I guess Ted won't have to worry about them being back dated.
Well, Feeney changed the headline so now I look like a FOOL!

Former NSA Director Michael Hayden joked during a panel hosted by The Washington Post about putting Edward Snowden on a hit list.
It's okay because the NSA doesn't actually do the killing themselves. Or do they...?
No. They outsource that.
And when the NSA has an assassination to do, that no one can ever know about, they go to one man -- a man who lives in the shadows, whose true name is known by no one. A ruthless killer who is an expert in weapons and hand-to-hand combat, but is fluent in multiple languages and is as comfortable in a tuxedo as in camouflage. A man who other men envy and all women desire. That man is ___________________

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to make death threats in a public forum.
BREAKING: Police say suspect in custody after shooting outside Capitol, condition not disclosed.
I'm sure the kid's condition is: upset.
They were reporting that the perp was shot dead earlier. WTF?
Why is this so difficult? Is it some kinda game the cops play? Let's see how long we can go before telling the public what actually happened.
I took that to mean that the kid was taken in as a suspect.
At least as a small "person of interest".
They have to make sure he won't talk.
Well, Cisco, it could also have been a failure on the part of the press. But I do admit that it's a bit suspicious all around.
Obligatory.
I assume they are looking for a way to pin the injured cop on the suspect instead of friendly fire.
Women and children near guns! What better time to revive common sense gun safety actions...for the childen
Why is still being called a shooting? The police are the only ones that fired anything. Is that the crime we're focusing on, then?
It isn't a crime when state agents shoot and kill someone.
But maybe we can use this opportunity to highlight the need for common-sense vehicle control. To begin with, we should outlaw private ownership of black luxury sedans like the one that the alleged perp was driving, because of their scary appearance. After all, no one *needs* a black Infiniti.

Haha, yeah right. The TSA's retard brigade can barely remember how to tie their own shoes. Good luck with that.
oh, they'll be confiscating all kinds of contraband weed...accidentally.
So now the TSA will need to poke around in your medical history. It sure is a good thing the government is already building a database of this sort of thing!
They'll be able to put you directly on the no-fly and the no-gun lists.
One stop shopping.
What happens if something causes the plane to be diverted to a state where it's still illegal?
The TSA may allow airline passengers to board their flights with marijuana if they are traveling to and from states where they can legally use pot.
Sounds like the DEA is going to have to start making forced landings on commercial flights.
Of course, the TSA isn't law enforcement and pot isn't going to bring down a plane so why the fuck are they concerned about it in the first place?
It'll be like FOPA. You better pray to the voodoo sky gods that you're plane doesn't get diverted.
FOPA or FUPA...cause they are similar and related but not the same.

Putin nominated for Nobel Peace Prize
I mean at this point, why the fuck not?
What difference, at this point, does it make?
Has Putin murdered enough innocent children to qualify for the peace prize? I'd hate for it to go to someone undeserving...
I suspect there is NO qualifying criteria at all. They just reach as deeply into Warty's ass as they can and pull out the first thing they grab onto.
This time, it was Putin.
Can you ever drone enough innocent children to ensure a Peace Prize?
It's not the droning of innocent children, jesse. It's the insincere promises / fake diplomacy to stop droning the innocent children (on your kill list) that gets you the prize.
Whatever BP, the more children you drone, the more magnanimous you sound when you make empty promises to stop droning children.
"Oh gee, that fellow has been so prolific in his arbitrary child murder, wouldn't it be peachy if he stopped?"
Boom! Nobel Prize.
It would seem that Vlad has learned the art of astroturfing.
Technically, anyone can be nominated. I have several friends who have been nominated in jest.
I hereby nominate everyone who has commented on this thread for the Nobel Peace Prize.
There, now we are all Nobel nominees.

