Porn-Filter Policymaker Arrested on Kiddie-Porn Charges
The arrest of Patrick Rock.
A senior aide to [British Prime Minister] David Cameron resigned from Downing Street last month the day before being arrested on allegations relating to child abuse images.
Patrick Rock, who was involved in drawing up the government's policy for the large internet firms on online pornography filters, resigned after No 10 was alerted to the allegations….
Rock helped to draw up government policy which led to the deal with the internet giants on online filters. Under the deal, all households connected to the internet will be contacted to be asked if they would like the filters installed.

Porn for me but not for thee!
"The Breastplate of Righteousness" strikes again!
That definition is so spot on, but it is just a form of projection.
Anybody who wants to be in a position where other people would be grossed out/disgusted/uncomfortable should be immediately and systematically refused the job, because they will almost inevitably be a fetishist of that thing.
I guess we know why this guy thinks no one else has any self control.
As part of the ruling class, he assumed he would have the password to the firewall.
Yet it is always the libertine libertarians that want to harm the children with porn, drugs, and guns.
Can't he use the Pete Townsend defense? IT WAS RESEARCH!!?
Well, it was a common theme in Townsend's poetry from the beginning of the Who, culminating in the Tommy album. His solo stuff, as well as It's Hard also periodically explore those themes. Research? A little iffy, but I will give Townsend the benefit of the doubt. Of course, in my opinion, The Who are the greatest rock-n-roll band of all time. So I might be biased.
"Mods suck, Rockers Rule!"
me personally, I'm a stones guy.
Particularly 'Exile on Main St.'... If you're a person who still thinks of 'Albums' as the unit of measure of what makes a band a great band. I always thought the Who were too goddamn melodramatic.
Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers
I agree they are melodramatic, especially Tommy and beyond. But for me, the "sweet spot" is from the beginning with My Generation, A Quick One, The Who Sell Out, Tommy, and culminating in Live at Leeds. I guess I am a Mod?
I am with Gilmore. For me Rock is all about the beat and the "roll" of it. Keith Moon, for all of his virtues, couldn't keep time. I love the Who. And Kieth's inability or unwillingness to keep proper time made them very unique. But in the end, my favorite music will always be music that swings. And no rock band has ever had swing and had that down home grove the way the Stones do.
To take Gilmore's favorite record, nothing the Who ever did makes me want to turn the music up and move as much as a song like All Down the Line or Rocks Off or Rip This Joint to name just three off of that record.
He was just.. Um, testing those filters. Obviously it's filters' fault.
God damn this stupid selfie. They don't even look attractive in it.
Every time it pops up here, I think "What a crappy photoshop job". How did they manage to take a picture that bad?
Two words: fisheye lens. Another two words: Hollywood retards.
Wife was watching Ellen on the snow day yesterday and I walked past just at the right time to discover the whole thing was just a big Samsung product placement type deal. Naturally, everyone in the audience got a free phone.

Because people who don't want porn CAN'T DO THAT THEIR OWN FUCKING SELVES.
Of course we still have to bleep swear words, because people can't manage to use the mandatory v-chip they pushed for. Or the fucking power button.
I hope he gets raped in prison.
I actually think that simple possession of any image should not be a crime. That said, knowing that it is and knowing the kind of legal trouble the possession of that crap will get you into, you really have to be a serious deranged pervert with no impulse control to possess it. Even if you got off on that crap, why would you take the chance of being branded a deviant and having your life ruined just to have something to jerk off too?
I like pictures of naked adult women. But if for some reason moved to Saudi Arabia where the simple possession of that crap could get me thrown into prison or worse, I would find another way to get off, out of self interest if nothing else.
At least don't watch them AT WORK at a government agency.
No kidding. But you would be amazed at the number of stupid people who do.
No. Depressed. They used to walk out one a month at my corrections gig for porn and/or gambling at work. And at least one a year, not all women, for sex with the trustee inmates -- who were all male. As you say, below a certain level of intelligence, convicted or not, people have only a tenuous grasp on cause and effect.
You all have this completely backwards. The point of promoting local access to filters is to reduce pressure to regulate the internet, or install some sort of global filter.
In other words, it was all part of his plan to make sure there wasn't a serious effort to police content. Instead control could be passed off to the households.
It's not a question of false righteousness. Quite the opposite. He wanted to preserve access.
The lat time I read about this the filter was mandatory opt out. You had to call to turn it off.
