A British member of Parliament says new anti-terrorism powers the government plans to adopt should be used on Christian teachers who teach that gay marriage is immoral. Mark Spencer, a Tory MP for Sherwood, wrote a constituent that the new law will "guarantee" free speech by punishing those who engage in hate speech.

It's almost as those the Brits set this whole thing up as a morality play, warning the rest of the world the dangers to free speech posed by hate speech laws. Or maybe Spencer of Sherwood forest simply puts the creep in mission creep.

Guaranteeing free speech by punishing those who engage in free speech. That's as good as a college prohibiting the passing out of the constitution on constitution day. Crazy idiots, they'll do anything for a laugh.
