy'? I can?
My miata IS a racecar. Fuck the EPA.
What's your take on the 2016 Miata?
I haven't driven one. But it looks like the most fun lightweight sports cars imaginable. On paper it doesn't seem like much, but it outtracks and handles the Subaru BRZ while being considerably better at taking it's top off. Going 100 mph in a miata basically feels like 150+ in anything else. I'd really like to own a 10 year old one that was owned by a paralegal or something.
Let the chicks, gays, and retirees by them new and I'll scoop up the most fun-to-drive thing as a toy when the depreciation has fully set in.
The old Miata has an incredible reputation. I suspect that's why they brought it back. If it still has the magic I may look into it.
The recent one has been favorably compared to the first edition (mine is a 1993). They weigh close to the same (~2300 lbs) and the new one gives you an extra 45hp. If reliability is anything like mazda's past record it should be fine to own. The Elise is a whole 'nother cost bracket. It's going to be 70 and sunny where I live this weekend. If I don't ski, I will roadster.
Did...did someone just say Miata was a racecar!?
RACECAR
Miata spec racing is a great place to start racing (if you're a girl).
Neons are good starter race cars. Both have higher levels of handling as compared to their levels of power.
There you go, playing the race card
(polite applause)
That should clarify culture war underneath the carbon costume for a few more derps to finally see.
No shit.

It's Ars. They are as Proggie statist as any website on the internet. Their only redeeming quality is their technical stories that have no possible political angle. If it's got any political angle, the tilt to the articles is noticeable. And occasionally there will even be a political comment dropped in on a completely non-political subject, just because that's the way they roll.
True. This one just rubbed me rawer than most.
Pinky Tuscadero is sad...
What about Leather?
I did just did the "thigh slap."
What scumfucks.
We're talking about - at best - a few thousand vehicles. this isn't some fucking 'danger to the environment'. Its just the EPA fucking with people so they can tell their greeny cronies that they fucked those combustion-engine-loving people *good*
A few thousand - most of which spend a lot of time disassembled while the weekend gearhead slowly tinkers away for years.
"This proposed regulation represents overreaching by the agency, runs contrary to the law and defies decades of racing activity where EPA has acknowledged and allowed conversion of vehicles," said Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. "Congress did not intend the original Clean Air Act to extend to vehicles modified for racing and has re-enforced that intent on more than one occasion."
This is the regulatory envelope-pushing that SCOTUS has allowed with their god-awful "deference" crap.
The government of Delaware formally apologized for slavery.
How about an apology for Biden?
Interesting. Usually the reason govenments like to avoid these apologies is because it attracts the reparations hyenas.

Since he was born in Scranton, they're still fighting with Pennsylvania over who has to claim him.
He was actually born in a steel factory in Scranton. The foreman delivered him on the factory floor.
Not a gay steel mill, then.

Where you been, Rhywun? Entire steel industry's gay, yeah, aerospace too, and the railroads, and you know what else? Law enforcement.

And before that it was part of Sweden.

We have enough problems in Scranton, Delaware can take the hit on this one. We may have produced him, but they were the ones dumb enough to elect him.
Would you say you have a couple two tree problems?
I'm tinkin it'sa kupple too tree, hayna?
We drove through Scranton on our road trip. I bought a shirt at Coney Island Lunch after some Texas wieners.
Where were you coming from and going to that Scranton got in the way? Coney Island Lunch is a pretty good place for a quick lunch, so at least you got a decent meal out of it.
Boston to Pittsburgh, returning to LA
That would take you close to Scranton, yeah. Sorry you had to experience that.
Wait a second... Delaware? But they were in the slavery-hating Union....
Yawn. Wake me up when the religion of peace is as peaceful as Buddhism.

I laughed. Also, I like her style.
Just marry her already.
Things that make me go hmmmmmm: Why are the people most likely to instruct others on who they should be fucking are invariable old/fat/ugly/unattractive? The exception is porn stars who want everyone else fucking everything else because misery loves company.
Really attractive people rarely tell others who they should be have sex with least they draw attention to themselves.
I don't think you should fuck me.
Pretty sure you're referring to the writer, BUT, I'd rate myself as mostly fuckable. I was also telling CJ to marry the writer, not you. You're from NJ!
I was referring to the writer. Telling Crusty to marry her precludes any fucking because marriage.

She saw Bernie getting the vag vote.

I think we've got a whole new slogan there.