GIANT HORNET ATTACK
That sounds fucking terrifying.
Before reading the article, I was expecting the global climate change angle, and the article didn't disappoint.
The wife and I were watching NatGeo last night about Canyonlands NP. An archaeologist was positing the question "why has the paint from these ancient paintings changed so drastically in such a short time?". My first theory was that they'll find some way to blame AGW, because it's NatGeo.
Well they didn't go that far, but in the very next show, about moose, had a short segment on moose being tore up by ticks. They posited that there seem to be more moose dying via ticks of late (though there was no concrete evidence that it was the case) and blamed . . . you guessed it: Global warming. The snow is disappearing earlier and not killing the ticks which are allowing them to breed more etc etc etc.
They always find a way to blame AGW. Always. If it's bad (from a human POV), you can bet they'll spin it to blame AGW. Every. Single. Time.
To be fair, pre-AGW, most all natural history documentaries had some element of TEH EVUL HUMUNS. Acid rain, topsoil erosion, DDT, fertilizer overuse, etc. etc. etc. Different eras, different reasons we're assholes.
Sure - but when I watch a cousin channel (Sci) and see their claim "question everything" they really only mean question aliens or unknown nazi conspiracies - because they certainly aren't questioning AGW or any other "humans are evil" BS...
The snow is disappearing earlier and not killing the ticks which are allowing them to breed more etc etc etc.
Crystal Mountain opened up for earliest ski day evar.
These are winter ticks (I'm fucking enthused that we don't have winter ticks here in the bluegrass). They eat during the winter and fall off towards the end. Apparently the snow usually kills off most of them, but their theory is that the snow is disappearing earlier in the season allowing more of them to reproduce.
It's horseshit. Literally everything that can be spun to blame global warming is.
To be fair, 19th century records of moose death by tick are pretty sparse.
How could we not take such an opportunity to get a Global Warming dig in there. I mean, what else could it be?
Oh, and if these hornets are so horribly dangerous, why is there a large number of pictures with people holding them in their hands? I haz a confuze. Because I've been stung by regular hornets, and I wouldn't touch one with a fork.
Apparently, they've been spotted in the U.S. now. FFFFUUUUUUU.
I refuse to link to any of the articles because

Los Angeles has implemented new valet parking regulations.
What would those be, and why are we supposed to care about them? And, of course, it's not as if the link goes to the actual article. This sounds like something an Angeleno member of the Reason staff thinks everybody else ought to care about; the sort of thing Cavanaugh would post.

The TSA may allow airline passengers to board their flights with marijuana
FTFA: It's never technically altogether legal to fly on commercial airlines with weed because the airports all fall under federal jurisdiction, and marijuana is still illegal under federal law. So I call bullshit.
And it's becoming a pet peeve of mine that "news stories" keep saying "The TSA *may* allow this or that". Report yes/no or STFU.

The lesson here is that a failure to pull over "near the Capitol" is a death sentence worthy of national news.
And that so many of our fellow citizens are O.K. with this. Seriously, what's the difference at this point between dealing with police and dealing with a grizzly bear in the woods? Other than the grizzly isn't going to be screaming at you, and won't have the ability to kill you from 20 feet away, unlike the panic-firing officer.
Bet you we won't hear shit about any overreaction from the first set of LEOs she came across, you know, the ones that actually might have been able to deescalate this thing. We will, however, hear everything about anything that could be used to tar her character, even slightly. Visits to a shrink for depression a few years ago? Done. Prescription for Xanax? Ditto.
I wonder if one of the first cops she came across was the one who started throwing lead at her, and that's what got everyone panicked about the shots fired thing? Idiocracy's 'Costco-cops riddling the car' scene (along with the rest of the movie) looks more and more prescient as days go on.
Maybe she actually was a nut, and deliberately tried to kill the officer she ended up hitting, but I'm not taking the cops' word as gospel for how this situation evolved.
A while back in STL some idiots tried to rob a bar, in day light (mid-afternoon), and happened to pick a cop bar.
So two idiots try to hold up a cop bar where most people in the bar are off duty or retired cops and therefore armed.
A fire fight broke out in the bar - one kid shot in the leg, not sure how many bullets fired.
The news was all about how stupid the two kids were - not one single story or discussion on how starting a fire fight in a bar is a very bad thing.
Why couldn't one of the brave men stand up and say "Son - you picked the wrong place. We're all armed, most here are cops, you might want to simply walk away."
Because had it been a civilian bar with legally armed citizens who weren't LEOs - we know we'd hear "Never start a fight - just give them money and let them go" followed by "we are investigating what charges to pursue against those who discharged firearms in defense of property".
Maybe, but they jump in front of cars all the time in order to justify deadly force. I've seen more videos of this than you would believe. It must be taught in training.
It happens a ton in Houston, as you well know, Coeus. This was the first place I heard of the technique. Guessing that's what happened here. They might have gotten a bit more compliance if they didn't go straight to Defcon 1 full screaming and M4-waving. Then again, she might have had warrants, or was holding some contraband, or just didn't have her car insurance/registration paid up and wasn't going to stop anyway.
The fuck?

It's a gun-free zone. That's why the cops were the only ones shooting.
I believe legislators can still be armed - at least I know of gun-free state capitals where legislators are still armed...
Though based upon fed regs re: navy yard shooting - possible legislators cannot be armed.

