Another candidate has withdrawn from the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. The Washington Post's Dave Weigel reports:
Lessig2016
Harvard professor and government reform activist Larry Lessig announced the end of his quixotic presidential bid on Monday, pinning the blame on capricious debate rules that barred him from ever appearing onstage with better-known Democratic rivals.
"The party won't let me be a candidate," Lessig said in his final campaign video. "I can't ask people to support a campaign that I know can't get before the members of the Democratic Party."
Lessig, whose bid was built around his ideas for campaign finance reform, posted his exit video here. He did, Weigel writes, leave the door open for another kind of candidacy:
Asked today via email if he would mount an independent bid, he wrote that "nothing (legal) is ruled out."
Let the Lessig/Webb ticket speculation start now! (*)

He seemed to be pretty popular among the Weigelians (the Beltway liberals who get a kick of out pretending to be libertarian, many of whom work in the Reason D.C. office).
Which probably tells you more than everything you wanted or needed to know about the guy.
I do find the constant back and forth over whether the Reason staff are stealth Progressive/Democratic operatives or conservative/Republican operatives amusing at times.
I've accused Richman of being a victim of shaken baby syndrome. Not sure if it's a progressive/conservative thing or more a truly awful/fucking deplorable thing.
Or this - "Molly Bloom's Traditional Irish Pub gives visitors a little taste of Ireland in the middle of Tel-Aviv. Established at the end of 2000, Molly Bloom's was the first Irish Pub to open in Israel."
Several Republican Senators outed as members of the KKK by Anonymous

You may have caught the awesome diary by Leslie Salzillo over the weekend. (You should read it right now!) Here's the short version: Anonymous threatened to leak the names of 1000s of members of the KKK as part of their #OperationKKK, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
Now Anonymous has released the first batch of names, in doing so, outed several prominent Republican politicians in the mix.
Four Senators have been outed by Anonymous:
Thom Tillis (R-NC)
John Cornyn (R-TX) (Majority Whip of the US Senate)
Johnny Isakson (R-GA)
Dan Coats (R-IN)
They tend to be extremely protestant, of the southern Baptist variety. An openly gay guy wouldn't find the atmosphere very friendly even if the organization isn't explicitly anti-gay.
Lessig, whose bid was built around his ideas for campaign finance reform, posted his exit video here. He did, Weigel writes, leave the door open for another kind of candidacy:
So Lessig feels he cannot compete against 15th e free publicity given to other candidates due to an agreement between the party and the major media organizations. But what exactly does he think entitled him to access those forums?
"Larry Lessig announced the end of his quixotic presidential bid on Monday, pinning the blame on capricious debate rules'
No matter what you do, Larry... make sure you never *blame the Democrat party* They are still the epitome of moral-supremacy and integrity. Its just that they have such finicky rules that Harvard Law Professors are somehow unable to figure out. Liberalism will triumph in the end regardless!
I'd be more enthused about Larry the Internet-Guy if he dropped his bizarre political pretenses...which seem to reveal a profound stupidity and ignorance of the political process itself - pretending that he will get elected, wave magic wands to achieve his Single Issue Goal, then like Cincinnatus, return to his law-fields and retire.
Why don't some of these party also-rans pool their money with some independents, rent a studio or venue and stream their own debates on the Internet? It's won't be as big an audience as television is--at first. But will grow over the years and decades leaving the broadcast networks in the dust.
If Lessig wants campaign reform, he could start by reducing the LameStreamMedia's power.
Did a body-building supplement cause a South Carolina campus cop to allegedly use excessive force?
According to a 2010 deposition obtained by INSIDE EDITION, Ben Fields, the former Richland County officer acknowledged he had taken creatine, a popular performance enhancer favored by weight lifters.
According to published reports, some users claim that creatine causes mood swings, anger and aggressive behavior.
Once again the post hoc fallacy rears its ugly head. Did anyone consider the possibility that people get into weightlifting because they're violent aggressive assholes?
The violent aggressiveness is because they were assholes in the first place. Roid rage is a myth.
I hear that the biggest mood problems come when you come off a cycle. Apparently a cratered testosterone level makes you a weepy, grumpy dickhead. Which is probably why old men are dicks.
Narrator: [V.O] This is Bob. Bob had bitch tits.
[Camera pans to a REMAINING MEN TOGETHER sign]
Narrator: [V.O] This was a support group for men with testicular cancer. The big moosie slobbering all over me... that was Bob.
Robert 'Bob' Paulson: We're still men.
Narrator: [slightly muffled due to Bob's enormous breasts] Yes, we're men. Men is what we are.
[V.O]
Narrator: Eight months ago, Bob's testicles were removed. Then hormone therapy. He developed bitch tits because his testosterone was too high and his body upped the estrogen. And that was where I fit...
Robert 'Bob' Paulson: They're gonna have to open my pecs again to drain the fluid.
Narrator: [V.O] Between those huge sweating tits that hung enormous, the way you'd think of God's as big.
I know a guy who has bitch tits from poorly-planned anabolic use. Have you ever seen them? They're hilarious.
Creatinine is the waste product produced from the breakdown of a molecule of which creatine is the precursor. The only thing your body does with creatinine is pee it out.
Look for anything Dan John has to say on the subject. Pavel Tsatsouline is a good resource too, once you get past is DA COMRADE RUSSIA IS STRONGEST act.
I was just listening to that album this morning. I had written it off years ago because I thought the synth tones were too cheesey. It's not nearly as bad as I remembered.
Harvard professor and government reform activist Larry Lessig announced the end of his quixotic presidential bid on Monday, pinning the blame on capricious debate rules that barred him from ever appearing onstage with better-known Democratic rivals.
I guess his was a problem of poor timing. The current Democratic field is already so diverse, with every social group perfectly represented, that there was no room for another nerdy white Marxian.
The most boring fucking people in the goddamn world seem to run for president of this place. I sort of hate the American people and their crop creams. Not an evil hate... just a rancorous irritated fuck-you hate. Mundane hate. Pie-in-the-fucking-face hate.
finally watched South Park's yelping episode. thanks to all who recommended it. tears rolling down cheeks laughing. they are at their funniest when they go musical.

