Just like Progressives, Republicans are desperate to prove they're not racist by supporting a Black candidate who espouses the same beliefs as they do. Doubt they'd support a white guy with the same qualifications. And further proof that real racism is relatively rare in the US.

      1. Tonio   10 years ago

But, but...there are hundreds of hate groups in the US, Aunty. Hundreds. At least according to SPLC. And most of those are three guys with a PO box.

One of my friends here in VA lives in a neighborhood that is regularly leafleted by the Klan. The leaflets give a PO box and phone number in MO.

Expect the Title IX inquisition to get much, much worse under a President Hillary Clinton.

She actually tweeted that all sexual assault survivors have a right to be believed.

Which raises the question about what she thinks of Juanita Broaddrick.

    1. Pan Zagloba   10 years ago

Fuck it, I'm back on my belief that you are witnessing the first candidate running The Producers scam. When you set up yourself like that, it's no different than selecting Springtime for Hitler as your script.

      1. C. Anacreon   10 years ago

Actually, Kathleen Willey, who accused Bill Clinton of rape, has made a huge issue out of Hillary's comments:

        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/new.....l-day.html

        1. C. Anacreon   10 years ago

          Best quote:

Willey says Hillary Clinton is 'the most corrupt human being, the most corrupt politician that this nation has ever seen, man or woman.'

    2. Pl?ya Manhattan.   10 years ago

This is where my hate for her really shines through. Her husband is a no shit rapist. And I mean rape-rape, not he said she said.

She is a caricature of everything she claims to be against.

      1. Antilles   10 years ago

And yet she continues to have overwhelming support from Democrat voters. Are they unaware of the things Bill did, or do they dismiss them as lies promulgated by the 'Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy'? God, I hope she doesn't the nomination. Anyone but her.

        1. Trump-o-Matic 5000   10 years ago

they dismiss them as lies promulgated by the 'Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy'

This. Even the whole Monica thing was grossly predatory, given the vast, vast power differential, but the left generally gives him a pass and makes jokes about it.

          1. Antilles   10 years ago

Sexual assault must be like drone strikes to Progressives. It's OK when their guys do it...

        2. Mickey Rat   10 years ago

Bill was a feminist politician. Any women molested by him should feel to honored to take one for the team.

          1. Antilles   10 years ago

I remember one prominent 'feminist' saying that she would service Bill like Monica did so long as he kept abortion legal.

      2. Mad Scientist   10 years ago

Nah, she's playing this as straight as ever. Protecting Bill gets her various political favors from others. Persecuting college kids gets her votes. Rape has nothing to do with it.

        1. Pl?ya Manhattan.   10 years ago

I don't know why she thinks she can try to court the "female empowerment" vote. She got this far by marrying a powerful man. That's her only "accomplishment".

          1. Antilles   10 years ago

Yes. She's an utterly pathetic female role model. She doesn't deserve to go down in history as the first female president.

I know I wish we had a speaker like Farage in Canada, who could tell our political class where to stuff it.

Confession, I sometimes like to watch Ellen. Hey, fuck you.

Anyway, last week Hilary was on the show. Watching Ellen worship Hilary's lady cock was awful. The worst was when Ellen said that Hilary was the best person for women's rights, not because she is a woman, but because she is the one candidate who believes in true equality.

      1. Antilles   10 years ago

"one candidate who believes in true equality."

Yes, she wants us all to be equally miserable while she and her ilk live like royalty.

        1. C. Anacreon   10 years ago

Isn't this the case with all progressives?

I was on an annual camping trip with some old buddies this past weekend. We don't do too much except drink a lot of bourbon and beer and overeat, and it's always a great time. As evenings get late, everyone's guard gets way down and people are very honest.

Several of these guys I've always known were very liberal, but during late night two admitted they could be called socialist, though both have pretty good jobs, kids in private schools, and own nice houses in very affluent areas. As they gushed forth more it became clearer and clearer that the only reason they supported 'socialism' is that they couldn't stand the fact that some people have higher incomes than they do. And they'd be perfectly happy to be poor if only everyone else was poor, too. But of course, as intelligent and selfless as they are, they believed they'd be part of the elite, and thus would have some royal treatment that most others wouldn't.

          1. Restoras   10 years ago

Jeez. Don't these guys know they'll be the first ones sent off to the work camps? No socialist leader wants comfortable clowns like them as part of the ruling class. You need hungry sociopaths from the lower classes in those ranks - they'll do anything to keep their newly won position of power and luxury.

          2. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

            Wow.

I mean yes, it is true that the children of the already college-educated, middle-class and above are more likely to have been exposed to the language and norms of academia when growing up. So when first in the family to go to college folks begin at university they do experience a sort of class-based culture shock, yes. But one can make that point without the brow-beating. Additionally, the claim that lecture is "unfair" to women's learning style is pure, unadulterated bullshit. As CPA points out downthread, academic language and behavior, thanks to a female-majority K-12 teaching corps, mostly geared towards the values and norms of the White, female middle-class.

