WASHINGTON, Sept. 30 (UPI) — The Senate convenes Monday afternoon, about 10 hours before a midnight deadline to keep the government running, as the nation braced for a partial shutdown.

When the upper chamber meets it is widely expected to reject a House bill, approved early Sunday, that would delay President Obama's healthcare law as a condition for keeping the government running from Oct. 1 through Dec. 15.
