Dad Left Kids in Car At Police Station Parking Lot. Now He's Got New Charges.
The precinct parking lot is not exactly a high-crime area.

A New Jersey man got a rude surprise after he left the local police station's violations bureau (where you pay your parking tickets). From the press office—really, they brag about this kind of thing?—of the Cherry Hill PD:
On July 21, 2014 at 1312 hours, police were alerted to a vehicle containing two unattended children parked on the rear lot of the Cherry Hill Police Administration Building. Police located the vehicle, which was occupied by two children ages 3 and 1. The passenger window of the vehicle was found in the lowered position. A short time later Police located the driver who reported that he had been inside the building at the Violations Bureau. The driver was arrested at this time and charged with endangering the welfare of the children.
Charges: Endangering the Welfare of a Child – 3rd Degree. Released on a summons.
The fact that the guy rolled down the windows says to me that he did his best to make sure his children were comfortable and trusted that the precinct parking lot is not exactly a high-crime area. But sometimes it's hard to catch a break.
As a wise musician once said, "They'll stone you when you're walkin' on the floor… They'll stone you when you're walkin' to the door…"

That's good work, boys.
It probably took 25 minutes - don't give 'em too much credit...
"police were alerted to a vehicle containing two unattended children parked on the rear lot of the Cherry Hill Police Administration Building."
See Something Say Something.
A 3 yr old an a 1 yr old not cool jackie.
Any conceivable bad thing must be treated as inevitable.
Those kids will be better off in foster care.
Under that rule, they'll be abused by the foster parents, so there's no benefit to taking them away from the actual parents.
The cops could have put him into cardiac arrest when they arrested him, so why aren't the cops being charged with reckless endangerment?
The Higher Standard (of evidence)
He left his children alone around a bunch of cops. Clear case of child endangerment. Only thing that could have been worse is if he left a dog in the car with them.
"We had to flash-bang the car conduct a dynamic entry and empty three magazines into the weapons discharged themselves repeatedly vicious Pomeranian Pit bull* in order to rescue the children. The children contraband persons have been seized and are being held as evidence placed in state care. All officers made it home safely from this disastrously dangerous situation. HTH."
*Offical policy is to designate any dog which is not a sworn K-9 Officer as a 'Pit Bull'. Redact this annotation before relasing public statements.
Bravo!
Heroic, what video are you trying to link to in your name? It gives an error when attempt to look at it.
It's true. If you left your kids alone in front of a mob house you'd be asking for trouble. I don't see the difference here.
Almost, but not quite related: huge number of police/detectives working on the Brooklyn American flag brouhaha. Some of them pulled off serious cases, such as murder cases. I see this as being evidence that the NYC government is aware that ridicule (laughing at the kabuki theater security) is the first step of changing the status quo.

Well, seeing as NYC is home to The Phantom Stranger, it doesn't take a genius.
Yeah well Boston has the Phantom Gourmet
Funny story about the Phantom Gourmet. I went to their Hot Dog Safari about a month ago. They stopped me at the gate because they could see the clip to my pocketknife, and they forced me to leave it with "security" until after the event. Nobody said jack shit about my concealed pistol, though.
"Safety!"
Hey, Rasilio, aren't you in the Lowell area (iirc from another comment you left)? We should get a local group together sometime to go shooting and drinking and bitching about the government.
Watching the response to that stunt has me wishing I pulled it off. What a fucking joke.
One of them was heard fretting that the white flags were like a symbol meaning "bomb here".
*facepalm*
Everyone knows from playing Minesweep that its a RED flag that means "bomb here"
I wouldn't credit the government of NYC with that much self-awareness.
He could have left them locked in the waiting room for 31 hours - that's not a big deal, is it?
Look, if this is going to be another day filled with nut punches I am gonna leave y'all to it. I refuse to have my day ruined.
I slept well last night, today is my wife's last day, retiring after 31 years. I sat down and cued up some nice music...
The very lickalicious Aoife O'Conovan and equally scrumptious Brittany Haas and Lily Henley ( If you poured honey on them they wouldn't be any sweeter) -

I am restoring my great grandmother's fiddle, so I think I will go work on that. Y'all have fun.
How did you get three links in your post?
Some commenters are more equal than others.
Happy days my friend.
*slap!*
"The fact that the guy rolled down the windows says to me that he did his best"
Actually, he should have taken the two kids into the police station and hoped they turned into screaming brats. When the cops complained,
"Hey, you don't want me leaving them in the car do you?"
Do you want the kids to get shot?
"Shut those kids up! I said shut those fucking kids up! Your kids are still making noise! I gave you a lawful command! Now you're going to get your ass kicked!"
OH, FOR GOD'S SAKE!! LEAVING A 3 YEAR OLD AND A 1 YEAR OLD ALONE IN A CAR IS INCREDIBLY STUPID. THE GUY IS A BONEHEADED ASSHAT AND HE DID INDEED ENDANGER HIS KIDS.
He had a choice: which is more dangerous - a parked car, or a building full of cops?
I think he made the right call.
so give him a warning, but arresting him impacts the kids.
If it is "all about the children", then how is separating a child from a parent beneficial?
Money/time spent in the legal system over this is a waste to the family AND THE COMMUNITY
People who leave toddlers in cars alone are imbeciles.
Libertarians who try to defend such imbeciles, by extension, look like imbeciles.
But y'all go on with your cophate.
Sorry, but no one in his right mind leaves a 1-year-old and a 3-year old alone in a car. Period. This is not like the story the other day about an 11 year old.
and trusted that the precinct parking lot is not exactly a high-crime area.
When in reality a precinct parking lot is the highest crime area of them all.
