Shouldn't that be a green mosque?

  2. Will4Freedom   11 years ago

He appointed himself king, professor, economist, super-hero, judge, weatherman, etc... I guess he could appoint himself "Reverend".

    1. Pathogen   11 years ago

It worked for Sharpton, sooo.. why not?

  3. straffinrun   11 years ago

Yeah, good one. Anyways, here's something for you wake n bakers.

    1. Libertarian   11 years ago

Nice idea for a short art film -- but do you have any idea how much carbon he released driving around Tokyo like that?

  4. Drake   11 years ago

    It is an apocalyptic cult.

    1. Gweskoyen   11 years ago

Apocalyptic cults usually don't try to *prevent* existential risks.

      1. Libertarian   11 years ago

I like where this is headed. Please, go on.......

      2. Pathogen   11 years ago

Ahhh.. that's the beauty of it.. Politicians and others have no intention of *preventing* the coming apocalypse, they merely want to throw our money at the "problem", and fundamentally alter our way of life.. and curtail ~200 of human progress. According to their Top Men, we crossed the AGW Rubicon a decade ago, and we are all doomed any way..

        1. sarcasmic   11 years ago

Everything that we do uses energy. By controlling energy (since it's production is killing the planet) then they can control every nuance of our lives. It's not about money; it's about power. Total power and control over everyone and everything. Remember Orwell: power is not a means; it is an end.

  5. Gweskoyen   11 years ago

So something that is consensus with scientists is likened to a church, and for some reason Obama is cast as representative.

    Bullshit.

    1. straffinrun   11 years ago

I think you don't know what fat tail risk is.

    2. soflarider   11 years ago

I guess you missed the part where the Messiah started to heal the Earth.

      1. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

+1 this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal

        1. straffinrun   11 years ago

Trigger warning! I'm trying to eat here.

    3. Pathogen   11 years ago

But.. he's a Noble laureate.. how could you dismiss his achievements so casually? Apostate!

    4. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

"So something that is consensus with scientists"

      B-

the "consensus = science and proof and stuff" has been overdone. Try again.

    5. WTF   11 years ago

Science is not done by consensus, and anything that is not falsifiable, like AGW, is not science.

      1. sarcasmic   11 years ago

But those scientists are like really smart and stuff! And they voted! They voted! Voting is magic!

    6. Enjoy Every Sandwich   11 years ago

The idea that we can "fix" the climate by giving the government complete control of the economy is whackier than anything I've ever heard from a snake handler.

  6. Charles Easterly   11 years ago

    Hurricanes and pestilence and locusts?

    Hurricanes and pestilence and locusts?

Hurricanes and pestilence and locusts - oh my!

  7. Bee Tagger   11 years ago

    Hillary's pantsuits are spreading.

    1. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Tim Russert said the same thing.

      1. Charles Easterly   11 years ago

        eeeeeewwwww!

        /me

        1. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

          Seconded.

          1. SQRLSY One   11 years ago

            Thirded. And stuff!

  8. Mike M.   11 years ago

It's June 5, and it was about 58 degrees when I left the house this morning. How's that "global warming" working out for y'all?

    1. sarcasmic   11 years ago

Dude, that's just weather, and everyone knows that weather isn't climate. Now if it was 100 degrees then that would be a climate event, because it fits the narrative. But when it doesn't then it's just weather. Silly denier. Everyone knows this.

      1. Ted S.   11 years ago

Yeah; one of my podcast feeds had this:

Flash floods on the rise - Prof Iain White

The floods we've seen in Dunedin and Wellington will become more common because of increased urbanisation and climate change. Professor Iain White, an international expert on water management from Waikato University, joins us to discuss why it's getting worse, and what could be done to alleviate floods in the future.

  9. Slammer   11 years ago

A step and fetch waiter holding a menu in front of a giant temple covered in graffiti and snakes and pubic bushes? This cartoon is AC level weird.

    1. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

Payne is a busy man - he doesn't have time to fill in and finish drawing and stuff like that!

  10. Pompey   11 years ago

Why are Henry Payne cartoons so much better than Chip Bok cartoons? It's a question like "Why is deep dish pizza so much better than all the alternatives?" it is self-evident.

    1. Lord Humungus   11 years ago

      *warily eyes Pompey*

      1. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

        *basilisk stare at LH*

        1. Charles Easterly   11 years ago

          *admires life-like statue*

  11. Lord Humungus   11 years ago

Why is Al Green letting Obama preach at his church?

  12. Chinny Chin Chin   11 years ago

People have been drawing the "environmentalism = religion" comparison for decades.

This is some timely and original cartoonin', Payne.

    1. Swiss Servator, Nierezeit!   11 years ago

      At least it wasn't Bok...?

  13. sloopyinTEXAS   11 years ago

None of you pedants commented in the comma before the word and?

    You're all slipping.

    1. sloopyinTEXAS   11 years ago

Also, no period at the end of the sentence. This is the grammatical version of low hanging fruit.

      Is everybody high or something?

  14. Almanian!   11 years ago

I come here late and not ONE of you fucking losers

    *SLAP!*

    someone?

You are all dead to me, Reasonoids. Which is awful, therefore, perfect to Friday "Funnies". Fuck you all to hell.

  15. buybuydandavis   11 years ago

that's just one piece of the Catechism of the progressive theocracy
