Privacy Board to Obama: Shut Down Bulk Telephone Data Collection, It's Illegal

Three out of five board members agree

A divided government privacy board is reportedly urging President Obama to shut down the bulk collection of telephone data by the National Security Agency and to purge its existing inventory.

The Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board is set to release a report Thursday on NSA surveillance programs.