A Georgia boy!
Georgia premium rate variation worst in the nation.
In Georgia's health insurance exchange, geography makes a big difference in what an individual's monthly premium will be.
Last week, Georgia Health News reported that the highest-cost region in the state, in southwest Georgia, had premiums for the cheapest "silver'' plan that were double those in three other regions, including metro Atlanta.
Kaiser Health News has now reported that the premium variation in Georgia is the biggest within any state in the country.
Kaiser Health News reported that a 40-year-old in rural southwest Georgia would pay $481 a month for a midlevel plan ? more than double the cost of someone in the eastern portion of the state, where the premium is $238.
Insurance commissioner Ralph Hudgens pretty much sabotaged the ACA in Georgia out of spite.
Kulak wreckers!!
It is only the machinations of the bourgeois saboteurs that prevents us from fully achieving the Glorious Healthcare Revolution!
So, it's someone else's fault. That's what I love about progressive retards.
Being a leftist means never having to say you're sorry. Stalin never apologized, did he?
Does Ralph Hudgens set the premium rates? If no, I'm not sure what he has to do with the variation. If yes, then it worries me that one man gets to set premium rates.
Hudgens gets to exclude insurers. The wide variation is due to the fact only one bidder was permitted in certain areas.
So government interference of markets is having a negative impact?
Only because we need TOP MEN
Is it wrong that I read that as 481 a month for a Medieval plan.
Buy nine leeches, get the tenth free!
Finally my insurance will cover the trepanning I so desperately need!
As long as doctors get to wear those weird crow masks from the Black Plague period I'm ok with this.
Leaches have a co-pay.
In other words, laws will soon be forthcoming declaring that premiums must be uniform within a state.
So they finally found one.
A 21 year old who is paying $175/month for a policy. When I was 21 (ten years ago), I was able to get a policy for $65/month.
Ya, way to bring them premiums down.
I wonder what that $65 a month would be adjusted for inflation?
$82.62

WTF woman, you all lie about your weight in your profiles anyway.
Couldn't the lasses just self-identify by putting in their actual weight?
Also, and this goes to the men, you should put your ACTUAL height in. My dad is almost exactly 6' tall. I KNOW what 6' looks like, and THAT is not 6' in height.
Fine, then stop lying about your age, burying some "it has my age wrong but I have no idea how to change it, tee-hee" BS in the bowels of your profile in the middle of paragraph three about your fucking cats.
Just sayin'.
I saw that OKCupid had run some kind analysis and the average guy was lying by 2 inches on his height.
For the record, I list 6', which is as accurate as the site allows me to be with my 5'11.75".
I'm lying by 2", but not on my height.
I'm lying by 2", but not on my height.
I was just having a conversation with someone about "internet inches" earlier. FUCK INTERNET INCHES
Yes, but the lying is not evenly distributed amongst the male population. I recall reading a study to the effect that men stop lying once they're 6'2" or more in height.
Yea, and bikini models don't lie about their body type.

If you're a bikini model, you don't have to, I can see it, right there, in front of me.
That tracks. I used to be 6'2, and that's what I told people. Now I'm 6'1 and I still say 6'2.
You know your height to that degree? I dont know how tall I am....5'9" or 10" ? Something like that. I dont think about it that much or care.
Technically I know my height as of 5 years ago that well. I haven't had a doctor measure it since.
Shouldn't everybody by now know to subtract 2 inches in height, add 20 pounds, and subtract 20% of income? Not difficult.
Wouldn't "public" just be a profile photo? No, curtains and drapes must be matched to verify that they haven't just painted red in.

Just don't step on it with bare feet: Grad students build nanometer-resolution atomic force microscope using LEGO and 3D printer.
http://www.gizmag.com/lego-arduino-na.....lego2nano/
Scanning atomic force microscopes, first introduced into commerce in 1989, are a powerful tool for nanoscale science and engineering. Capable of seeing individual atoms, commercial AFM prices range between US$10K and $1M, depending on the unit's features and capabilities. During the recent LEGO2NANO summer school held at Tsinghua University in Beijing, a group of Chinese and English students succeeded in making a Lego-based AFM in five days at a cost less than $500.

Networks Embrace 'Catastrophic' Warnings of Latest IPCC Report
The UN's climate panel (IPCC) released its latest warning about "catastrophic" climate change on Sept. 27, garnering the frantic attention of all three broadcast networks that night. CBS even aired a claim about temperatures rising "more than 200 degrees."...
CBS even aired a claim about temperatures rising "more than 200 degrees."...
The more they make hysterical claims the better imo.
What's the temperature, Kenneth?
Nice, PD.
What is worse is that the actual report was not released until Monday. Friday release was just a summary. That way they could get the big media response before anyone could read the actual report.
Wife sent me this the other day. It's a 4 part series, made in 2007. You can link to the next three parts on youtube if you find it interesting.
This is the most rational discussion of Global Warming I've seen to date.
There was a catastrophic climate change on September 27? Must've passed over Florida, because I didn't notice it.
Obama: Imagine if workers could shut down a manufacturing plant just because they didn't get what they want
Imagine a movement so selfish that it would sabotage the operations of a venture on which vast numbers of people depend simply to gain leverage for its own agenda. Then imagine that that movement grew in numbers to the point where it could elect its own bought-and-paid-for politicians to do its bidding. Who knows how much havoc it could wreak? When you think about it, Democrats are right: It really is a sort of terrorism....
When did Obama turn against the unions?
When he refused to give unions a waiver for Obamacare.
"A worker," not "workers". The individual is always to be viewed with suspicion, the collective is always assumed to be infallible.
The sum total of all Republicans is one?
It hasn't been in every report, but many have been consistent about only mentioning Ted Cruz as the obstacle to this shut down.
It seems like one Senator couldn't have much effect. Surely the Founders considered intransigent asshole syndrome after dealing with British governors.
See, this is because you don't understand chaos theory. The Senator Effect is the idea, used in political chaos theory, that a very small difference in the initial statement of a senator can make a significant difference to the state at some later time.
"The sum total of all Republicans is one?"

