Airlines Reach Agreement with DOJ for Merger
Will give up some gates and facilities at some airports
AMR Corp. and US Airways Group Inc. have reached a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department over their planned merger to create the world's largest airline.
The settlement requires US Airways and AMR's American Airlines to divest slots, gates and ground facilities at key airports around the country, the Justice Department said Tuesday.
AMR shares rose 27% to $12.13 in over-the-counter trading late Tuesday morning, while US Airways shares gained 3.44% to $24.07 before trading was halted.

So we pay FIAT to buy Chrysler, but sue to stop USAIR from buying American. That makes sense, if you're a unionized airline employee.