I don't hit women. So I'll ask my wife to briefly return to her kickboxing career so she can crocodile kick this bitch in her vapid horse face.

The best thing would be to sit in an amphitheater-shaped classroom, and the more of a minority/oppressed group you are, the higher you get to sit.

So the left-handed gay lesbians of color would have the top row of seats, below that the nonwhite men, below that the white women, and on the very bottom, staked to the ground in the arena, would be the white men.

And instead of listening to a boring lecture, the people in the seats would watch as the white men in the arena are eaten by lions.

What if when we have sex robots people die on the operating table because the surgeon gave them infections picked up when he was having sex with the communal sex robot moments before?

What if sex robots become sentient mid coitus and suddenly I'm committing rape even though I didn't mean to?

The CEO said the company has been working on the feature?which would allow users to express emotions other than "like"?for some time because "we don't want to turn Facebook into a forum where people are voting up or down on people's posts."

"That doesn't seem like the kind of community that we want to create: You don't want to go through the process of sharing some moment that was important to you in your day and have someone 'downvote' it," he said, using the lingo of popular online forum Reddit.

Instead, Zuckerberg said, the new feature will allow people to "express empathy" with their Facebook friends, explaining what many users of the social media platform already knew: "If you are sharing something that is sad...then it may not feel comfortable to 'like' that post."

Yes, Zuck, because the internet works by a combination of empathy and mindreading, rather than claiming rank based on hate and spite...

Grand jury recommends murder charges for Baruch College fraternity members involved in death of a pledge.

I am sure being in a fraternity can be fun, and perhaps this is because I went to a big state school where Greek life was limited (UW-Madison), but I never got the appeal of joining a frat. Other than the one in Animal House, of course.

    1. Almanian - Micro Trumper   10 years ago

I went to a small, private school (~1000 students at the time I attended) in the middle of Michigan (AKA "in the middle of a cornfield"), so fraternities/sorotities were about 80% of the "social life" in terms of kick ass parties and stuff.

I forget the percentage of students who belonged to Greek orgs, but it was staggeringly high.

      1. BiMonSciFiCon   10 years ago

That makes sense, I may have joined one in that case. Perhaps its just a function of school size.

Ha. I was recently in Madison for a long weekend. First time I'd been there. My boyfriend and I both commented on how jam-packed the place seemed to be with fraternities.

      1. BiMonSciFiCon   10 years ago

Maybe it's changed, but when I was there (graduated in '08), it was around 10%, I think. There's a big row of them on Langdon Street near the lake, but they're otherwise fairly limited.

        1. Just say Nikki   10 years ago

Russia may have offered Assad in 2012; Western world said "Nah, fuck that."

Former Finnish president and Nobel peace prize laureate Martti] Ahtisaari held talks with envoys from the five permanent members of the UN security council in February 2012. He said that during those discussions, the Russian ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, laid out a three-point plan, which included a proposal for Assad to cede power at some point after peace talks had started between the regime and the opposition.

But he said that the US, Britain and France were so convinced that the Syrian dictator was about to fall, they ignored the proposal.

    TOP MEN!

    1. Pan Zagloba   10 years ago

Cameron, Obama, Hollande. Everything that's wrong with the Political Class in one package. I would not be surprised at all that this was true.

      Although, if it's true that

Vitaly Churkin, laid out a three-point plan, which included a proposal for Assad to cede power at some point after peace talks had started

what it meant was, at best, "when we secure and install a replacement".

An Austrailian sportswriter liveblogged the SF/MIN game last nightJarryd Hayne's debut as seen in Australia: a fumble, flags and breaks ? as it happened

Righto ? what's doing, Monday Night Football game. Another break? Fair few breaks. Not exactly the Helsinki marathon in terms of aerobic exercise. But my it's fast and physical...

Righto. Where are we? Having another break. Is it half-time yet? Do they need it? No one's sweating. OK. Niners kick off ... and the ball sails over the endzone and into the ether. And the Vikings have the ball. And ... there's another break. Top stuff...

Top stuff from Fabulous Phil Dawson who nails a field goal and heads off for a well earned rest. Ha. Good luck to him. Forty years old, booting the pill between two big sticks for pretty good coin, better than working.

I stayed up late last night to follow that. It was fantastic.

    3. Irish ?s ESB   10 years ago

"Okay, half-time here in the Monday Night Football match between the 49ers and Vikings and the home team leads by seven points to nothing. Been something of a funny old game thus far. Flags have rained down upon the field like mortars. Giant men have thundered up guts. And Jarryd Hayne, the rookie running man from Parramatta Eels, a rugby league team, grassed his first touch and made the odd first-down, and didn't stuff anything else up after Reggie Bush went off with an ankle injury."

      This is amazing.

