FCC: Not Attempting to Meddle with Free Press
Republicans concerned study an attempt to control political journalism
The Federal Communications Commission is trying to reassure House Republicans it has no plans to restrict the freedom of the press.
In a letter released Thursday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler told Republican leaders of the House Energy and Commerce Committee his commission "has no intention of regulating political or other speech of journalists or broadcasters."
Wheeler defended new FCC research as the first step toward pinpointing "market barriers" that might affect the "diversity of media voices."

FCC: Not Attempting to Meddle with Free Press
Yeah, i'm tired of libertarians doubting the government's ability to get things done. They're meddling with free press, not attempting.
"Well, there you go. They said they're not going to meddle with a free press. No worries then." - James Clapper

Should I presume they are talking about nat'l cable news networks? It seems to be that the internet has provided endless opportunity for anyone to start any media enterprise they would like. Hence there are limitless instances of "diversity" in media. We will later discover that the FCC has more nefarious intentions.
