Watch Katherine Mangu-Ward Get Heckled About "Industrial Food" on Vice News
The latest episode of The Business of Life on Vice News devolves into a feisty food fight over GMOs, obesity, farmers markets, and more.

In the latest episode of The Business of Life on Vice News, hosted by Reason Contributing Editor Michael Moynihan, I sat down with food big-thinkers Frederick Kaufman and Danielle Nierenberg to talk about the way Americans eat. We fought about GMOs, obesity, organic foods, and whether lentils are the solution to all our problems.
Plus, I get heckled just after the 17:20 mark for defending "industrial food." Check it out.

I don't do Vice any more.
And I can't deal with complaints about GMO or industrial food production any more. It's so dull.
Seriously. I grow some of my own fucking food. It's not that hard, it's relatively cheap, and it's fucking delicious. The only problem that I have is between school, a full-time job, and 2+ part-time jobs at any one time, it's hard to keep the weeds and the pests out. I lost a ton of potential growth this year simply because I didn't apply pesticide when I was well aware I needed to.
The rest could easily be bought from farmer's markets, and many times is. If you don't want to eat GMO "industrialized" food, there are a zillion resources to learn how to grow your own food, even on something as small as a tenth of an acre. These activists are fucking lazy, and are more concerned with fucking other people over than they are with any idea of healthy eating.
Just because you grow it yourself doesn't mean it's non-GMO.
No, but it's pretty easy to avoid GMO if that's what you are into.
Basically they want everyone else to be forced to eat the same organic stuff they do (forcing their preferences onto everyone else) regardless of whether they want to or can afford to. And they also want to force all farming to be done organically, nevermind the amount of extra land that would have to be cleared to make up for crop losses. The irony is that many of these same twats also claim to be environmentalists.
And I can't deal with complaints about GMO or industrial food production any more. It's so dull.
Especially in regards to American obesity/opulence. I can't ignore exercise and pretend that the rest of the world would love us if we continued to gorge ourselves on locally-grown heirloom fruits and vegetables or that once we *all* expend zero effort to look like Adonises and just inhale our requisite calories from the local ether that hate/envy/greed/inequality will cease to exist.
WelI don't think lefties want envy to go away, that's the primary motivation for all of their politics. I think hate, greed and inequality all have their valid place in human interaction though.
OT: The most vomit-inducing shit you will read today:
http://www.vanityfair.com/news.....t-daughter
Highlights-
Gone is the Chelsea who tried to blend in as just another Stanford-educated grind. She has fully embraced being a Clinton and is now deliberately, willfully, on the road to greatness.
And, most important, two and a half years ago she put her name alongside those of her parents at their foundation, which has raised some $2 billion since its inception and is now called the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
This was no vanity move. Those who work with her at the foundation attest to her almost daunting intelligence, her diligence, and her genuine dedication to the job.
Except among members of right-wing media, the idea of making Chelsea Clinton uncomfortable feels wrong. Our national instinct is to protect and revere her?to treat her more like royal progeny than an adult who has taken on a position of global consequence. The coddling is not simply because she's the daughter of two political superstars who are loved and feared and protected by their own omert??although that's certainly part of it.
Truly sickening.
Hey, as long as Chelsea stays out of the private sector, I'm good, I'm good.
Don't you mean public sector?
Nope. The private sector needs a "safe streets" program keeping the unskilled from doing damage to capitalism. Her parents' non profit keeps her distracted and occupied, thus minimizing damage to some poor company out there.
This. As long as she stays at her parent's slush fund and away from any position of actual power or authority, so much the better. Vanity Fair can give her all the wet, sloppy journalistic cunnilingus they want, as long as she's not able to any real damage. Unfortunately I doubt she'll be content to just work at the slush fund though. She'll run for office eventually, and surely someday for president, and she'll probably win.
Think of it this way, the Clinton foundation is "midnight basketball" for politicians' at-risk youth.
