Watch Matt Welch Talk Trump and Muslims and Terrorism and Civil Liberties on Tonight's Kennedy
Be there at 8 p.m. ET, with a midnight re-run, on Fox Business Network
You may have heard that GOP frontrunner Donald Trump has made some unusual proposals as regards Muslims stepping foot into the United States. I will be debating the practicality of those proposals on tonight's Kennedy (Fox Business Network, 8 p.m. ET), along with co-panelists Gavin McInnes and Jedediah Bila. There will also be discussion about the political climate for threatening social media companies, and the desirability of creating new animals!

Welch, Kennedy, McInnes and Bila? Add a bottle of scotch, and you have TV GOLD!
Great. Gavin discussing anything having to do with Muslims. I can't wait for the shitshow to begin.
Rush Limbaugh was pointing out today that what Trump proposes is legal according to 8 U.S. Code ? 1182 - "Inadmissible aliens" which reads:
There is another part of that law that reads:
It is still a bigoted thing to do, but apparently legal as sea salt. As far as Islam is a totalitarian party, it is legal under that section as well.
In 1979 Jimmy Carter used a similar act to stop Iranians from coming here, required those already here to report and fill out some questionnaires, and sent about 7,000 of them back to Iran. So there is precedent for restricting immigration based on nationality.
Basing that "class" off of religion would violate the First Amendment. And it's a stretch to equate Islam, or any other religion (beyond possibly a small, centralized cult) with a political party. Assuming it would go to SCOTUS, I don't see anyway it gets upheld.
"Basing that "class" off of religion would violate the First Amendment."
How?
The First Amendment legalizes the "free exercise", not blowing up suicide vests or firing into crowds. The difference between free and coercive should be as obvious in this forum as the difference between race and insanity. Berserkers running amok is a) initiation of force and b) insanity, contagious in that it is artificially induced. On grounds of public health a case can be made for quarantining transmissible murderous berserker versions of Tourette's disease.
One who subscribes to sharia law might be said to belong to an informal political party since the tenets are societal/political and not just religious.
I agree it may be a stretch, but I can imagine the arguments.
What exactly is your definition of "subscribes to sharia law?" Only people who think such law should be the "law of the land" or a more broad definition? It also seems like that's a much easier hurdle to overcome by lying, as membership in a political party is a lot harder to hide and easier to uncover compared to personal beliefs.
Have any of you kids ever read the First and Second Amendments? Study them closely (don't worry, they're short) and see of you can make out the word "FREE" in either or both of them.
Holy shit, really?
"Our side lost the civil war, and we are gonna be oppressed (or killed) by Muslims or Communists, whoever wins the power struggle."
"Get back in there, assholes! Teach you to support a dictator!"
So, how many Carter/Voldemort comparisons do we get? And will anyone petition UK Parliament to ban him from entry into UK?
And Jemmy Carter is all about the Baby Jayses. What about thoughtcrime, to get the Dems on board? Maybe Congress could exclude the Saracen Blackamoor for lusting after white girls?
The totalitarian party clause is pretty spot on, and there is a difference between born (race) and brainwashed (induced insanity). I debated many a communist back when they admitted to it. Epistemologically they are exactly like mohammedans. However, for immigration exclusion purposes all Congress need do is exercise enough doublethink to declare katha edulis and betel nuts addictive narcotic stimulant gateways to Hell and Damnation and deport all who have ever touched such things under color of "moral turpitude." That and legalize alcohol, which I'm told the Koran and Methodist Bauble both forbid. That'll send 'em packing.
So, it's an episode of Independents without the dapper one (Kmele)?
Still has Kennedy so nope, not gonna watch.
More Kmele, less Kennedy I always say.
KENNEDY LET HIM FINISH
Last time Gavin was on, it was horrible. He talked over everyone, even Kennedy, with whom he was engaged in a heated debate (shouting match on his end).
It was remarkable.
Also, she's actually gotten quite a bit better since the end of The Independents, for some reason.
"she's actually gotten quite a bit better"
I agree although I haven't seen her for a while. Last time I did though seemed like maybe she had gotten some coaching. I like Kennedy but she definately needed some help.
I still have Fargo to watch. Then tonights American Horror Story
Telescreen exposure sickness could go a long way toward explaining many of the less mindful postings in this forum.
I'm tuning in for Jedediah Bila.
Hubba.
Since it's relevant to this post, I think I'll repeat something I announced on the PM links:
Interesting article Tarran, thanks. I assume you've read Nozick's Anarchy, State, and Utopia?
I am not an anarchist except in my heart. I just don't see given human instinct any permanency to that state. Power abhors a vacuum. People seem to demand that each other be ruled. I don't know how you get past that.
Anarcho-capitalists is what communists have taken to calling themselves in attempts to infiltrate and destroy the libertarian party. This is exactly the brand of murdering looters Congress wisely excluded as undesirable aliens in 1903!
Kmele Foster is a communist?
Fascinating.
ROFL! You seriously are arguing that Rothbard was a commie, Hank?!?
My sarcasmometer is struggling to process this!
You going to mention Trump's number one fan?

God forbid we should take a break from importing brainwashed Manchurian Candidates! But it is entertaining to see so many interested parties trying to pretend Mohammedanism is a race rather than a contagious form of coercive mental illness closely resembling christianity.
Christie is angling for a job at Reason. One of the communist websites quoted him today as calling Trump a (get this!) "religious bigot." My guess is that has to be God's Own Party parlance for "front-runner."
When is Matt going to talk about the National Socialist prohibitionist birth forcer now leading the God's Own Piss-in-a-Dixie-cup-or-be-fired party nomination odds? The one that hates libertarians and tried to scratch out poor little Rand Paul's baby blues?
