Watch the Worst Anti-Gun PSA of All Time, Which Encourages Kids to Steal, Endanger Themselves, and Get Expelled

Feast your eyes upon what is perhaps the most absurd anti-gun video ever made. (Full video below.)

It's astonishing how many bad ideas the creators were able to cram into a two-and-half-minute video, which concerns a child protagonist who "doesn't feel safe with a gun in my house."

First, the child steals the gun out of his mother's dresser—something no young person should ever do. Then he brings it with him to school. Kids have been shot by cops for brandishing fake weapons; bringing a real gun to school is even more reckless, and could result in serious injury or death. Last, he shows the gun to his teacher and asks her to make it go away. Any child who did this would be expelled on the spot at the very least, and could face criminal charges, regardless of any mitigating circumstances.

Lest anyone misunderstand, the video is not trying to educate young people about the terrible things that can happen when they steal their parents' guns. The PSA is anti-gun; it clearly sympathizes with the kid who wants to rid his home of the firearm, and makes no attempt to explain why his actions are wrong in every sense of the word.

Some people are worried that misinformed youngsters might see this video and decide to follow its example. It's not so easy to write off these concerns as overblown; unlike the grown adults who created this irresponsible monstrosity, children might not be aware of all the immediate, negative consequences that would follow from bringing a gun to school, even for benign reasons. In The Washington Post, Eugene Volokh explains that the PSA's creators probably wouldn't be held liable for any copycat mischief, appalling though the video may be:

I've gotten several e-mails about this ad, and one reader asked: If a child does what the protagonist did — would the filmmakers be criminally punishable or subject to civil liability?

The answer is likely no. ..

This having been said, the ad strikes me as pretty appalling.

I emailed the video's creator, Rejina Sincic, wondering if perhaps she was clueless about how bad her PSA's advice is. She did not immediately respond. A quick investigation of her Twitter feed, however, suggests that she is aware of my line of criticism, and has retweeted numerous people making similar points. She is apparently sticking with her video, and has encouraged people to share it in order to prove they are "not cowards."

Lastly, it goes without saying that the point the PSA is trying (and failing) to make about guns in the home is ignorant. A gun does not automatically make a home unsafe; for many people with children, a gun is a perfectly reasonable thing to own.

Trolling. That has got the be the most epic anti-gun trolling in the history of the internet.

Haven't you guys figured out the left by now? They prefer to stand on a pile of dead bodies rather than a theoretical soapbox.

They want your kids to mess with your guns and shoot themselves, shoot each other in the process, so they can use that to try to disarm us. It's no accident that the people who are trying to push this country towards another civil war are the same maggots who want to disarm us.

      2. 1984   10 years ago

I may be wrong but that doesn't look like a real gun to me. BB or pellet gun perhaps. Check out the end of the barrel when he give it to the teacher.

    2. Brianb1   10 years ago

Someone needs to remake this very same video and show what could actually happen if he followed their example.

After they show him taking the gun and him doing his school bit and deciding what to do they need to show a mugger/rapist breaking into the home while the mother is there alone.

After he is shown lying the gun on the teacher's desk the mother should be shown running to her room and slamming the door with the mugger/rapist in hot pursuit.

After he is taken down by the security officer and handcuffed the mother would find her gun missing and desperately calling 911.

Then they should flash to him being grilled for having brought it, doubting his story, and claiming he had planned a school shooting then changed his mind.

Back to the mother on the phone with 911 desperately needing help as the intruder attempts to break down the bedroom door while she is placed on hold due to a high call volume.

Again with the boy while they tell him the charges he'll be facing for bringing the gun to school followed by the mother being told all units are busy but they'll have an officer respond as soon as possible.

Last thing shown concerning the mother would be the intruder breaking down the bedroom door. Cut away and leave it with the boy shown with tears in his eyes or rolling down his cheek as he's led to a patrol car.

      1. Fizban   10 years ago

Go ahead and make that video and end up in the cell with Nakoula Basseley Nakoula (Benghazi video).

  2. Piso Mojado   10 years ago

If your kid can even do what the kid in this video does, you're not practicing safe storage at home.

    1. Free Society   10 years ago

A gun needs to be reachable in the event of a break-in. Safe storage can include instilling a profound understanding of safety about guns. OR just knowing your child's level of maturity about them and making that the basis of how you define 'safe storage'.