Zero regret for gun-grabbing Fatso.
I will miss Fiorina.
I will half-miss her. She had chops, took on Hillary, and I liked her take on some issues. But in the end she stuck to too many Republican-generic ideas and faded into the wallpaper. She should retool her platform and come out swinging next time.
And smile more.

County Sheriff is pleading guilty to a single county? Well I guess his jurisdiction didn't extend any further.

Saw your beer comment. We had Ommegang Hennepin at a Mexican resto in Cooperstown in the fall and enjoyed it very much.
It is good stuff.
Mexican food outside of a border state? Gross.
Colorado actually has some decent Mexican food. I guess because when people get to New Mexico they just want to keep going.
Chicago reputedly has the best in the US. I don't eat that beaner shit so I wouldn't know personally.
Citation fucking needed. LA has the best, hands down. No citation needed.
(Mexico actually has the best, but best you gringos never figure that one out.)
Chicago's is horribly overrated, LA doesn't have the best anything. Houston has the best Mexican food in the US, which is why we gun-toting racists tolerate some Mexicans. Colorado is a distant second, but palatable. Cozumel has the best in the world.
Did you just cite a ridiculous tourist destination as having the best in the world? You should've at least said M?rida. How are their salsas? It's near Quintana Roo, on the Yucat?n, so habanero should be prevalent and heavy. If you say "I don't care too much for spicy," you can stick your head in an oven. And their cochinita? Show your work. Texas is known for its barbacoa, but the taco scene there is crap. LA has the best. Our diverse Mexican population beats everywhere else. Best salsa, best tortillas, best seasoned meat, in ALL the U.S. En punto, cabron. No me chinges aqu? guey.
Mexico, yes. But LA?.. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!... Ha hah ha ha ha ha ha! *cough* *gurgle* Ha ha ha ha ha! The only thing LA out-does everywhere else is in attitude and the road time needed to get to anything almost decent.
Pssh. Not even close.
None of your opinions are valid. My stance remains.

Rand Paul Was Always Bullshit
All along, the myth of Rand Paul (and of his dad, That Weird Elf-Kid From Legend If He Got Old And Was Super-Duper Racist) basically has been as follows: The right's obsession with waging wars both cultural and, uh, military had underserved/was underserving/is underserving traditional conservative principles of limited government, fiscal discipline, and individual liberty. This has alienated a body of smart, skeptical, rational people, who can't be pandered to with anti-intellectual horseshit or roped into culture-war signaling or rallied around whatever the next great unnecessary foreign war might happen to be, but who also mistrust liberalism's notions of an empowered, activist government fixing people's problems. These people were fundamentally conservative, the myth goes?more so along certain axes than their Christian-right brethren, even?and the Republican Party lost them in its rush to solidify the South. These people, according to the myth, are the Pauls' constituency.
Anyway, fuck Rand Paul. If he believes his brand of conservatism is good for anybody but the powerful, he's an idiot, and if he doesn't, he's a fraud. The dais will have no shortage of either for him having been winnowed the fuck off it, and South Park fans don't vote anyway, at least not until you can cast your ballot via Reddit.
So Deadspin is into politics now?
They always were.
Ah. Haven't read it in years and years.
Don't start now. ESPN also has politics on their page, for some reason (I get it is because of Nate Silver, but I don't need that noise mucking up my sports).
I can't stand the writing style at Deadspin. It has this desperate "look how many times we say fuck" quality to it that is both obvious and grating.
I fucking agree 100 fucking percent.
Yeah. The only thing they do worth reading is the "Why your team sucks" NFL previews, and those are 80% fan comments.
Disliking Paul okay. But saying South Park sucks is going too far.
South Park used to be great.
It's pretty stale now.
Not last season it was. It was reinvigorated.
The most recent season was awful.
WE FIGHT AT DAWN!
No. Too early. Sunset!
But wear reflective gear in case it's too dark.
Disliking Paul okay.
Hey!
The crux of the problem the guy seems to have w/ South Park (which i've hardly ever watched) is that it sneers at "Political Correctness"...
..from the POV of 'privilege'
Is this guy's shtick just sort of a muscular, dudebro version of Gawker?
if he doesn't, he's a fraud
I don't think the author understands what "fraud" means...
He doesn't understand anything. He thinks South Park is in bed with Donald Trump.
Except for the fact that you know, they did an entire episode shitting on Trump.
And had Garrison basically fuck Trumpeau to death.
"If he believes his brand of conservatism is good for anybody but the powerful, he's an idiot"
I've yet to find any other brand of politics that was good for anybody but the powerful.
What even in the fuck is that? Talk about unhinged rambling.
It's a very Tony-esque argument.
It's just word salad to me. Even Tony can form a sentence that doesn't make me want to gouge my eyes out.
Don't read the comments. You've been warned.