OC High School Student Ordered To Remove NRA T-Shirt Because It Promotes Gun Violence
Sophomore Haley Bullwinkle said when she wore her NRA shirt to Canyon High School last month, she landed in the principal's office for violating the school's dress code that forbids offensive, violent or divisive clothing....
The principal's hands were tied! The school police wouldn't allow it! You never know when images will suddenly come to life and start shooting people!
Offensive or divisive?
So I assume that all Obama 2012 shirts ended up in principal visits. Any sort of gay pride shirt too.
Um...I'd bet not, AD.
It would be too cool if Haley's has a brother named Rocky.
Can anyone point me to a single instance the NRA has EVER promoted gun violence?
What mendacious pieces of shit!
Owning a gun is a violent act, in that it scares gun grabbers and makes them 'feel' threatened.
Gun grabbing is a violent act.
And now here's something you'll really enjoy!
Wait, her last name is Bullwinkle? Excellent.
'Enforce it vigorously': New Obamacare lawsuit aims to bring down law by canceling a one-year extension of the employer mandate, forcing letter-of-the-law obedience
A Florida orthodontist sued the Obama administration on Tuesday, insisting that the White House must abandon changes it has made on its own to the Affordable Care Act, instead obeying the letter of the law as Congress passed it.
The administration has made several tweaks to the Obamacare law, including a one-year delay of a measure that requires companies with 50 or more employees to offer them health insurance or pay financial penalties.
The law specifies an exact date when that feature is to go into effect ? January 1, 2014 ? but the White House announced in July that it would push that date back, angering some in Congress who saw the move as a unilateral power grab....
Can we make this a class action?
While I agree with the goal of the lawsuit, I'm not sure this is going anywhere, because I don't see how the plaintiff is going to be able to argue standing.
Use the administration's own words - this bill is to help us all by giving us more medical care than ever before, all while lowering costs and fixing the economy.
I mean by listening to the administration sell this pre-bill-sign and argue all the dangers/deaths that will be caused by lack of funding - don't we all have standing?
Nope. SCOTUS has ruled that peasants don't get taxpayer standing, and you have to be actually hurt by the law in some redressable way. "Hurt" and "redressable" to be defined later once they have an opportunity to size up how politically viable your case it.
I made the terrible mistake of peeking into this morning's Thomas Friedman thread. Did anyone point out to Bo that his democratic enthusiast would a) need to account for the ~40% of people who didn't vote, b) not be in favor of representatives over direct democracy of the sort that would quash ObamaCare, and that c) Tony and Tom Friedman of "Chinese authoritarianism is teh awesome" fame sure as hell don't count as "democratic enthusiasts"?
Why bother? Bo manages to ignore any point that might lessen his pearl clutching.
You mean MNG right?...Cause I called that first and I am sticking by it.
Oh, I bet you're right.
I don't buy it. Bo stays away from the foozball related discussions that MNG couldn't resist. I'm going with him being a new pedantrist.
Hmm, Baltimore Ravens suck ass hard this year, anyway.
2-2 = suck ass hard?
Depends who they played (I have no idea). If they beat Jax and Pitt and lost to St Louis and Washington, then yeah, they may suck ass hard at 2-2.
They lost to Denver when Manning threw the 7 TDs and to Buffalo the other day. They beat Houston and right this very moment I forget the other team they beat,
Don't really care, just ringing the bell to see who responds. So which of you two is the real MNG?
Are you suggesting that I might be the real MNG?
It's at least worth testing that theory.
Given Flaco's gimp arm, I doubt if they'll win more than three maybe four more games this season.
You've been here for what, at least a couple of years?
I'm no Epi, John, Pro Lib or robc, but I have been around about 6 years and there just couldn't be anybody here who would confuse MNG and me.
Anyways, you are probably right - Flaco will not have the season he had last year. Even if he never approaches what he did in the playoffs last season, the vast majority of fans out there will consider his post-season performance the best 4 games ever by a QB.
Of course, if you read Auric D and I go at it earlier this week, you know that not everybody would consider Flaco's 4 post-season games last year as the best 4 games by a QB ever.
L_M isn't really the MNG dissembling type. His opinions are sufficiently outside the mainstream that if he really wanted to start a fight on Reason, he could do so by forthrightly arguing his actual opinion, heh.
I just threw the MNG bait out there to see what I could reel in. Don't blame me for the results.
Baltimore's defense has always been over rated.
They just got lucky last year, but the 2000-2001 Ravens had the best damn defense evar.
That was an enjoyable spar to witness. Nah, I couldn't see you pulling an MNG. It is amazing he didn't appear for it though.
In the Before Time, when we commented by telegram. No threaded comments, much shorter posts:
JOE. STOP. YOU. FUCK.
THOREAU, PRESIDENT CLINTON. STOP. ON A SPICE TRIP? STOP.
Any massive Bo-John entanglement threads?
you mean butt-sexz right?
The recent Bo v Tulpa thread was epic.
It was a Star Trek mirror universe episode live.
Bo = Blue Tulpa
Same MO, different politics.
Bo almost always addresses and responds to your points; Tulpa, not as much.
They both just want to fight. They don't care about what. Take an absurd stance on the most mundane point and start a full blown argument about ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. One takes a Team Red slant, the other Team Blue.
Same, same.
If you don't want to fight, why be libertarian?
To do blow off an escort's ass?
I made the terrible mistake of peeking into this morning's Thomas Friedman thread.
Were there any fucked-up metaphors?
Yes, and I think the consensus was that Bo was merely acting as a counsel would for Mr. Friedman and vigorously arguing his client's case. But Tony pissed everyone off and it got grumbly.
Unless Bo can prove he is being paid by Friedman, he should just state his own fucking position.
Exactly. What kind of cumstain would actually counsel Friedman?
Dr Kivorkian?
I think some folks hear need to lay off Bo. His tendency to adopt a devil's advocate stance can greatly improve a discussion by encouraging people to keep on their toes and avoid empty or fallacious arguments.
