Norman McLaren's 1940 cartoon Stars and Stripes
Happy Fourth of July:
That's Stars and Stripes, a cartoon hand-drawn onto film in 1940 by the talented Scottish-Canadian animator Norman McLaren. McLaren lived in the U.S. when he made it, but it is ultimately the view of a man passing through. (He was here for only about two years.) Still, I'd say he captured the spirit of the holiday fairly well.