Jesus Christ - WHY did I read that? Now I LITERALLY have to kill myself. Thanks a lot!
This was no vanity move. Those who work with her at the foundation attest to her almost daunting intelligence, her diligence, and her genuine dedication to the job.
Hmm, yes, people who work for her mommy and daddy (and are probably aware of the Clintons' habit of pettiness and revenge) make sure to overwhelming praise their child.
Except among members of right-wing media, the idea of making Chelsea Clinton uncomfortable feels wrong. Our national instinct is to protect and revere her?to treat her more like royal progeny than an adult who has taken on a position of global consequence.
I am continuously amazed at how many Americans jump into cults of personality connected to politicians and their spawn. I mean, yes, up here we have Emperor Trudeau the First, and the Martyr Layton, but the blatant sycophantic proclamations of American journalists is impressive.
Did you remember to wish Obama happy birthday on Facebook this week? Go on, do it.
I don't even have my rainbow avatar yet!
treat her more like royal progeny than an adult who has taken on a position of global consequence
Well, my instinct is to ignore or mock royal progeny, so that seems about right. She is more like royal progeny than an adult with a position of global prominence.
Fuck political dynasties.
When people become citizens they should roll a 100-sided dice. If it doesn't come up with 100, you can't ever run for office.
It's non-discriminatory and it completely eliminates the possibility of 'legacy' politicians getting elected on mom and dad's reputations.
I posted this in the AM links. Thanks for the hat tip.
Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno.
/McCain
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_Reno
That joke is sooo AM links.
Where the fuck are my MSR's? Go and make them and don't come back til they're done.
Sounds like someone's "ready for Chelsea". *barf*
NEPOTISM IS AWESOME
That's some quality trolling right there. I've already seen this posted in two articles today, out of maybe four that I read.
What the hell is Moynihan wearing?
Why are his pants so short?
Sexy Mr. Burns.
Sexy is right. Moynihan is the HAWT. I'd tear that apart.
Most important fact about obesity in the US relates to the mix of our macronutrients.

Clearly Mangu-Ward doesn't actually die her hair, that's just a side effect of her eating horrible industrial/FRANKEN food.
Katherine Mangu-Ward is actually a 12 year old boy.
DON'T EAT FRANKENFOOD
Brought to you by the Space Pope.
Again more proof that Occupy is nothing if not "a movement" of individuals whose common thread is illusions of grandeur.
Yes.
"It's a movement, you might have heard of it?"
By "movement" do you mean the bowel movements those hippies were having on Wall St in between raping each other in tents? I remember that, but I wouldn't call it an uprising.
It's really funny when "tent rape" is the nicest thing you can say about the movement.
To steal a (likely paraphrased) quote from Doug Stanhope on Occupy: "Wah, we don't have leaders. WELL YOU SURE AS SHIT NEEDED SOME."
STEVE SMITH HAVE INTEREST IN THIS MOVEMENT. GO ON...
I generally try really hard to ignore the antics of dirty hippies, was the tent rape rape rape?
Not only was it rape rape, but then the organizers tried to keep the rape victims from going to the cops.
Maybe this is why progressives are so worried about rape culture - because prog men just can't stop committing rape when they're given the opportunity.
IN fairness weren't the rapists mostly dirty bums who showed up to prey on the stupid hippies? They set up a tent city in downtown Manhattan. What did they think was going to happen?
The dirty bums were able to infiltrate so well because they're virtually indistinguishable from the millennial bums laying around.
More to the point the set up a tent city in downtown Manhattan and thought that they didn't need to take any real precautions against predatory behaviors, because brotherly love and shit.
I don't remember them as dirty hippies, I remember them as rather clean cut millennials who were pissed off they had six figures in student loan debt and zero job prospects in an economy that (for a brief time at least) was suddenly demanding skills and value in exchange for a paycheck.
Um
Paging Crusty.
