Snowden Shortlisted For European Human Rights Prize
Nelson Mandela among the previous winners
The shortlist for Europe's prestigious Andrei Sakharov Human Rights prize has been published, and it includes American whistle-blower Edward Snowden. Awarded by the European Parliament every year since 1988, past winners include Nelson Mandela. Competing with Snowden will be Pakistani schoolgirl, Malala Yousafzai and three political prisoners in Belarus.
