He not only punched him, he apparently broke the kid's jaw.

The teen was soon taken into custody and placed in an ambulance, where his feet and hands were restrained. His lips weren't, however, and when the teen reportedly mouthed off rather than answer questions, Morrow allegedly struck him on the left side of his jaw with a closed fist, breaking it on impact.

An instant later, Morrow looked at the faces around him and asked, "Nobody saw anything, right?"

After the abortion in Fullerton the other day, this is welcome news.

  3. db   12 years ago

I don't want to diminish the good news here, but I have serious doubts that the verdict would have been the same had the victim not been a member of a protected class ("children"). Hell, if it was an adult, it's possibly the deputy might never have been charged.

I say off with the losers head!

      Anonbot is getting bloodthirsty.

This is not a good sign.

  5. some guy   12 years ago

Wait, is it really a brickbat if the guy got charged, tried and sentenced? 5 years seems reasonable for an assault like this.

Or is it a brickbat because the bullshit "child abuse" charge was tacked on?

    1. Radioactive   12 years ago

no, it's cause he forgot to shoot the kids dog...guess they forgot the dereliction of duty charge.

    2. Death Rock and Skull   12 years ago

The brickbat is that the incident happened.

  6. Fist of Etiquette   12 years ago

I don't understand. The best time to hit him is when a perp is restrained.

      STOP RESISTING! RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!

  7. The Late P Brooks   12 years ago

With any luck, he'll accidentally slip and fall on the stairs and slam his head repeatedly into a steel railing.

  8. AlmightyJB   12 years ago

    Tough guy

    1. Aresen   12 years ago

He does have that "Terminator" stare.

  9. Mainer2   12 years ago

He should have beaten the kid to death, because that's ok

  10. Nicholas Sarwark   12 years ago

Five years prison is the mandatory minimum sentence for Second Degree Assault in Colorado. Sentencing range is 5-16 years. FYI.

    1. R C Dean   12 years ago

How do you get the minimum for one count when you are convicted of two? And where's the sentence for the child abuse?

Yeah, I think a brickbat is good. Even when they are convicted by a jury, the cops can always count on their co-conspirators on the bench to help them out.

    2. mattcid   12 years ago

Mandatory minimums FTW! Who would have thought?

  11. DEATFBIRSECIA   12 years ago

    Rot in prison motherfucker.

  12. Death Rock and Skull   12 years ago

I think I could take a broken jaw for a payday.

  13. Tonio   12 years ago

And don't forget that he could get off on appeal. Sorry for the Balko.