    2. Septawn   10 years ago

I would agree if the kid was 5, but not for a teen. Safe storage doesn't apply to a teen, barring mental illness or something along those lines.
Bottom-line: If you have a gun in your house and teenager who doesn't know how to handle it safely then you have failed as a parent.

  3. Bones   10 years ago

I hope tons of "good" kids get expelled for doing what this says, although I have my doubts that any kid will see this. PSAs are usually made in the hopes that children will see them but only adults ever do. Any parents with a gun in their home that does see this, sure isn't going to show it to their kid to give them any stupid ideas.

Where I could see this being a problem is for a kid who knows their friend's parent owns a gun. If they don't just wretch their clothes and call the police right away on that parent, but instead decide to do what little Johnny Dumbfuck does in the video, I hope they don't get shot by cops but do get expelled and walk through life with a criminal record. Rats deserve that fate. Where is the PSA telling kids not to be a rat? That's much better advice than stealing anyone's gun and trying to give it to authorities.

    1. Rhywun   10 years ago

I remember the old sitcoms like Leave it to Beaver and Brady Bunch would always have an episode teaching the kids not to rat each other out. I doubt kids are learning that lesson today.

    3. CatoTheElder   10 years ago

The ad is so boring that I doubt that any kid who stumbled upon it would watch it to completion.

I also doubt that any responsible gun-owning parent's kids would follow the incredibly stupid example suggested by this video. They will know the three things to do when they see a firearm: 1) don't touch, 2) leave the area, and 3) tell a responsible adult. If the parents are good and the gun is in the house, the responsible adult would be the kid's parent. (If they're really shitty parents, it may be better that the kid not know these steps ... the kid is more likely to get plugged by the SWAT team dispatched to his home.)

      1. Bones   10 years ago

"Why do you hate your own dog, Johnny?"

      2. (????)?? ???   10 years ago

The ad is so boring that I doubt that any kid who stumbled upon it would watch it to completion.

Seriously. This video elicits so much ennui that any kid forced to watch it will definitely be going for the gun, but not to turn it in.

      3. Overt   10 years ago

This PSA was clearly not directed at kids, but at parents.

The whole point of the video was for a parent to watch that troubled, sad kid take his mom's gun to school and think, "Oh fuck, he's about to go on a shooting spree! Think of the children!"

Then, while the images of another Columbine run through the adult's head, they are shocked to see that the kid they thought was going to be a demon is actually "the most responsible person around". Isn't that clever?

The real insidious nature of this film is not that it might get kids to take guns to school, but that it is yet another example of the Anti-Gun Nutjobs trying to use emotions around very rare occurrences like Columbine to scare people into doing their bidding.

  4. sarcasmic   10 years ago

A gun does not automatically make a home unsafe

But statistics say that people are more likely to be shot in a home with a gun than a home without a gun! That proves that guns make homes unsafe!

      Citation missing.

  5. antisocial-ist   10 years ago

Aside from everything pointed out in the article, the video doesn't even make sense in its own universe. Little Johnny is scared shitless to be in the same building as a gun, but he has no problem carrying it around with him all day? Is it too much to ask that the pussies that spout this hysterical bullshit be internally consistent for 30 seconds? Also, there's a golden opportunity here to make a counter ad where little Johnny's house gets robbed by meth heads that night.

    1. some guy   10 years ago

Twist: The meth head is Johnny's teacher's son. After overhearing a story about a dumbass who turned in a gun at school, the son knew exactly which house to target. Also he steals the gun from his Johnny's teacher and uses it to commit the crime... for extra irony.

    2. Entropy Void   10 years ago

      Counter ad:

      End scene, that night
Close up of Little Johnny's face as he is being raped by Methhead Man.
Foley artist brings in whimpering voice of Mom: Where is my gun? Where is my fucking gun?

  6. Michael   10 years ago

This is begging for a meme. I want to see people film their own frame-by-frame versions featuring kids surrendering all manner of ridiculous objects they deem "dangerous" to their teachers.

  7. Jordan   10 years ago

    Reminds me of 1984:

    'Who denounced you?' said Winston.

'It was my little daughter,' said Parsons with a sort of doleful pride. 'She listened at
the keyhole. Heard what I was saying, and nipped off to the patrols the very next
day. Pretty smart for a nipper of seven, eh? I don't bear her any grudge for it. In fact
I'm proud of her. It shows I brought her up in the right spirit, anyway.'

