OfficeMax to Join Other Retailers Opening on Thanksgiving
For the person in your life who really needs a new filing cabinet
Joining a crowded list of its competitors, OfficeMax on Friday said it would open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving in hopes of kick-starting a strong holiday season.
Naperville-based OfficeMax, which recently completed its combination with Boca Raton, Fla.-based Office Depot, said it will start in-store Black Friday sales and "doorbuster" deals at 8 p.m. on the holiday and online at 12:01 a.m. on Black Friday. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is so named because it's the day where retailers traditionally "go into the black," or become profitable.
Black Friday sales will stretch through Saturday and feature deals on tablets, printers and tech accessories.
