Well, it's no disposition matrix, that's for sure.

  2. Snark Plissken   11 years ago

Not bad, Payne, not too bad.

    1. BakedPenguin   11 years ago

Yup. It's obvious what's occurring, and the punchline is decently funny.

      1. invisible furry hand   11 years ago

Except Russian healthcare is such a disaster zone it's not clear Obamacare could really make it much worse. So i'm still marking this a C-

        1. BakedPenguin   11 years ago

Hi, ifh. Did you see this?

          1. invisible furry hand   11 years ago

That was well past my bedtime, so thanks BP!

Sure, we do score highly (but not highly enough) on deregulation, but as some of the commenters note, we're a bit ordinary on things like free speech, guns, drugs, gay marriage, welfare, and of course compulsory voting. Slightly better than you on school funding, I think, as private school places are partially funded by the taxpayer, so it's that aspect of a voucher system. As a result about one-third of kids are out of the government system.

One upside of the latter however is that the Liberal Democrat senator almost certainly only got in because he was listed first on the ballot paper and enough idiots voters confused him with the Liberals (as in our Republicans) or were so apathetic they stuck a 1 next to the first name they saw (AKA the donkey vote).

Oh, and that alt-text was fully sick.

            1. BakedPenguin   11 years ago

Yeah, it's a mixed bag. But the impression I have (any feel free to disabuse me if I'm wrong) is that you're at least treading water regarding freedoms, while we are actively destroying ours.

Also, the first on the ballot strategy sounds like a good one in a country where they force you to vote. Aaron Aaronsen, Liberal Democrat candidate for Chullawunda.

              1. invisible furry hand   11 years ago

I just scribble "None of the above" or song lyrics on my ballot paper.

These things are cyclical. The current Federal Government is doing some encouraging things (flatly refusing to subsidise the car industry anymore, gutting our hate speech laws, talking tough on entitlements) but that's mostly in reaction to some previous high craziness. The libertarian moment that Reason keeps claiming is just around the corner in the US might actually happen, but only because you'll have had a gutful of the Bushbama era.

The really interesting question is whether any reforms then become the new status quo, or get rolled back when the regulatin' urge hits again. Here the great deregulation era of the 1980s is now, interestingly, invoked as a high point in public policy by both sides, even when neither emulates it.

gutting our hate speech laws [...] but that's mostly in reaction to some previous high craziness

                  Yup, like Andrew Bolt's conviction.

      2. CapitalistRunningDog   11 years ago

Agreed. Worth a smile which is above the average.

  3. BigT   11 years ago

What? No [ ] send Michelle to Russia?

    1. John Galt   11 years ago

Check the box. She can go right after she gets back from her 3-week luxury North Korean holiday.

  4. Balloon maker   11 years ago

The punch line is in the headline.

    1. Almanian!   11 years ago

I know, right? Thanks for the spoiler alert, REASON!

  5. Pompey   11 years ago

    I like it.

  6. Will4Freedom   11 years ago

    I'll give it a 'cute'.

  7. Rich   11 years ago

Speaking of Obamacare: "The president encouraged the navigators and volunteers to redouble their efforts over the next four days and leave no stone unturned in trying to bring affordable health coverage to as many Americans as possible by the March 31 deadline."

Emphasis added. "We have to pass the bill so that you can see what rock it crawls out from under."

    1. creech   11 years ago

We've all seen what is under stones that we turn over.

  8. John Galt   11 years ago

"oSAmA" had a teleprompter, too. But his is written on the cave wall behind him. That's why he needs the mirror to look behind him.

    1. Almanian!   11 years ago

"cave wall" = Neanderthal = RAAAAAAACIST!

  9. Almanian!   11 years ago

Nope, can't agree. Weak tea, plus CLEARLY not enough labels - D.

OTOH, my M1 has finally been repaired, so off to the gunsmith tomorrow to pick it up. Get home in time to hit the range and throw some brass with it.

    Woo hoo! Happy Friday, Reasonoids!

  10. Swiss Servator, mehr Spr?ngli   11 years ago

Who is O6ama, and why is there a three loop Slinky sitting on its desk?

  11. Hillary's Clitdong   11 years ago

This hits Mr. Ogama where it hurts.

  12. jmomls   11 years ago

The Russians already had their version of Obamacare from 1917-1991.

  13. plusafdotcom   11 years ago

Option 3 probably illegal under Geneva Conventions or War Powers Act...
