Rand Paul vs. Ron Paul in Baseball Uniforms: Who Wore It Better?
I present this important issue because it long ago became clear that we're all just being dreamed by Philip K. Dick anyway.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) recently showed up to give a speech at the Leadership Institute wearing a baseball uniform (he had his reasons, ABC News explains).
Meanwhile, here's a shot of Rand's pa, former Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), all duded up in just about the worst-ever MLB uniform this side of Atlanta's mid-1970s Chevron gas-station attendant numbers:
So in the spirit of US Weekly, tell us kind readers: Who wore it better?
This seems like as good as place as any to point out that one of the many things that makes baseball great is the rule that only uniform-wearing jamucks are allowed on the field during a game, thereby forcing fat old men (think Tommy Lasorda or Lou Piniella) to waddle out to home plate or the pitcher's mound with less dignity than the San Diego Chicken or the Phillie Phanatic. It is humiliating for the audience, the players, and the managers themselves, yes. But it shows commitment to the team, too (screw you, Burt Shotton, there's no I in team!). All professional sports should force their coaches and managers to wear the same clothing the players do. IMAO.

Call me crazy, but I don't hate the Astros uniform. But even if you think it is the worst in the history of professional baseball, a "Republicans" uniform is so, so much worse.
"Teamwork"
Slow news day?
First rule of campaigning is never wear a costume.

Well now we know why Ron Paul never won the presidency. If you put on a lAstros uniform even once, you will carry their spirit of awful ineptness for the rest of your days. I feel bad for Dexter Fowler.
If they hadn't spent the late 90s and early 2000s being the pitching farm team for the rest of the league... But that would have required a payroll.
They're about to turn things around, now that they're in the American League!
Wait till next year!
Right. Well, the Lastros only have 56 years from whenever the Cubs finally win it all to go before being the longest-suffering fans.
"there's no I in team!"
Yeah? But there is an "m" and an "e", mutha...
/Alan Iverson wannabe
No, but there is an "I" in win. And I'm trying to win this game, coach!
"Yeah, well there ain't no 'we' either."
Great Bud ad.

I still think the worst MLB uniforms I've seen are the old Padres ones where yellow and brown were the dominant colors.
Their camo uniforms are pretty awful, too.
IMAO.
Is that an 'I' or an 'l'?
Ron has the shorter pants with the stirrups for his socks, therefore he is the defacto winner of this competition.
Plus, he is wielding a dangerous weapon.
Stirrups are the only appropriate socks for a baseball uniform.
IMAO
In My Ass Only?
In My Asinine Opinion.
In My Ass. Opinion?
Ew.
Seriously?
So gross.

Here ya go
Is it completely wrong to say that I find the increasing publicity surrounding Congress' recreational softball league distasteful?
I've got nothing against them joining competitive sports leagues or whatever on their free time...I just don't care that they have lives outside of their work.
My sister played in that league back in the day. Ted Kennedy's team would schedule games in Anacostia because they could get a fair number of wins by default when the other team wouldn't show up.
Ron looks tougher in his uniform. Rand is one of those cosmotarians.
Unfortunately, they both look like reserve infielders who batted maybe .210 for their short career.
Maybe it's the pose and the 'old' feel of the photo, but Ron looks much better. I don't know what his son's reasons were but he should not have worn that thing.
I hate basketball, but the one good thing about it is the coaches are dressed like professional adults. I wish more sports would allow coaches to do so.
I thinks the San Diego Padres uniforms from the 1970s were the worst.
So i understand why Rand is wearing a uniform...
Why the hell is Ron wearing one? Did he play for the Astros?
Same reason: the Congressional baseball team. Back in Ron's days, Congressmen wore uniforms from the MLB teams in or near their districts. Today, like Rand, they just wear "Team REPUBLICAN" (or Dem.) uniforms, which seems an incredibly appropriate visual metaphor for who Rand Paul is vs. his father.
I would have to say Ron. Besides, he was the first player to hit a home run during the official game. Only one other home run has been hit, this one by John Shimkus, also a Republican (although Ron is really a libertarian).