The first part is, I agree. The second part seems like it was plagiarized from an old Tony post.

Too bad their Governor moved to New Hampshire.
I demand that January, April, June, August, September, November and December all be reduced to 29 days and for those ten days be added to February, which is Black History Month, as reparations for millennia of institutional discrimination by Imperial slave-owning tyrants. Also get rid of the Papist calendar that removed February from its rightful place as last month of the legal year (well sort of...) and eliminated three leap days in 400 years which is unacceptable discrimination against that month. And why not get rid of leap day too, isn't it convenient that Black History Month has a day created by a slave-owning imperialist tyrant? And rename July and August too.
September should be the seventh month. Is that so hard people?
We can think Numa Pompilius for that, or at least according to legend that is.
Numa Numa!
Eh, as long as you aren't advocating for the French Revolutionary calendar...Fuck metric time in the ear.

That's not metric time. Metric time is based upon seconds. If you aren't talking kilosecs or megasecs, then you are just a poser.
Black history should be its own month. Say. Blackuary? Or Blackpril.

China is buying gold
The Chinese are on a massive gold shopping spree.
China's government doesn't share exact figures, but the vast majority of gold heading into mainland China passes through Hong Kong, which does make its records public.
Gold imports to China have surged over 700% since 2010, according to the latest data from Hong Kong.
Exactly what China is doing with all that gold remains somewhat of a mystery. The increasingly wealthy Chinese are buying, but that doesn't explain all the jump in demand.
They must be making a ton of motherboards and other electronics...
Exchanging T-Bills for real money?
http://www.thenation.com/artic.....les-votes/
True but damn.
One thing that should probably be pointed out is that she brings up how bad crime was in black America in 1992, but doesn't mention that by the time Clinton left office, the murder rate had fallen 50% and a large percentage of the falling murder rate occurred in black inner cities.
If you're going to blame Clinton for every bad thing that happened to black people during his presidency, shouldn't you credit him with the massive decline in homicides too?
If you were rational and not a Prog retard sure. But if you were that, you wouldn't be writing for The Nation.
Also, she claims the problems in the inner cities began with Reagan basically, but completely neglects to mention that the increases in crime she's complaining about (as well as the growing problems with poverty and job losses) actually began in the 60's and 70's. All the really terrible projects people talk about were built in the 50's, 60's and 70's and many had been demolished before Reagan even took office.
Pruitt-Igoe was one of the worst projects this country has ever seen. It was built in 1954 and demolished in the mid-70's. Progressives have a hilarious tendency to totally ignore 30 years of urban decay that occurred before Reagan because then they'd have to acknowledge it wasn't caused by the resurgence of small government conservatism.
Progs have at times expressed this bizarre notion that everything between 1933 and 1981 was perfectly fine until Reagan came along. Never mind that this includes the 1950s, 'Nam, Nixon and Segregation and that I am pretty much no one in the 1970s believed themselves in some utopia. The British Left express similar attitudes when attacking Thatcher as well.
I remember watching Yankees - Red Sox games in the 70's when the Bronx was burning. Good times.
Look at the subheading: "?From the crime bill to welfare reform, policies Bill Clinton enacted?and Hillary Clinton supported?decimated black America."
Seriously?
Its the Nation. So of course even if they get it right, they do so for utterly retarded reasons.
Well crime went down, but more people went to prison. I'm not sure if one out every ten black Americans went to prison but if they could be close.
One in six black men had been incarcerated as of 2001. If current trends continue, one in three black males born today can expect to spend time in prison during his lifetime.
So this NAACP organization says it's probably even better than decimation. Though I don't think it's fair to put all the blame on the Clintons. I mean we had two Bushes!
And Reagan and also Nixon. The War on Drugs is really a wonderful, wonderful thing.
Oh, plus people who get fucked in places like Ferguson by continuously getting nailed with fines they can't pay, after which they go to prison for non-payment. That's always sweet too.
You know who else went down in the Clinton administration?
Bob Dole?
Vince Foster?
Ron Brown?
Pennsylvania ought to demand The Wedge back in exchange for Biden.

