Brickbat: Police State

Officials in Campbell, Wisconsin, have placed police chief Tim Kelemen on leave after he admitted using a Tea Party activist's name and email address to create accounts on pornographic, dating and insurance websites from both his home and work computers. Kelemen was apparently upset that Tea Party activists have protested and filed a federal lawsuit over the city's decision to bar political protests on a pedestrian walkway on Interstate 90.

This guy is going to go far.
He looks like a kid. A stupid kid.
A stupid kid with a badge. FTFM.
And a gun. And the right to exercise state power against people. And a union that will fight for his right to keep doing so, no matter how stupid a bully he is
A police union's primary purpose is to shield officers from facing penalties of the criminal actions they routinely commit.
He looks older in this video of his interview with the district attorney.
Kelemen Confession
Start at 2:50. Kelemen is the guy on the left.
It's amusing to watch the cop talk about the "tea party guy" who is "nuttier than fuck", lie about his involvement in the harassment, and then confess to his crime when confronted with the evidence.
The link seems to be SFed. I found this -

"nuttier than fuck"
Nice band name.
Nice band name.
Or the new slogan for Planter's.
Excellent.
Indeed. In the former you should lose your job. In the latter you should lose your job and go to jail.
If you think about this.it is.almost more disturbing than.some.other police abuse stories. Usually, the offender seems to.be driven by a personal desire to maintain/abuse his authority (the typical "contempt.of.cop" cases).
In this.one, the.cop is.acting individually to explicitly defend an abusive practice of the State itself by using insidious police state tactics like character assassination. One could easily imagine this cop, as his career progressed, graduating to more and more insidious.methods such as.framing political foes for crimes.
Yes, but fortunately, he appears to stupid to do so. Sometimes we get lucky.
Imagine how many are like him further along their careers.
/shivers down spine.
Sounds like some pretty serious business to me dude.

"Officials in Campbell, Wisconsin, have placed police chief Tim Kelemen on leave"
It says *paid* leave.
(in the linked article)
Isn't that identity theft?
Nope, just a 'lapse in judgement.'
And nothing else happened