Larry Lessig announced the end of his peresidential bid for one reason; he ran out of other people's money.
Has anyone else noticed that Professor Lessig looks EXACTLY like Wally Cox, the tv-actor most famous for voicing the cartoon character Underdog? (He was a guest-star on many shows, including GET SMART, LOST IN SPACE, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, THE ODD COUPLE and McMILLAN AND WIFE.)
Huh?
Who is this guy?
Brainiac who wanted to stifle everybody's political speech. Once achieved, he and his ego would resign as president.

"Brainiac who wanted to stifle everybody's political speech."
Yeah, Weigel claims this is 'government reform'. More like 'government empowerment'.
He seemed to be pretty popular among the Weigelians (the Beltway liberals who get a kick of out pretending to be libertarian, many of whom work in the Reason D.C. office).
Which probably tells you more than everything you wanted or needed to know about the guy.
WHYCOME THEM VOET 4 BLOCK INSANE YOMAMMA
I have to ask. Everyone here obviously thinks you are an idiot. And you seem to loathe the staff of Reason. Why the fuck do you keep coming back?
I do find the constant back and forth over whether the Reason staff are stealth Progressive/Democratic operatives or conservative/Republican operatives amusing at times.
You would, as a well-known Cosmotarian plant. I see the truth.
One cannot doubt however, that they are more comfortable and collegial amongst Progressives that they would be amongst conservatives.
That doesn't make them stealth Democrats to se sure.
One cannot doubt however, that they are more comfortable and collegial amongst Progressives that they would be amongst conservatives.
Based on...?
I've accused Richman of being a victim of shaken baby syndrome. Not sure if it's a progressive/conservative thing or more a truly awful/fucking deplorable thing.
Because he cannot rest until he has labeled every politician with a forced pun name.
Says Heromo Merotic
Holy Fuck that is good.
Says A Tan Jerk Wad
Lusty Juggalette
Fuck you, Busty Snuggler!
I think that's a compliment.
Says PMS
Who?
Ehrmagerd! Lurry Lersig lerft the Dermercrert rerce! Ehr! Muh! GERD!
He did, Weigel writes, leave the door open for another kind of candidacy:
You know who else kept his options open...
Wiener? Oh wait, you didn't say "fly" ....
Now to find a suitable beer hall...
Here's a good one.
Or this - "Molly Bloom's Traditional Irish Pub gives visitors a little taste of Ireland in the middle of Tel-Aviv. Established at the end of 2000, Molly Bloom's was the first Irish Pub to open in Israel."
They should feel at home here.
Or here.
Man, Now I wanna go to Israel and order an Irish Car Bomb there.
QUADRUPLE ASSHOLE POINTS!
Vanna White?
"nothing (legal) is ruled out."
*audible snicker from Hillary Clinton*
Well, Hillary doesn't rule out anything legal.
Of course, she doesn't rule out anything illegal, either.
And, come to think of it, a close reading of Lessig's statement doesn't rule out anything illegal, as well.
DO IT, LARRY! GO ROGUE! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!
OT: Democrats are being trolled
Several Republican Senators outed as members of the KKK by Anonymous