Thank you for the heads-up, Playa. You can keep your KMW's, you sick freaks.
Pirate Dog, David Bowie, and Alison Brie's twin, and by twin I mean twin in the Arnold/Devito sort of way.
I should have called the one on the left "The Dread Pirate Dogberts."
I blame excel for forcing me off my game. Excel sucks.
Every protest attracts that element. I remember the... Leadership with their college loan grievances, their demands for a pan-regulatory state etc.. those people seemed like normal kids. Normal kids in that they actually went to a four year college and were sentient enough to realize they 1: had six figures of student loan debt and 2: At least entertained the idea of having a job, even if the job they envisioned was something that paid extremely well but didn't require too much personal sacrifice. Probably some place where they had slides instead of stairs and stacks of legos on the tables.
You think those are dirty hippies? You clearly have little experience with dirty hippies.
yeah I kind of remember it differently.
as in they were fixie bike riding, bong water as Cologne wearing, barefoot hippies.
Ask one of them to even halfass accurately describe what a bank is and you'll see how valid their economic grievances really are.
"I don't remember them as dirty hippies"
I guess they weren't all dirty hippies, there were also trust fund babies.
Up Twinkles.
I'm gonna block that.
Oh man, that is fucking hilarious.
If nothing else you should listen from 17.20 forward it's awesome.
If OWS is the best these little shits can do when it comes to "uprisings", I don't think we have too much to worry about when it comes to the progtard left.
I just noticed Moynihan has a little Canuckistan in his "aboots". Weird. I think he's an East Coaster. But that sounded very Ontariariari-oian. Interesting.
And he looks more like a vampire EVERY Time I see him.
Didn't he live in Sweden for a while? That'll fuck up anyone's accent.
And make anyone look like a vampire.
They only get like 3 hours of sunlight a year.
If by "year" you mean "January".
Everyone gets around the same amount of daylight each year. Sorry if I'm being humor impaired.
He seems to have gotten the inappropriate giggle thing under control, though.
Speaking of inappropriate giggling, I live in an artsy part of my town and was casually dating a young, liberal leaning woman who fancies herself a painter(she isn't, but anywhoo) and I made the mistake of watching Gran Torino with her. She never called back. I'm terrible.
Ah, she didn't get it.
Pro tip, next time watch a marathon of Girls.
You're probably right. Thanks for the tip.
Moynihan's accent is "I lived abroad"
Also, KMW, you look HAWT!
Sorry for noticing.
TIWTANLW
Again, we need to standardize this. I vote for TIWTANFL, if only because of the similarity to TANSTAAFL.
FWIW, I favor TIWTANFL.
See! Cheeky and fun!
Thirded.
Official sanction!
You might have to duel Crusty for the affections of KMW. Gird your loins.
I merely stated that while hanging out with KMW there would most likely be cheeky and fun shenanigans. Gosh.
You may have to deal with more of the internet than just Crusty. "Katherine Mangu-Ward husband" is the second google hit for her name.
Also, why the fuck does she not have a wiki page? I'm taking this up with Elders of Wikipedia.
I had it for Mangu Ward before anyone else. I was all over her back when the rest of these idiots were fawning over that Howley woman. Mangu Ward is the Mary Ann to Howley's Ginger of reason.
I had it for Mangu Ward before anyone else.

You need a lawyer for one of those. Give me a couple grand and I'll set the page up.
OT: I was reading a Theodore Dalrymple article about Islam in Britain and came across the greatest comment of all time:
It's like every leftist talking point congealed into one huge pile of shit.
I also love the total lack of knowledge about America from what I assume to be a dumbass British person:
Clearly this is a rational statement, for example, due to the infamous massacre of all those Americanized Muslims living in Dearborn, Michigan. Those poor Muslims didn't even make it through a single year before hunters from the UP descended on them with rifles and shotguns.