    1. some guy   10 years ago

This, combined with the kids who were picked up by the cops while walking home from the park. I assume the cops in that story spent the whole ride telling the kids to rat out their parents if they were ever left alone again.

      1. mad.casual   10 years ago

In all fairness, if a 1/2 mi. ride with the police duly influences your kids at a depth greater than 'bright shiny lights', they are probably better off with someone whom the state pays to ignore them.

  8. Michael Ejercito   10 years ago

I hope the Obama girls do not take the video advice and steal the guns of the Secret Service detail.

No matter how we disagree with President Obama's policies,. we should at least wish for his family's safety.

MSNBC - We ned to get rid of the notion that kids belong to belong to their parents or their family and instead to the community.

  10. some guy   10 years ago

Is it just me or does that first picture make little Johnny look vaguely menacing?

    1. Overt   10 years ago

That's the point. They want you to think the kid is going to take the gun to school and start shooting people. It is only at the end that they reveal HE wasn't the monster. It was all of us. GET IT? YOU MONSTER?

  11. Bones   10 years ago

The best way to end this nonsense is to get Progressive's kids to turn them in for anything they can find.

    Also, open carry around pants-wetters.

  12. Anonymous Coward   10 years ago

If little Billy stole my $400 gun and gave it to some public education shrew, he won't be welcome back in my house with $400 or the gun.

I thought I taught you better, little Billy. Never go against the family.

    1. Eggs Benedict Cumberbund   10 years ago

      Billy sleeps with the fishes

    2. GILMORE   10 years ago

" Never go against the family."

which is an angle of this thing that isn't even touched on = that its suggesting 'kids know better' than their actual parents (undermine the family) and that school teachers are an effective proxy for 'Government Officials' and are therefore the most trustworthy people on earth.

You'd think that kids fresh out of college would grok marxist propaganda when they saw it.

  13. Entropy Void   10 years ago

It's astonishing how many bad ideas the creators were able to cram into a two-and-half-minute video, which concerns a child protagonist who "doesn't feel safe with a gun in my house."

I dont feel safe with Rejina Sincic having internet access.
Can we send her IP to the Norks?

Your house, kid? This is my house, I pay the bills, so they are my rules. Don't like it? Move out.

      /mumbles
Your house. Who does ... stupid little ... i'ma show you whose house ...

  14. Iron Sun 254   10 years ago

I'd like someone to refilm this, only have the boy go home and find his mother dead from a home invasion, lying next to the dresser with the draw open.

The boy starts to cry "If only I had gotten the gun out sooner!"

    1. Just jim   10 years ago

If I were to refilm it, I would keep it the same, but when little Billy gives his teacher the gun and tells her he doesn't feel safe with this in the home, the teacher says "My my Billy, this won't do!" The teacher reaches under the desk and pulls out a Saiga with a 10 round stick mag, and hands it to Billy. Billy gleefully grabs the gun and says "Thank you ma'am, I'll feel much safer with this." as Billy runs home to show his mom, who smiles and hugs him when she sees what he's brought home.

      1. Monty Crisco   10 years ago

Those Saiga mags are just damn finicky... but damn if having a shoulder-mounted artillery piece doesn't give you a little goose of confidence...

      2. Some call me Tim?   10 years ago

That's perfect. Then end it with the voice over of Joe Biden saying "Buy a shotgun."

  15. EasyEight   10 years ago

And one of the creepy things is the idea that you should teach children to inform on their parents. Since the "Progressives" don't trust citizens with firearms, only Cops (who are apparently racist and violent, so try to figure THAT logic out!), they wish to overturn gun rights. And one of their methods is to turn children against their parents.

The Revolution always needs Child Heroes?

  16. Free Society   10 years ago

Her twitter feed is just SJW bullshit. At one point she is bemoaning that she was racially profiled because a saleslady at Macy's insinuated that she couldn't afford some perfume. She moved here voluntarily from India to live in a society built and run by white devils, poor her.

  17. pronomian   10 years ago

I love how they deal primarily in emotion apart from facts. They should make another video on how this kid was arrested, suspended from school, have a criminal record, have his life ruined because of this.

    1. Chumby   10 years ago

I'm not 100% certain but it does look like he points the firearm at the teacher. That is assault with a deadly weapon.

Had the school allowed the NRA to come in and teach all the students proper firearm safety, he would have never pointed the muzzle of a gun at a person that didnt deserve it.