That whole spat in the Friedman thread got started because he pointed out that the GOP winning more seats than the Dems in 2010 could not in and of itself serve as a rejoinder to Friedman's premise that (paraphrasing) democratic principles would be best upheld by the GOP moving out of the way and allowing Democrats to exercise their will in Congress.
And of course, people misinterpreted that as Bo actually agreeing with Friedman's position, which was transparently not the case.
Regardless of whether you like Bo or agree with the positions he takes, you must admit that he's always polite, knows his stuff, and isn't arguing in transparent bad faith to get a rise out of people the way Tony/PB do.
Repeated devil's advocacy is stupid.
As a rare thing it is fine.
State your own fucking position. Let the devil (or Tony) be his own advocate.
^This.
Besides, it's not even devil's advocacy than he's doing, he's actually trying to defend a completely illogical position.
It is just as valid to say that the composition of the House of Representatives is democratically determined as it is to say the same of the Presidency: both more or less rise or fall by the same standard, in that neither one can be directly compared to a direct democracy, both are determined by self-selected groups of voters, and both have different tasks in the context of a republic (and neither branch of government is arrogated absolute authority).
From what little I could see when I looked at the thread, Bo was arguing for a premise that had not been established (that of the hypothetical "democratic enthusiast"), since one body of government was being arbitrarily rejected by Friedman as "un-democratic" despite democratic composition -- and another (the Presidency) accepted as an absolute representative of vox populi despite there being no grounds to uphold it as such.
Excellent point in your second paragraph.
Bo was arguing for a premise that had not been established
That's why I nearly choked laughing at the assertion that Bo responds to someone's points. No, Bo comes "close" to responding to points but still somehow avoids them. I give Bo credit for being better at passive-aggressiveness than many of the earlier trolls over the years (joe, tulpa, mng, ec.)
That was me who posted that about Bo - it takes a lot to match, never mind beat Tulpa. Hey, he used to do it with me quite frequently.
Yes, I peeked at the Friedman thread as well. I did not see that which The Immaculate Trouser wrote in his second paragraph - a damn good point and somebody should point that out to Bo.
Yeah. I haven't seen this Thomas Friedman thread, but I don't get the hate for someone who is obviously interested in good discussion. Smack 'em down when he's wrong, but geez, do we really want to run away people who start arguments?
We can all get tedious sometimes. It's about payoff. PB fits more tedium into a day of posts than BCE has in his entire time posting here. Cut the dude some slack.
Nah. Sorry, but as I said previously Bo doesn't so much *argue* as he does dance around points in perpetuity until either he or the person he's arguing with gets exasperated enough with it to compel Bo to put up an actual argument. (He's also condescending and arrogant as get all, though I'll forgive him that since it seems to be an occupational hazard for almost all lawyers.)
I like arguing with people. I'd say that I often find myself disagreeing with people on Reason. My problem with Bo is that he argues far less than he casts aspersions and asks leading questions to start an ultimately fruitless discussion. In that, he is worse than Tulpa.
That said, I do think he's libertarian; just a dissembling one. He shouldn't be treated badly, just ignored.
That's fair. I have a hard time consigning Bo and even Tulpa to the same bin of irrelevance as Butthurt and Sevo because they occasionally say interesting things that I normally wouldn't think of, but the signal-to-noise cutoff has to happen somewhere.
I'm in the market for a Rossi/Puma lever for home defense (ha, ha CA, no detachable mag) - does the brain trust recommend the .357 or the .44mag version to go along w/ the 7 shot .357 in the nightstand?
I think you just answered your own question. Doesn't it make sense to keep the ammo the same instead of fumbling with two different calibers?
I might want something heavier hitting than the .357. You never know when a wild boar will break into your house.
Unless you just want a pistol-caliber lever action, why not go old school like 30-30, or 45-70 in case the boar is running from a bison?
Or you could go military bolt-action, get a nice SMLE, Mauser, or semi-auto Garand?
A Garand? In California? Are you kidding?
BTW, in Connecticut, the new ban is sufficiently poorly written that pretty much any semi-auto which is exclusively belt-fed is not an "assault weapon". Time for home defense with a 200-round belt.
They don't allow Garands in CA? It holds 8 rounds of 30-06, how would it not be legal? Because you can put a bayonet on it?
Striking a balance between hitting power and capacity; .357s and .44s seem to hold the same number of rounds for a given barrel length.
I think the current thinking among those who discuss this a lot more than I is that shot placement trumps caliber. Also, 357 should recoil less than 44 allowing you to get back on target quicker.
Or you could go 44 and get a 44 mag revolver.
No 44mag revolver, unless I loaded the sucker w/ 44 special or something.
I'd go 45 Colt - no reason to downgrade the long arm just to match the handgun. Also better performance in a handgun than a 357 but still controllable.
I just picked up an M1 Garand. The. Shit.
Goes real nice with the old Marlin 336 in 30-30 🙂
I love my Remington 700 BDL in .30-06.
Sorry, just felt like chiming in...
Agree w/PD. Getting a .357 lever gun to go with my S&W686; - just cause ammo.
+1
I'm a huge fan of ammunition redundancy so I'd say the .357 for sure. It's nice to have a rifle/pistol combo that can share the same cartridge.
That's ridiculous. All you have to do is learn to eat human feces, and that solves all the problems with your so-called "plan".
The local radio station just reported regarding today's Capitol Hill shooting incident, "Multiple people were injured, including a Capitol Hill Police officer".
Because fuck the non-cops who got injured.
Sorry, but reporting that some victims are more important than others is something that drives me up a wall.
Which came first, LEOs stressing the importance of officer safety above all else or the media implying it?
Yes.
Just some more of that Progressive Love and Respect we've all come to Love and Respect:
The English major evidently does not know what "literally" means. Or what "threaten" means. Or what "terrorism" means...
Ted Cruz is literally threatening terrorism,
Says the liberal scum who always sided w/ the Soviets during the Cold War....
I think TNR literally threatened terrorism yesterday.
Actually, a second definition of literally has been added to the dictionary.
It nows means figuratively too.
From the comments:

