Don't Go There

Officials at New Mexico's Mora High School refused to allow Dennasia Cordova to go on a field trip with the rest of her class because she has diabetes. In a letter to her parents, the school said they could not follow her medical plan and they worried about poor cell reception if she became sick. The school marked that down as an unexcused absence.

However, in the letter the superintendent sent to the family, she said the daughter could go to the field trip if her mom also went. Her mom was not able to go.

Seems like a pretty big piece of the story tossed in at the end. Imagine the lawsuit if the school let the kid go in violation of its own policy and something unfortunate happened. The only issue I have is the forced unexcused absence on her record.
