Bloomberg Ends Term Taking Credit for Crime Drop

Even though crime went down everywhere, not just New York City

Outgoing mayor Michael Bloomberg, who, with only five days left in office, is in full-on legacy-burnishing mode, will spend today and tomorrow talking about crime, and his record in reducing it.

This morning, Bloomberg will travel to a probation services office in Queens to deliver remarks "on New York City's Record Low Incarceration Rate and Successful Crime Prevention Strategies," according to his public schedule.

Tomorrow, he will swear in over his more than 1,100 police department recruits, the final such ceremony he will preside over in his 12-year term as mayor.