In America, our Muslims are actually vastly more moderate than the ones in Europe and tend to be far better educated and wealthier, so if anything maybe the Europeans could learn a thing or two from our capacity to assimilate immigrants.
You forgot about the genocide of Somalis in Minneapolis. You racist.
I especially love how Europeans always go on long rants about how horribly racist the U.S. is, while completely ignoring the blatant xenophobia and racism throughout Europe. The worse conversation on race I ever had was in Stockholm with two Swedes, who talked about how crime rates in the United States had something to with 'criminal genes' in the black community.
I don't believe this happened. Please tell me this didn't really happen.
Good thing you weren't with the police, that kind of talk is a criminal offense in Sweden.
I don't believe this happened.
Why? Europeans are incredibly provincial. I always had fun prodding them to tell me what they really thought of their immediate neighbors. Get a few drinks in them and they open right up.
My personal favorite stereotype of the Swedes was from the Finns. Finns are so reserved that it took a long while for me to get it out of them.
Good thing you weren't with the police, that kind of talk is a criminal offense in Sweden.
That's the thing, in the limited time I spent in Sweden, you realize that no amount of 'hate speech' laws will actually stop xenophobia. It just goes underground and festers, until one night you're just having some beers and suddenly people start talking about black criminal genetics. Worse still, because of hate speech laws, these people often think they've stumbled onto some TRUTH that the government/The Man/the Establishment/whatever is hiding, and it validates them.
Come on John. I mean it is not like sports fans in America don't call black players monkeys and throw bananas at them. You know that happens all of the time here but never at European soccer matches.
It's ludicrous to say that it's some kind of "criminal genes". But that awful misconception might have something to do qith the fact that if you subtracted black criminals from the statistics, the US would have a rate of violence lower than Belgium's. But that doesn't fit the "America is violent because of it's gun ownership" narrative.
*lower murder rate* that is
I think that's more to do with our geography. Europe is a proximate shining city on a hill. America is a distant shining city on a hill. So Europe's influx of Muslims will necessarily be greater in numbers and lower in overall quality. That's not to say that I don't think Europe's "multiculturalism" policies aren't insanely destructive of immigrants prospects and playing a role in promoting a lower quality Muslim population.
I also think it has to do with why the immigrants came. Persian Iranian Muslim doctors fleeing the revolution in the '70s are a different group of people than Pashtun tribesmen going to Britain from Pakistan.
Damn you.
True enough. But policy makers, especially in Europe, aren't allowed to truly distinguish and discriminate between immigrant groups. Which is just the mutlicult acting out their fantasies about human nature at society's expense.
Actually, the French do discriminate. They allow migrants from former French colonies while restricting those from other countries quite significantly.
One of the provisions of the Schengen Agreement renders each countries individual immigration controls only effective as the lowest common denominator. France could have as strict a policy as they want, but if an immigrant wants to move there, they need only board a train from Italy or wherever.
Moreover, countries like the Netherlands whose population tends towards wanting stricter immigration controls was essentially browbeat by the EU into taking on their "fair share" of refugees.
I think it has more to with the origin nation of the immigrants - racist that I am. Many of our immigrants are Iranian and or Palestinian/Christian. In the UK, they're primarily from Pakistan.
Well we're talking about Muslim immigration specifically, from the middle east. But yes I'd be willing to bet we do have an overall higher quality Muslim population owing in large part to national origins. Culture matters, that isn't racist to acknowledge it.
"If a Muslim majority neighborhood existed in the US how long do you think it would be before they were slaughtered en masse by the NRA's horde of mindless, toothless rednecks?"
Not only do they murder Muslims, they don't even practice good dental hygiene. Ugh.
Get that. A Brit mentioning "toothless" - like they've got something to brag about.
Good catch.
ha!
As someone who grew up in a household of foreigners, I can tell you that European ignorance of America is greater than Americans' ignorance of Europe and the UK.