How do we know it's trolling?
Call it a gut feeling. I could be wrong but it's a little too convenient. Cornyn?
Besides, dailykos pulled their post on it shortly after it went up. And they aren't exactly willing to give any GOP members the benefit of the doubt.
Now if they had said Cornyn was spending weekends snorting coke and hiring ladyboys, I wouldn't doubt it as much.
I'm sure there will be plenty of democrats on that list too.
http://usuncut.com/politics/an.....liticians/
Ha! They named Paul Fraim of Norfolk as a member.
Aww yeah Nawfuck represent!... wait, shit.
How do we know it's trolling?
Isn't this like 20-30% of Anonymous' repertoire? They did dox the wrong officer when the issue in Ferguson first broke.
Apparently one of the politicians on that list is openly gay. Trolling DemUnderground seems pretty likely.
I was unaware that the Klan was anti-gay. Did I miss a memo?!?
They tend to be extremely protestant, of the southern Baptist variety. An openly gay guy wouldn't find the atmosphere very friendly even if the organization isn't explicitly anti-gay.
If the Klan isn't gay, why does it keep holding pride rallies in fancy uniforms, and why do they obsess over keeping their sheets washed?
/kidding
The funniest part of this is that they believe there are thousands of KKK members anymore.
*reminds self: scroll down*
The idea that Johnny Isakson was a member of the Klan would be preposterous to even the most partisan Georgia Democrat.
It has to be complete bullshit because there's no way the KKK has "1000s of members".
My guess is that they have 50 members and the rest are FBI agents
It's called the Republican Party! HA!*
*That would get me laughs on Salon.
You mean uptwinkles?
Dan Coats (R-IN)
So has the Indiana Klan had a revival since the 1920s?
Thee must be jesting, the Indiana Klan hasn't been cool since Daisy Douglass Barr left.
Oh, and hast thee considered serving on the Hood and Robe Committee? Thee could help stitch on those cute peace doves.
This was the guy who was going to try to get some piece of feel-good legislation passed, and then quit.
A professor who wanted feel-good legislation? Could it be?
Sobriety killed that band.
That is the greatest support I've ever heard for sobriety.
The listening public's development of better taste killed that band.
FUCK YOU THEY'RE STILL AROUND AND TOURED RECENTLY AND THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!1111!
/Crue fanboi
I ran spotlight for them about 3 years ago in Tampa and they honestly sounded great.
Kasich/Lessig 2016!
So did he succeed?
So Lessig feels he cannot compete against 15th e free publicity given to other candidates due to an agreement between the party and the major media organizations. But what exactly does he think entitled him to access those forums?
The DNC is pretending to have a primary.
Look nicole, just because the outcome is predetermined, it doesn't make the process any less valid. Next you'll be saying American Idol is rigged.
Or that voting more than once is unfair.
Or that pro wrestling isn't real.
IT'S STILL REAL TO ME DAMN IT!
Jesus! The actor who played radar is 74 years old!
He's almost old enough to be a Dem candidate! Maybe next cycle...
+4 years
Which means he was almost 40 by the end of his MASH run.

OT: CREATINE RAGE OH NOES
AHAHAHAHAHA he's pulling sumo. What a dope.
Once again the post hoc fallacy rears its ugly head. Did anyone consider the possibility that people get into weightlifting because they're violent aggressive assholes?
Baloney!
Next you'll be questioning whether wet streets cause rain!
Yeah! And ugly too!
People do it to shore up their self-confidence. The violent aggressiveness is from the extra testosterone.
/hearsay
The violent aggressiveness is because they were assholes in the first place. Roid rage is a myth.
I hear that the biggest mood problems come when you come off a cycle. Apparently a cratered testosterone level makes you a weepy, grumpy dickhead. Which is probably why old men are dicks.
Just what we need. A bunch of weepy, grumpy dickheads who can toss the rest of us around like cordwood...
Or if you let your estrogen get out of control. But I don't think you're allowed to talk about high estrogen levels making you an asshole.
Narrator: [V.O] This is Bob. Bob had bitch tits.

You just earned yourself a beating.
Probably Cell-Tech, powerful stuff.
Creatinine causes aggressive behavior? Maybe it's because of the acne and the shits.
Creatinine is the waste product produced from the breakdown of a molecule of which creatine is the precursor. The only thing your body does with creatinine is pee it out.
Yes, yes, I typo'd.
You're almost the worst.
I wasn't "correcting"...just "enhancing".
I've said it before and I will say it again: ban deadlifting.
*narrows eyes*
While you're here, I'm thinking of adding hardstyle kettleball to my workouts. Any resources you can direct me towards?
Look for anything Dan John has to say on the subject. Pavel Tsatsouline is a good resource too, once you get past is DA COMRADE RUSSIA IS STRONGEST act.
Thanks. The comment about Pavel is helpful as what was making me leery was his "shtick".
And I see autocorrect fucked up kettlebell.
Here's a good example of what Dan John says.
And if you don't know how to do a swing, this is a good place to start.
Thanks. You're a gentleman and a scholar! And mutant.
According to published reports, some users claim that creatine causes mood swings, anger and aggressive behavior
You want an unfounded claim made by an idiot? Cuz I can get you one. I can get you an unfounded claim by 3 o'clock... with media coverage!
Can you get me a toe?
From what I've seen I think you'd be better at that than me.
Cousin Crusty performs this with unequaled nonchalance.
Poor Larry. TEH CORPORATIONZ claim another scalp with their filthy Citizens United blood money.
Radar O' Reilly ain't looking so hot these days.
Now the LP is free to make him their nominee.
And then there were three