Obama Seeks Compromise, Greater Comity in Government....Wonders Why He Can't At Least Get A Few Hundred Billion in New Taxes Passed Before He Leaves Office
I really wish he would talk louder about the $10 barrel tax. It would be fun to see if the Comrade and the Crook denounce their President.
Seriously. The media has been wonderfully helpful keeping this abomination off the front page because everyone knew he was spitballing. But there's nothing like Democrats being all like "I WILL BE OBAMA 2.0" while Obama is desperately throwing new tax ideas out there like its going out of style.
"I really wish he would talk louder about the $10 barrel tax. "
What's really amazing is the belief that the $10 tax won't be passed onto the consumer. Yes, as stupid as that is, I've heard people insist it's true.
The $10/barrel tax is about a $0.25 per gallon tax. I wonder why he doesn't called a $0.25 per gallon tax?
"I wonder why he doesn't called a $0.25 per gallon tax?"
The former suggests he's taxing oil companies. The latter admits it will be passed onto consumers.
and its $.23 i think
A barrel of crude gives about 12 gallons of diesel and 19 of gasoline.
So if the $10.00 is split evenly, it would be $0.32 per gallon.
The only reason the Republicans won't give him everything he wants is because they are racist. If the country wasn't so racist and unreasonable, there would never have been a single bad thing happen during his administration
The report said that the administration was planning to cull struggling freshmen from the institution as part of an effort to improve retention numbers ? a big factor in rankings published in outlets like U.S. News & World Report ? and that the university's president, Simon Newman, had used disturbing language to sell the idea to a skeptical professor last fall.
"This is hard for you because you think of the students as cuddly bunnies, but you can't," Mr. Newman is quoted as saying. "You just have to drown the bunnies."
He added, "Put a Glock to their heads."
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02......html?_r=0
This guy might be America's greatest college president.
"Mr. Newman declined a request for an interview through a spokesman, but he has apologized for his choice of words and explained that his retention proposal was intended to help students at risk of academic failure and possibly suffocating debt."
The fact that he's acknowledging this problem and saying he wants to take drastic action about it makes me inclined in his favor, but I'd like to know if he respected the contractual rights of the people he fired.
Speaking of Leap Day, it actually isn't February 29, at least not originally...maybe. It was February 25...or 24. It's complicated.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/February_29
The leap day was introduced as part of the Julian reform. The day following the Terminalia (February 23) was doubled, forming the "bis sextum"?literally 'double sixth', since February 24 was 'the sixth day before the Kalends of March' using Roman inclusive counting (March 1 was the 'first day'). Although exceptions exist, the first day of the bis sextum (February 24) was usually regarded as the intercalated or "bissextile" day since the third century.[2] February 29 came to be regarded as the leap day when the Roman system of numbering days was replaced by sequential numbering in the late Middle Ages.

Right. Because the recovery was sub-par because Yellen hiked by .25 in December. The anemic recovery has nothing to do with unprecedented levels of debt, NIRP for 80 months and QE after years of bubble blowing by Greenspan and Bernanke.
By the by, I still haven't heard one analysis if the Fed has even successfully hit their .25 target, seeing as they can't raise interest rates by raising interest rates any more. Did they hit .25? Did they overshoot and is it effectively 19%?
It is messed up. Nothing makes sense any more at the lower bound. Yields on Treasuries didn't respond as expected while internationally liquidity was negatively hit (dollar shortage).
I liked this:
From zerohedge.
After screwing up our economy with shitty Keynesian policy, they'll double-down and attempt outright theft.
And Bernie kissed Sharpton's ring. Because he wants to show that he won't tolerate support from rich, corrupt, and bigoted folks with blood on their hands.
He's gotta reach out to the ministers. I'm repeatedly hearing Hillary has a lock on that shit.
You forgot the scare quotes. "Ministers."
they were implied.
Jeremy Clarkson says anyone who buys a manual transmission is 'mad'
Heretic! Burn him!
I mean, he has a point an all, especially in rush hour traffic, but... see if he floats, then cleanse him with fire.
Dude, I have 4 hours a day in bumper to bumper Chicago traffic. Fuck manuals.
Meh, the manual transmission is a bit like releasing records on vinyl. Automatic transmissions especially in high-performance cars have become sophisticated enough that you just don't really need it.
I agree with Clarkson.
They are fun to drive. It is also fun to have a car that few people under 25 can drive. It is kind of a built in anti-theft feature. Driving a manual is like being able to ride a horse or use a slide ruler, one of those archiac skills that are a pleasure to have.
I love manual transmissions but Jersey has too much traffic. When I move to Tasmania, I'm getting a car with a stick.
They were fun to drive when I was 21 and lived in flyover country where the freeways were long and empty.
Exactly right. They are more fun to drive. I just bought a new (to me) car. Took forever to find the one I wanted because I had to have a manual. I was explaining to the sales person why I prefer one "When you drive a manual, you engage your entire body in the act of driving". That's why it is more fun for me.
People who would buy a gearstick manual "are the sort who choose not to have a washing machine because they prefer to clean their clothes in the local river," he continued.
the more I read the more I agree.
There still is not an automatic transmission that transfers as much power to the ground or gets as much efficiency as a standard. I understand why people buy automatics, but don't shit on something just because you're too much of a lazy cunt to use it.
I thought the really high end double clutch automatics were better than manuals these days?
There still is not an automatic transmission that costs less than $10,000 that transfers close to as much power to the ground or gets as much efficiency as a standard. I understand why people buy automatics, but don't shit on something just because you're too much of a lazy cunt to use it. There are a few high end double clutch automatics that are close, but nothing that has consistently beat a good driver in a standard.
I choose my battles and this is one of them. I row my own gears.
My mother would have washed our clothes on a rock by the river had she been able to get away with it. She too was convinced that washing machines just weren't as good as the old ways.
I learned on an automatic and drove them exclusively until I picked up my first stick 2 years ago. I can say that I don't have any interest in going back. It was frustrating as hell at first (dammit, I just want to *go*, not think about this damn process), but now that I'm used to it, I like it.
However, I do avoid traffic like the plague. Not that I didn't before, but it's especially bad with a stick. City driving is bad, too. I went 18 months without burning any clutch, until I had to drive in downtown Baltimore.
Fuck CUDA and fuck memory coalescence. Stupid shit is preventing me from leaving and squatting and bench pressing.
Here, this is fun.
Not music.