KY is the only southern state to sign up for the exchanges and it had tremendous results the first day, even with the glitches. They signed up 2,000 people, but 90,000 folks in KY went to web site to explore the exchanges. KY also has a Democrat as governor, Governor Beshaer.
An entire comment non-sequitur. Astounding.
Republicans are trying to convince everyone that they hate this shutdown and wish it weren't happening, which of course flies directly in the face of their repeated gleeful celebrations of the shutdown that indicate that they fucking love this because anything that pisses off the liberals and hurts poor people is a win in their book.
Seriously, just insert one or two punctuation marks in there. Identify a clause (look it up if you must) and see how it reads if you put a period at the end of that clause.
Amanda Marcotte is literally a lying sack of shit.
Or what "monority" means being as TEAM RED has a majority in the house.
Minority even!
Moronity?
The U.S. Capitol was put on lockdown this afternoon after a shooting which reportedly began after a woman tried to ram through a barricade at the White House with her car
It's looking like an episode of David Chapell's 'Keeping Shit Real.' Begins with, 'I'm gonna go give that Obama a piece of mind!' and ended with, 'Oh shit! I done fucked up.', just before her brains were splattered.
"When 'keeping it real' goes wrong" was terrific. He ought to have done a bunch more as PSAs.
In an alternative universe, the show is in its 10th season 🙁 Take me to there.
The Deep Thoughts of Amanda Marcotte...
Mood swing, I think.
And why are they no longer attracted to them? Cant' be cause they got fat, cause that'd be fat discrimination. I've been told how horrible men are for not dating fat women by this stupid bitch half a dozen times.
what I might find a major turn-off, looks-wise, might turn the next person on and so on and so forth
The Beauty Ratio
How elusive is the concept of beauty? Apparently, not very. With a few microtweaks of geometric proportions, a woman's face can turn from plain to pulchritudinous. The Marquardt Beauty Mask uses the pentagon and decagon as a foundation that, when a face is aligned to the mask, objectively proves that beauty is NOT in the eye of the beholder (beyond the trivial biological fact that a visual processing center in the brain must apprehend beauty), but rather is a definable and universal constant of formulaic precision that can be replicated and duplicated to achieve the identical hornytoad response in men the world over....
Wow, Mandy wrote something I entirely agree with. I eagerly await her next article: "Porky Chicks Should Get Used To Being Part Of The 3AM Strategic Fattie Reserve"
It's a pressure that already falls harder on women than men.
Now, Amanda, the only reason those guys ever asked you out (notice always just at closing time, right?) is so their friends would not think they were gay by going home alone when there still was a vagina, albeit attached to a third rate body, and fug and at this point in the night, teary eyed, face, waiting there at the bar for some guy to come along and snatch them up.
You wear your bitterness like a stink blossom corsage.
snatch them up.*
*Not really so much a grammar error, though aping Marcotte there, as it is an assumption that she is schizophrenic.
Ha ha, you said "snatch".
heh, you caught that.
Gets this:
Why is that women who complain about men using women for sex always treat men not getting sex as the ultimate insult?
Well considered she can't count to 2 I'm not surprised.
Gender roles only matter when it's Republicans reinforcing them, or whoever else feminists don't like.
Wouldn't "You were so desperate that you banged Amanda Marcotte" be the ultimate insult? I mean, it's on par with taking Roseanne Barr home.
Roseanne at least makes me laugh. And her crazy is interesting to watch. I'm willing to forgive any guy who goes that route, and ostracize any who would bang Marcotte from impolitic society as a traitor to the species.
Plus Roseanne is rich. Just sayin.
Two words: hate fuck.
Alternatively: completely wasted.
Either works for her.
So, I started an okcupid account last week and immediately bailed while filling out my profile (find a picture of myself? describe my interest? ugh). I assumed it was standard procedure to see a person's profile and, by extension, pictures of that person before agreeing to meet. Is that not how it goes? Or is it understood that pictures are not representative?
I go for the most representative picture of myself I can get. People I know who choose the most flattering pictures tend to be (or believe they are) more attractive in person because they've got enough charisma to draw people in. I have one friend who uses awful photos of himself knowing that guys will be pleasantly surprised if they meet him (which is frankly uncommon).
That's actually not a bad idea - there's studies on how people rate certain things, especially when ordered, such as ranking olympic figure skaters and it basically showed that most people don't have an objective standard for which they compare things. They instead compare things in groups.
So for figure skating, they rate the first skater as X and all other skaters will be based upon X - good or worse. What happens as time goes on, is that differences between other skaters and X are magnified. So small differences in the negative way make the skater look much worse, but conversely small differences in the positive direction make successive skaters look much better.
Interesting...
for good or bad.. preview... etc/etc/etc
It's only bad when you do it:

