Paul Ryan Approves Creation of Budget Conference

Appointment of conferees expected to be considered by the House today

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has given the green light to convening a formal House-Senate budget conference after months of delay.

A move to appoint House conferees is slated to come to the floor along with a six-week increase in the debt ceiling, under a plan unveiled by Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) Thursday morning.

House and Senate Republicans have repeatedly blocked the forming of a budget conference this year, but convening a conference could allow any debt ceiling deal to enjoy Senate fast-track procedures going forward.