I think they were more moderate, but they are becoming more radicalized.
Growing up in St. Louis, we didn't have a lot of muslims, but a few. I had a friend Omar who was one. He and his family was completely indistinguishable from anyone else.
But now we seem to have a lot of them and they aren't like everyone else. You see their women dressed up with scarves and hijab and in many cases, full blown burkhas.
My Poe's Law detector is going NUTS. Do i need to recalibrate?
I don't think anyone could type something that accurate about the way leftists think. Every phrase is a leftist buzzword, which means he's either the greatest performance artist of our time or a crazed prog.
If a Muslim majority neighborhood existed in the US how long do you think it would be before they were slaughtered en masse by the NRA's horde of mindless, toothless rednecks?
How long have Muslims been living in Deerborn? These people seem to pride themselves on being hateful and ignorant.
In the United States, all but the 1% are simply left to die of treatable medical conditions while health care is available for all in the UK and the rest of Europe.
Oh for-
Sigh.
Derp endures. As well ask men what they think of stone. Derp was always here. Before Man was, Derp waited for him. The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and always will be.
WHOOO! Every time I see a McCarthy quote I get happy!
Derp is God
Derp Meridian
I genuinely believe that it's difficult to not be a dumbfuck. Otherwise the world would be awash in libertarians and bad ideas made into government policy wouldn't be so plentiful.
However, since this is the UK and not the US, people aren't murdered left and right because of sensible gun laws.
Yeah, instead you just have to deal with a much larger per capita violent crime rate!
That comment section is immensely stupid by the way.
There's a guy named Peter Wise who apparently believes the west is morally responsible for everything it does but Muslims are never morally responsible for anything they do because ROOT CAUSES.
When Boko Haram blows up children in forced suicide bombings in Nigeria, it's because the Jews stole land from Palestinians.
Logic.
Heard it here first, guys, Boko Haram has nothing to do with Islam! Don't even worry about it! No Islam to see here!
split, north/South along religious grounds.
Nothing at all to do with Islam. It is the followers of Set vs the minions of Houris.
Well, clearly the Ottomans invaded the Balkans and Austria because of the Crusades. That's how history works.
The amount of people who pull the 'that's not real Islam' card while knowing fuck-all about Islam is amazing. First of all, you're a non-Muslim, in Islam your opinion is doctrinally irrelevant. Second, if you can't tell me what the Zakat is you're too ignorant to have an opinion on Islam.
It's a tax or something? I have plenty of opinions about Islam and I'm pretty sure none of them are positive. The doctrinal points of Islam notwithstanding, only judging by the views and behaviors of mainstream Muslims around the world can tell you what you need to know about Islam. You don't need to study the Hadiths to see the barbaric outcomes that culture and ideology produces in society.
In relation to Bosnians, someone forgot tell this douchecanoe about the Kosovo Liberation Army. (Hint: Muslims).
There was outrage over much of the terrorism perpetuated by the IRA (and by the Ulster paramilitaries as well). Where is the "civilized" world's outrage at the Muslim terrorist that occurs all over the fucking world? When any of us bring it up, we are labeled Islamophobic. Of course there are places where violence occurs that isn't related to Muslims. However, there is no other religious ideology that comes even close to the amount of violence perpetrated in its name. (Unless you count socialism and communism as "religions")
Mmm, that's some good high quality DERP. If only there was a way to harness it. That amount of concentrated DERP could power the entire planet for centuries. It's like the Tesseract of stupidity. The Derperact.
I honestly hate that this is actually a topic of conversation
Look at that hipster douchebag audience. I'm surprised it took 17 minutes for them to start heckling you.
And the heckler was such an idiot. This entire topic makes me almost incoherent with rage, as it's the ultimate expression of the id of the totalitarian left. They can't even leave people alone to eat what they want.
"skinny people are rich people in America, fat people are poor people"
"I don't like to be around fat people"
I enjoyed watching the other two panelists have simultaneous conniptions.