'But, at least its better than what we use to have. Every fucking time the problems with it were pointed out.
Expanding medicaid, one of the crappiest creations in the entire history of DC is at the heart of ACA, and they think they are selling rainbow dancing unicorns.
What was the justification again? 30 million "uninsured?" Of course, that ignored the fact that such people had emergency room coverage, were usually young and voluntarily opted out, etc., but even assuming it were perfectly true, for less than ten percent of the population, we're going to double or worse the premiums of most of the rest, reduce the employment of a large number of people to part time, and, by the way, reduce the actual coverage of most people.
All good?
But, at least its better than what we use to have.
Really, if you wrote exactly what you wrote there in a post, that would have been the response. One of the single player advocates was doing a pretty decent job of throwing out there the problems of ACA, and he would get 'But, at least its better than what we use to have.', every time.
Wouldn't a retired lady in Utah be on Medicare anyway? I understand the point he's trying to make, but use a different hypothetical.
I tested ObamaCare enrollment. I was successful with no glitches. I entered bogus information - home address, birthdate, and Social Security number. If it uses SSN for anything, I foresee problems - from identity theft to someone innocently mistyping their SSN and possibly excluding the real SSN-holder from access.
Anyone that purposely or mistakenly enters incorrect information is a Republican.
Whenever Sadbeard tells us to "think about it", you know you're in for a doozy...
This explains why businessmen never pressure the Republican party on any policy whatsoever besides taxes. Well done, Matty.
Also seems to ignore that a lot of businessmen are in bed with the democrats who tend to be more willing to throw handouts their way.
Think about it this way: The main thing business groups want all the time is lower personal income taxes on business executives.
Umm... that's what everyone wants and that's what the government should want as we know the firm economic law - as proven by the government and their attacks on smoking - raising taxes on X, means less of X is produced.
So the government, business people, and Matty, should all hold that the best possible tax is 0% - and only increase it from 0% for real essential services (by "real" I mean to exclude current essential government services such as those provided by The Barricade Brigade?).
Pentagon Leaders Met with Collaborator of Preacher who Proposed 'Military Takeover'
of the Government
On the September 30 episode of his Prophetic Perspectives on Current Events TV show, Joyner said:
"We're headed for serious tyranny. I think we've been used in some wonderful and powerful ways by God. We've been one of the most generous nations in history. We've done so much good. And that's why I appeal to the Lord: Don't let us be totally destroyed. Please, raise up those who will save us. And as I start telling friends from a long time that no election's going to get the right person in there that can restore us because the system is so broken, so undermined right now -- the whole system. I believe our only hope is a military takeover -- martial law. And that the most crucial element of that is who to the martial [marshal?] is going to be. I believe there are noble leaders in our military that love the republic and love everything we stand for. And they could seize the government."...
Health Insurance taken care of for the next year:
Instead of 80% increase, I can get an additional year of my current plan for only an 8.5% increase. But, I have to renew it as of Dec 1 instead of Jan 1, which means it only lasts thru next November.
But still, its a reasonable increase, if you figure that
1. There is inflation and
2. Im a year older.
I have to renew early because they are no longer offering my non-ACA compliant plan as of Jan 1.
And the "nearest" one is the 80% increase one.
You must not have liked your health care plan.
???
Im assuming that was sarcasm (my meter is going off), but I miss the joke.
Nevermind, I figured it out.

