Trump Calls for Starbucks Boycott. For Xmas Sake!

In calling for a boycott of the popular coffee chain, The Donald Scrooges himself all over again.

While addressing issues of critical importance to the American public, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called for a boycott of Starbucks. During a campaign rally in Springfield, Ill., Trump trolled the popular coffee chain for what he sees as insufficient recognition of the Christmas holidays.

"No more 'Merry Christmas' at Starbucks. No more," Trump said, noting that the coffee giant is among his tenants at Trump Tower in Manhattan. "Maybe we should boycott Starbucks. I don't know. Seriously. I don't care. By the way: That's the end of that lease. But who cares? Who cares? Who cares?"

Well said, The Donald. Especially that 'who cares?' part.

Despite Trump's fears of a world without Yule, Starbucks continues to sell Christmas gift cards, Christmas tree ornaments, and Christmas Blend coffee. Though it's unclear how he feels about the entry of Latin American and Indonesian beans inside our national borders.

This is not the first time the twice-divorced gambling tycoon who has considered dating his own daughter has expressed grave concern about the decline of religious values America. Last September, Trump declared war on the war on Christmas at the Values Voters Summit, to the rapturous applause of an audience of evangelicals.

I consider myself a conservative Christian (I see no conflict between being personally conservative and politically libertarian) and I don't give a rat's a## about the Starbucks cups. I like their green tea lattes, they're close to my office, and I fully intend to keep buying them. Yes, they're massively overpriced but that just means I buy them less often.

Just like I think bakers should be able to refuse wedding service to gays (stupid business move but their decision), bar owners should be able to decide whether or not they allow smoking, and pot should be legal, I think Starbucks can have any color cup they want.

If some Christians want to boycott Starbucks because that's the most important thing to them, I guess that's their decision. However, I suggest that they re-read the sermon on the mount (among other things) before picking this as their "key issue".

I get the impression that he's seen the typical leftist over-reaction to a very few idiots (all of the lefty articles attacking a 'Starbucks controversy' quotes ONE person. There is no real controversy. It's entirely made-up Astroturf so that the ever-so-rational left can impugn us stupid redneck flyover country hillbillies.

Trump seems to see an opportunity to attack lefty culture and pick up some social conservative votes in the process. Hopefully this will backfire. It's beneath the Presidency (even a post-Clinton presidency)

For the record, there are much better reasons to boycott Starbucks than the color of a stupid coffee cup (even though as was stated above, Starbucks does have a history of in-your-face Prog signaling). The primary reason for the boycott is overpriced, not-very-good coffee and insufferably smug 'service'.

While I agree with your 2nd paragraph no one had said it was a "key issue" or "The most important thing to them." I consider boycotts solely as an opportunity to deprive an entity from using my transferred resources to undermine my values and way of life. The difficulty to carry one out is relative to the length of one's Do Not Patronize List. I think of it as trying not to help load a gun likely to be pointed at me. Some people believe that preserving this as a Christian nation with its traditions is still important instead of allowing blatant commercial exploitation getting a free ride.

I think a good compromise on this critical issue is to not boycott Starbucks but instead, after you purchase your Venti double mocha latte, just glare at the barista. Corporate will get the message loud and clear!