Well done Katherine.
I think it is a bit ironic to watching someone like Ward who appears to have not eaten anything since at least the second Clinton Administration comment on food.
You should def. not watch the video,
-this was something that was actually said by a member of the audience.
This is why no one can do good comedy anymore. The real world is doing it for them.
Yup, we're beyond parody as a society.
I recently found out that a rural town near me, Roseville, OH, was designated a food desert and thus a group was able to get federal grant money for some subsidized little vegetable stand out in front of a local gas station.
I check with Google maps to be sure. The town center is literally a 12 minute drive from a Walmart Supercenter with vast, vast food selection. Six minutes in the other direction is an IGA grocery (grocery stores chain common in my rural area). The place is also surrounded by farm and ranch land. There are farmers around who run their own roadside markets.
If that place is a "food desert," I'm Lawrence of frickin' Food Arabia.
It was so clearly all about getting their hands on some sweet, sweet grant money.
We are all well aware that you prefer the meatier ladies, John.
I didn't say that was bad. And for the record I was all over Mangu Ward years ago.
Meow.
Did she say 'school guardians'??
And what husband doesn't know what size clothing his wife wears?
WTF is "industrial food" anyway? Farming on an industrial scale has been done for decades if not centuries. It's the reason why so few of us have to rely on backyard farms to grow our own food and instead buy our stuff at grocery stores. Are these shit heads actually against the concept of division of labor within societies?
These fucking progtards just love to string words together because they think it makes them sound smart when in reality they're only displaying their stupidity to anyone who actually understands how words works.
That one girl towards the end stood up and declared that we should buy more local food if we can afford it so there will be more farmers because she is so certain that the division of labor really needs more farmers. It's raining Luddites.
If you poll these people they will estimate themselves to be among the smartest and most informed generation ever
Yeah there's an academic word that describes that phenomenon that I can't summon right now. It's where a person is so incompetent at thinking rationally, that they have no way notice how incompetent they are.
Dunning?Kruger effect
*facepalm* I haven't watched the video yet because I'm at work. Plus I'm concerned about what effect exposure to that much contracted DERP could have on my psyche. It might just cause my head to explode Scanners style. Either that or leave me in a catatonic state drooling on myself.
*concentrated DERP*
auto correct fail
This is probably the same girl (or her relative) who once expressed to me that she believed flush toilets were a terrible thing, and that the native American way was much better. Thankfully, she wasn't burying her shit in her suburban backyard.
There is no such thing as a food desert. I have actually been in inner city and barrios etc where poor people live. They have access to all kinds of greens, vegetables etc and many of them eat them. Okay, cooked in a healthy dose of lard. But they eat them. The two book authors are so massively full of shit. They probably should visit a 'food desert' before they comment on them. Unbelievable!
I have to commend all the Reason writers that go to derpfests like this. I couldn't put up with it for 2 minutes.
How did the heckling idiot not get laughed out of the building by suggesting that our "food is killing us"?
KMW handled him like a pro, almost congratulating him for accidentally making a point in the midst of his luddite whinge.
But people who suggest our modern food is "unhealthy" seem to be overlooking the fact that lifespan has never been higher or and health has never been more 'easily attainable'
Or that you can easily avoid getting super fat by not drinking sugary drinks which is the main driving factor behind obesity.
There is no food as heavily correlated with obesity as sugary drinks like Coke.
So it's not even our food that is ruining our health, it's people who drink massive amounts of soda.
"sugary drinks which is the main driving factor behind obesity."
No.
But nice try. Soda consumption peaked in 1993 or so.
Its behavior, not food.
Not according to the Harvard School of Public Health.
Its bullshit, irish
Obesity rates have been rising for 3 decades, while soda consumption is about 1/3 of what it was in the early 1990s.