Why Kentucky's Health Exchange Worked Better Than Many Others
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/.....ny-others/
Eager to sign up for coverage, Kendell Nash said she logged on to Kynect at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. She and her 9-year-old son have insurance through her husband's job as a food-service worker, but his contribution is so steep?more than $18,000 a year?that it swallows almost his entire paycheck.
After Ms. Nash, a 38-year-old director of a nonprofit organization in Louisville, filled out an application online, the website returned numerous options. They included gold-level and platinum-level plans that would run $575 to $775 a month for all three of them. That would mean savings of roughly $5,000 to $6,000 per year, accounting for coinsurance and other payments, she said.<?I
So your point is her insurance is paid by others?
Oh, goodie. Why don't we buy her food, also?
The WSJ says she is not entitled to a subsidy.
Yes, you idiot, who do you think is covering the difference between the market cost of her insurance and her 'free-shit' cost?
Unicorns?
Yeah, it's people like robc above who's rate is jumping by a lot.
Well, if his rates are jumping, then obviously he must be a Republican.
Technically, but Im one of the bad republicans that only votes for Pauls.
See! If you were a Democrat, you'd be talking about how wonderful it is that other people now get to have inexpensive insurance for 80% more annually--just like you do.
Why does robc hate America?
"They included gold-level and platinum-level plans that would run $575 to $775 a month for all three of them."
Were these options available before? Is this supposed to mean these options didn't exist before there was a new website?
There's actually an age old way to find out about different health insurance plans. It's called an "insurance broker".
And there is even this online "exchange" that actualy works - It's called ehealthinsurance.com

Put a ring? in it?: Intravaginal ring *could* block HIV transmission to women.
Help could be on its way, however, in the form of an anti-HIV intravaginal ring that is worn continuously for up to 30 days.
The device, which is known as the TDF-IVR (tenofovir disoproxil fumarate intravaginal ring), was developed at Illinois' Northwestern University by Prof. Patrick Kiser. It's essentially a looped polymer tube, that's filled with the powdered form of an anti-retroviral drug known as tenofovir ? which ordinarily is taken orally.
When subjected to moisture, as would occur during intercourse, the polymer swells and releases some of the tenofovir. According to the university, this feature allows it to deliver "up to 1,000 times more of the drug than current intravaginal ring technology, which have release rates that decline over time."
In recent tests on non-human primates, the TDF-IVR was shown to have a 100 percent success rate at blocking the simian human immunodeficiency virus. Human trials are scheduled to start next month, and will entail having 30 women using the ring over the course of 14 days.

Are these 30 women who are regularly having sex with HIV positive men?
Safety trials come before efficacy.
No, they're fucking primates
At Illinois' Northwestern University? As a proud NU alum I've never heard the alma mater described that way before. I wonder if their style book would also say "at Connecticut's Yale University" or "at Rhode Island's Brown University."