  18. DWC   10 years ago

Whomever coined the expression "gun violence" desires an award of some kind.

  19. I. B. McGinty   10 years ago

The kid is at least handling the firearm properly. I guess even in an anti-gun PSA they still have to practice safety. I wonder if the camera operators are wearing OSHA approved hard hats...

  20. Stephdumas   10 years ago

One poster at The Gateway Pundit is right on target.

I wonder if someone will do a parody of that PSA? Sometimes parodies are better then the real one. I could imagine the kid saying "I don't feel safe at a public school now" and the message said "go to a charter/private school or homeschooling". 😉

  21. bob sacomano   10 years ago

But sad piano says we must be sad that guns exist, or something.

  22. Julien Couvreur   10 years ago

That mom surely looks like someone you can't talk to and have a discussion about the gun first.
The teacher apparently is trustworthy enough to bring a gun to (in very dangerous conditions), but not to involve in a discussion first.
How do kids grow up with so little trust and bonding with adults around them?

  23. Parade's End   10 years ago

Jesus Christ, follow the link to the twitter feed and behold the appalling face of modern progressivism. The murderous naivete, the beaming self-regard, the fantasy--"Storyteller, Director, Writer"--the utter inanity--"I thrive when I am surrounded by high energy people!"--------behold. It is one side of the Janus face of the State--turn it around and its sickly, do-gooder smile is replaced by the heavy blank stare of a cop.

A quick investigation of her Twitter feed...

    GAH!!

    Must. Stop. Looking. Twitters.

    Every time... its... like this...

That said - "PSA": 'public service announcement'? I thought that those things were paid for by the State and involved a Talking Bear telling me (for some reason) that "Only I" could prevent forest fires (*Not true! Sometimes it rains). Or a Talking Dog dressed like a flasher who told me to "Take a Bite Out of Crime" (*actually, that is equally bad advice says my dentist) Or a man cooking eggs who told me he wanted to eat my brains. Still don't understand that one: I confess, i was high when i saw it.

Anyway, is anything paid for by private groups still a PSA? I thought it required public funding and had to be shown between Saturday afternoon cartoons to qualify. It seems this thing is only on the internet, and the internet is just for porn and insulting people. Obviously it would serve no purpose there.

  26. Steve G   10 years ago

She is apparently sticking with her video, and has encouraged people to share it in order to prove they are "not cowards."

Hmm. Won't let me post the link...

  29. buybuydandavis   10 years ago

"doesn't feel safe with a gun in my house."

The near term goal for a while isn't to take people's guns by force, but to delegitimize private possession of guns.

The zero tolerance policy on gun shaped pop tarts isn't insane, because the zero tolerance is for even thinking that one might have a gun one day. That's the target, not actual guns.

  30. wrxdave   10 years ago

Not to mention all of the obvious insanity, it also shows the kid handling the gun repeatedly with his finger on the trigger (though I had to go frame by frame to see it all), so it further reinforces blatantly unsafe firearm handling practices. It's a wonder the kid doesn't accidentally shoot somebody - no wonder he doesn't feel safe. Maybe his parents should have introduced him to firearms and safe firearms handling at a very young age as all kids should be and all of this dangerous behavior could be avoided. I think this would be a great promo for NRA youth educational programs.

  31. Malvolio   10 years ago

It was almost normal for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children. And with good reason, for hardly a week passed in which The Times did not carry a paragraph describing how some eavesdropping little sneak ?'child hero' was the phrase generally used ? had overheard some compromising remark and denounced its parents to the Thought Police.

  32. HolgerDanske   10 years ago

Last scene could be the boy at the morgue identifying his mother's body. He points to her, while needing to raise both hands becauae he is cuffed.

I'm reminded of the 11 year old kid who turned in his parents for smoking weed after DARE went to his school. Hopefully, most kids know that they should trust their parents instead of the state.

Start working at home with Google! It's by-far the best job I've had. Last Wednesday I got a brand new BMW since getting a check for $6474 this - 4 weeks past. I began this 8-months ago and immediately was bringing home at least $77 per hour. I work through this link, go to tech tab for work detail

I'm no longer astonished at the poor judgment exhibited by the reflexive people/gun control crowd. It seems to be their trademark.

Looks like the leftard in question has marked the video private now. I guess enough people of her faction told her how fucking stupid it was.