You can find a bunch of bullshit studies on anything you want. Soda does not make people fat. We consumed way more in the past (think 1970s-1990) and we were much thinner as a whole.
its behavior.
Obesity rates - rising for decades
Soda Consumption = declining for decades.
What beverages have people been replacing soda with? There are many, many other sugary drinks that are not soda. You can get just as obese on "100% pure, natural organic apple juice."
Ahemmm.
The increase in obesity directly correlates to the shift in the mix in our macronutrients. We shifted more of our calories away from fat intake and into carbohydrate intake as a percent of total calories consumed. The total number of calories Americans are consuming have increased with that shift primarily because the way insulin affects our appetite.
Soda is part of that dynamic, but just part.
"The total number of calories Americans are consuming have increased "
Wow its almost like food is cheap and poor people like to eat it.
Almost. Food that contains carbohydrates is cheap. Food that contains high quality protein and fat are expensive. You do the math.
http://www.amazon.com/Big-Fat-.....we+get+fat
Clearly we need to tax our corn and sugar subsidies.
Also, foods high in carbohydrates spike insulin levels and depress leptin. Leptin is the hormone responsible for appetite suppression or that feeling of fullness. Almost all obese people eat diets very high in carbohydrates. To lose weight eat fewer carbohydrates and more fat and protein. That's it.
"To lose weight eat fewer carbohydrates and more fat and protein. That's it."
I knew someone would finally come up with a way for me to never have to exercise. If only someone had thought of this before, and possibly put it in a book.
Paging Dr. Atkins.
And the U.S. goverment has spent literally my entire life pushing a high-carb diet.
Oooh... BAN SODAS!!!1!!eleven!
/prog
Or that you can easily avoid getting super fat by not drinking sugary drinks which is the main driving factor behind obesity.
IMO, you and GILMORE are arguing about why the rest of the world vis-a-vis proggies hates Miller Lite more.
Tastes great! Less filling!
See above. Even if we drank zero sugary drinks, grew all our own superfood locally, and looked like greek gods, Proggies would shame us for not embracing a wider range of more worldly body types equally and for nationally isolating/hoarding our superfood and superfood growing techniques.
I keep seeing "don't eat franken food"
How about skipping Frank and just eat the food?
I had no idea Al Franken also maintained an agricultural monopoly
::monkeys clapping::
Katherine's response to the heckler is pretty good.
The audience has so many feels. Who cares about feeding people when it just makes so much more sense to go to farmer's markets and eating organic and fair trade and whatever man. SUSTAINABILITY FTW!
That was excessively edited. The responses often sounded incoherent because there was obviously quite a bit of content in between that was snipped out. At least I hope it was.
I didn't listen to the whole thing, but after Ms. Progressive twice responded to talk about government banning certain foods like McDonald's with "poor single moms don't have any choice about what food to buy", I was kinda done. I cannot believe that KMW didn't point out each and every time that the only choice being limited for them is the one that Ms. Progressive advocates that the government eliminate by force of law.
And I mean "cannot believe" as in "I am quite certain that she did point it out and it just got left on the editing room floor".
That being said, "I don't like being around fat people" is a pretty dumb line for a panel show.
We need GMOs so we can do more Ethanol to put into our cars to damage our engines and not go as far as gasoline, and keep gasoline prices high since you need fuel to produce ethanol, and keep the big government crony subsidies.
And sugar beets (a local concern) where we produce sucrose crystals that don't contain anything else - can you beet that? Of course Fructose in high doses seems toxic, regardless of GMO origin.
Not so fast. It's Vanity Fair. Same cloth as Rolling Stone.
Sorry, I was channeling the Finns.
We think they're all gay.
Where are my frikkin' tags?
Damn Reason bots
*deep Finnish baritone* We think they're all gay. *EOL*
Yeah. I hope Mr. Mangu (or Mr. Ward, whichever it is) doesn't come across this.
not you too!
Your average Finns.

They are like Americans, but drunker
