Matthew Feeney Discusses Rand Paul on the Jerry Doyle Show Tonight at 8:30 P.M. ET

At 8:30p.m. ET I will be discussing Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on The Jerry Doyle Show.
Paul, who recently addressed Jeb Bush's comments on illegal immigration, may face a well-funded neocon campaign in his widely expected 2016 presidential bid.

"Rand Paul's foreign policy extremism
"BY JENNIFER RUBIN

"...Rand Paul, the man the MSM would so dearly love to dub the "front-runner" in the GOP presidential primary, no doubt because his foreign policy views bear an uncanny resemblance to the far left's anti-interventionism and deep suspicions about America's international motivations....
"...The idea that critics of fringe foreign policy views are malicious and ignorant will strike many Republicans as the sort of treatment they receive from Democrats, especially Obama....
"Paul will need to learn to engage and not insult his critics, and defend his views in the face of virtually united opposition."

"His foreign-policy instincts are immature, to say the least.

to the far left's anti-interventionism
Huh?
It's kinda flexible. Much like their stance on civil liberties and crony capitalism.
"Paul will need to learn to engage and not insult his critics, and defend his views in the face of virtually united opposition."
Real differences between the GOP and the Democrats!
So, the NeoCons now have virtually united support for more war mongering?
What just happened when our President and Congress went on an all out campaign to start another war in Syria?
The Derp is really strong with this one.
The irony level increased geometrically as I read those quotes. Yeah Rubin you tell yourself you're not the MSM. And that it is Paul not you that needs to engage and otherwise mature. Cunt.
When Rubin has lost the Warboner in the North, you know she's gone too far.
Best. Title. Ever.
The idea that critics of fringe foreign policy views are malicious and ignorant will strike many Republicans as the sort of treatment they receive from Democrats, especially Obama.
...and it will strike many more as proof of Dr. Paul's keen grasp of the obvious.

Rand Paul needs to watch out for Ted Cruz. They both appeal about equally to a broad swath of hardcore conservatives.Fortunately the neocons and other establishment-types have as much of a problem with Cruz as they do with Paul.
The NeoCons are bleeding support. SoCons will go mostly for Cruz, at least early on in the campaign. But Cruz can't win in the general, he's too SoCon. Paul is the only chance for the GOP in 2016. I don't know if Paul will win, this country is still pretty much stuck on stupid. But it's a guarantee GOP loss for anyone except for Paul.
Fortunately the neocons and other establishment-types have as much of a problem with Cruz as they do with Paul.
Which just shows how stupid they are. Cruz's commitment to liberty is a lot softer on wiretapping and the like than Paul. Neocons could mould him but they'd rather god with Jeb Bush.
Cruz's advantage over Paul is that he is better positioned to pander to the nativist tards. Paul has wisely staked out a pragmatic stance that we might not love but is really the best we can hope for. This has deeply offended the Nativist Idiot Brigades.
But it's a guarantee GOP loss for anyone except for Paul.
Oh I think you're forcing it there. The GOP Congresscritter pickings are terrible Paul and and maybe Cruz aside but the GOP has a bevy of very good reformist if not libertarian governors who are into policy wonkery. Jindal comes to mind.
Paul is the only chance for the GOP in 2016.
Well, it's possible that the democrats would nominate someone so repugnant (Hillary) that the Republicans could win in an extremely close race with a business-as-usual nonentity like yet another Bush.