      1. Certified Public Asshat   10 years ago

Righto, where are we? The swapping of Special Teams for offensive and defensive units. You wonder why they need 53 players per team. Surely they could swap a few in and out. Anyway. Vikings kick off into the nothingness and the ball comes back to the 20 yard line, it's a Thing.

There are so many good excerpts. I like that he genuinely seems to be trying to enjoy the game, but is also completely thrown off by how convoluted football can be.

        1. Unreconstructed (Sans Flag)   10 years ago

For someone raised on rugby, American football is very bizarre. Much like rugby is for those raised on American football. Having played both (neither very well, nor for very long), I *love* reading confused descriptions of either sport by those from the "other" camp.

The New republic continues its pathetic decline, writes article about why they like looking at Donald Trump's face.

"I've been a fan of Donald Trump's face for four years. When he dropped his fake presidential campaign in 2011, it felt like a breakup. I was working for a news website, posting up to nine stories a day, and the funnest thing to write about was Trump's birther campaign. For months, I cropped high-quality photos of his face, scrutinizing different angles for the most ridiculous expression that would befit a story about, say, Trump's unbelievable bragging about his wealth, or his admission that he was just a teeny bit birther. The best is a classic Getty Images shot from a rally in Boca Raton, in which his face is frozen the most beautiful (hideous) square-ish O, a mixture of a child's tantrum and an opera singer. You rarely get to know a face so well unless it belongs to your significant other."

Really? Well Matt should be deeply ashamed.

      2. GILMORE?   10 years ago

Matt said "Trump's Face looks like an anus"

Not quite the same as ...

""The key to Trump's authenticity is that he actually enjoys all of this, and it's obvious on his face. Take his performance before a massive crowd in an Alabama football stadium last month. In a bit he's repeated dozens of times, Trump says, "Who cares if it rains, right? You know if it rains I'll take off my hat and prove?" And he stops talking, and dramatically takes off his hat and runs his hand over his hair with great satisfaction, twice. "?I'll prove once and for all that it's mine." The crowd goes crazy. All his emotions are clear right there on his face?he seems to actually enjoy the physical sensation of running his hands through his hair on stage. He pauses to savor the moment. Letting himself feel and express real emotions is one of Trump's greatest gifts, because he seems like a real person, not a pre-taped personality"

Ole and Sven were out hunting one day when a hanglider flew over. Ole stood up in the blind and emptied his shotgun at it.

Sven: Holy cow Ole, what kind of bird was that?

Saudi suspends Saudi Binladin Group over Mecca crane disaster

Explaining the action, an official statement referred without elaborating to the responsibility and "shortcomings" of the company following an investigation into the crane crash that [killed 107 and] also injured 238 other people.

The suspension, announced in a statement from the royal court, would remain in force until the investigation is complete and until all legal cases are settled, it said.

The crane toppled over at Mecca's Grand Mosque last Friday, less than two weeks before Islam's annual haj pilgrimage.

The company, one of the largest contracting companies in the kingdom, had been carrying expansion work at the Grand Mosque. It was founded more than 80 years ago by the father of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, and is run by Osama's brother Bakr.

Isn't it heartwarming to see the family "business" of mass killing and conflicts with the Saudi royal family continue?

Sorry, love as I do Renaissance art and writing, as well as the unbeatable Allan Ford comics, French is the language of getting laid true culture. Italian is close second, for sure.
Or third to Russian, as The Fish Called Wanda taught us.

  47. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

I've read so many opinions over the years about that. I thought the compromise was Italian was the language of culture and French intellectualism.

  48. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

And what you mean by 'true culture' anyway?

I think if we'd get down to it, whatever the criteria, I highly doubt Italy trails France on that.

  49. Pan Zagloba   10 years ago

As per subsequent comment, culture = what language will get you laid fastest, of course!

Speaking seriously, I much prefer few Italian writers I read to the French ones, painters and sculptors are no contest, and don't start me on the composers. But France was the arbiter of European culture since probably eary 18th century till mid-20th, in a way that German or Italian lands were not (and let's not talk about England).
And to put myself firmly on one side, Italian wine is way better than French one, even in the cheapo plonk tier I usually pick them up.

  50. Pan Zagloba   10 years ago

It's such an ugly language. How about Russian?

  51. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

"France was the arbiter of European culture since probably eary 18th century till mid-20th,"

Oh absolutely. But before that, say, 1300 to 1700 it was Italy. And both countries taught each other.

Personally, I enjoy French literature and agree completely with your wine assessment.

I visited both countries often and have a love for each.

  52. Pan Zagloba   10 years ago

And, unlike me, I guess you're fluent enough in both languages to get around? Even if speaking Quebecois to an upper-class Frenchman qualifies as a violation of Geneva Convention...

  53. Episteme   10 years ago

As, meanwhile, England's like "fuck that noise, I'm making money!"

  54. Rufus J. Firefly   10 years ago

    Yeah. Pretty decent.

The French can be silly. The Italians are much more easy going.