Bernie Sanders idiocy...we are so screwed if he wins
http://prospect.org/article/fa.....payer-plan
Originally the Sanders campaign 324B in savings on drugs a year....the UNITED STATES SPENT 305B on drugs in 2014
They have now revised the savings NOW TO 241B
I was reading a few articles at various locations regarding how he would tax the middle class (zerohedge whatever that is) and his fantasy single player plan (spectator.org).
His devout followers swarm the comments and just repeat the same talking points he has used over and over and over.
What is the psychology of these type of people? Cognitive dissonance? Their weird desire for a savior and free unicorns?
It boggles my mind how stupid they are
I think they have never learned how to think and have lost the ability to think rationally, if they ever had it. They really do think words are magic and if you just say the right words, reality will conform.
I would say they are real life versions of Nigel Tufnel in Spinal Tap telling the narrator "but this one goes to 11".
"Here's one stunning detail: When the Sanders campaign released its plan, it estimated $324 billion in annual savings on prescription drugs?until Thorpe noted that the United States spent only $305 billion for that purpose in 2014. "
Well now, that's a Plan crafted by some Top Men.
HuffPo gonna HuffPo:
A Vote for Hillary Is a Vote for Hope -- New Hampshire Voters Miss the Mark
It's 2016, and while England, Germany, Denmark, Chile, Argentina, India and even Pakistan have elected women heads of state, we still haven't even nominated a woman for our highest office. With Hillary Clinton, we have a female candidate who not only has a stronger resume than that of any of her rivals in either party, but who is firmly committed ensuring equal pay for women, and who has been uniquely outspoken on the impact that women have on the economy.

So the interests of women are the only interests that count in this country.
Well, one very narrow interest of women, anyway.
I suppose that several lesbians also agree with your interpretation, WcP.
...I have no idea what this means.
"... one very narrow interest of women...." vis a vis "I suppose that several lesbians also agree with your interpretation...."
Ahem...
The "Altar of Venus"
"Nature's treasury"
"Narrows of Wonder"
"Lady's low toupee"
"Venerable monosyllable"
I'll have to ask what other phrases are currently in use (or even if these actually are) from someone, when she's available.
Electing a woman shows that the country as a whole has reached a certain level of enlightenment.
By 'stronger Resume' they're referring to her lengthy experience with DC corruption and cronyism?
A Vote for Hillary Is a Vote for Hope
Is this gonna be Hillary's insipid tagline? Hope? Hope and Same?
Her staffers experience the same gender pay gap that the country does. Apparently, Rana doesn't do her homework.
Don;t worry the DNC has taken care of the chance an old white socialist could win.

Did anyone there reference or provide video of British Entertainer Derren Brown's "The Assassin"?

If Delaware sincerely meant the apology, they'd abolish all their taxes and trade restrictions.

Yes, pretty funny.
