Joe Biden Doesn't Want a Bunch of Rand Pauls and Ted Cruzes Elected to Congress in 2014
Better than an endorsement?

You're probably doing something right if Joe Biden uses the threat of more of you in Washington as a fundraising tool. The latest fundraising e-mail comes from Joe Biden, via the Democratic National Committee:
Edward --
I've been in politics for a while now, but I've never seen anything quite like this.
A group of freshmen senators are running the show in the Republican Party -- that is not hyperbole.
You should see what these guys are doing now. They're asking their Republican colleagues to sign a pledge to shut down the federal government unless we defund Obamacare.
Now these aren't bad guys, but I want you to think about this: not only are they still trying to get rid of health care reform -- they're willing to use the entire federal government as a bargaining chip to get it done.
That's what we're dealing with in Washington right now, and it's unprecedented in my lifetime.Make no mistake -- one thing we don't need is to let the Republicans outrun us in 2014, and elect a bunch more people to the House and Senate who think, act, and vote the way Ted Cruz and Rand Paul do.
Chip in $3 or more right now and help build the organization that's going to stop these guys:

Thanks,
Joe
Members of Congress on both sides, meanwhile, were worried staffers would jump ship if Obamacare were imposed on them without a "fix" to save them money.
Joe should read Reason on Obamacare implementation so far and Reason on Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.

No NIHILISMZ?
I am disappoint.
I'm not sure Joe is the guy they want throwing that stone from inside his glass house.
Hell, I bet he'd even fuck that up.
Joe: (toss, ricochet ) "OUCH!"
Weird, it's even written in that retarded, folksy way that biden speaks.
I know. All it needs is a spelling error or something vaguely racist and it would be the genuine article.
Well, wait, do we think Joe knows the word 'hyperbole'? I bet he pronounces it "hyper-bowl"
Clearly it was written by a staffer who knows him very well and is trying to put him in a good light.
Is it printed in comic sans?
If we get more people in Congress who think, act, and vote the way Ted Cruz and Rand Paul do, well, that might make it infinitesimally harder to completely subjugate you, take all your wealth, and do with it what he want.
Love,
Uncle Joe
Whatever Joe Biden doesn't want, I want.
Hi, I'm Joe Biden and I want you to know that I just LOVE that libertariansim. YAY FREEDOM!
Muahaha.
Well, that's exactly what we do want, clown boy!
First they ignore you - Past
Then they mock you - Past and Present
Then they attack you - Present
Then you win - ???
We're definitely in the phase that they are attacking us now. before it was only ignore or mock. So yeah, we're doing something right.
Then you win - ???
How come we never get to that part?
Patience, weed hopper, we just got to the being attacked part...
a Bunch of Rand Pauls and Ted Cruzs Elected to Congress in 2014
Pardon the drool, folks, I'll wipe it up presently.
Yeah, could you imagine 10 more senators and 50 congressmen like them?
Nothing, beautiful nary a nothing, would be all that was done.
And it would be a beautiful sight.
Also, I am not sure if the lumping of Ted Cruz with the Libertarians is some type of thought out tactic, or if it's just out of ignorance.
But, it continues to annoy me. There are clearly only 3 Libertarians currently in Congress, and Cruz is not one of them.
Eh. Let us walk a mile down the road to libertarianism with Ted Cruz before he gets to his smaller-but-still-statist exit.
Yeah. He's only better than 531 or so members of Congress, so let's cast him out.
I didn't say let's throw him out of the GOP, or congress, or even that he wasn't better than a lot of others.
I said he's not a Libertarian. Has he ever even claimed to be?
Apparently Paul doesn't claim it, either. Does it annoy you when he is called one?
Yes, he does. He constantly claims to be a Libertarian Republican.
Also, Pauls voting record speaks for itself. What about Cruz? What has he done?
He claims to be a libertarian Republican.
Cruz supported Paul (quite elegantly and substantially!) during Paul's drone filibuster.
This he did do. But I'm not convinced at all that it wasn't just political theatre. Cruz definitely sees his job as stirring up shit in congress to piss off the Dems. But whether it's more than that, or not, is yet to be seen, imho.
I've never said anything bad about Cruz, but I don't believe that he's libertarian, big or small L.
Pauls voting record speaks for itself.
Cruz is against the TSA, against drone strikes in the US, against NSA spying on the US, endorsed by Ron Paul and he goes around giving speeches to Liberty college kids with Rand and Mike Lee so he seems to be pretty clearly aligned with that faction.
Dude's actually kind of libertarian.
You're only a Libertarian if you are a member of the Libertarian Party.
but you can be libertarian and not be a member of the Libertarian party.
Hyperion used the cap L.
yup
Well, I probably qualify as big L, although I definitely started out small l.
But I don't even see why Cruz is being assigned a small l?
I'm not a purist that thinks we should boot everyone out of congress because they are not a self described Libertarian, big or small l. I don't want to get rid of any allies that we might have. And this is the very reason why I was here defending Jim DeMint against a hostile H&R crowd when he as interviewed by Welch and Gillespie, because they guy was at least acknowledging that Libertarians have a legitimate place in the GOP, and he was even voting in ways that proved he believed it.
But again, WTF has Cruz done that we think he's on our side? I don't think enough, at this point.
And yet, no one has answered my question as to why we would consider Cruz to be Libertarian? I don't get it.
I'm skeptical as hell. A lot of people were claiming that Rubio was a Libertarian leaning guy when he was first elected. How did that turn out? What about Paul Ryan? I heard similar claims about him.
I am beyond worrying about libertarian or not. I just would like to see anyone in office that doesn't scare the shit out of me.
I'm with Hyperion on this. These jokers gotta do somethingto earn libertarian bona fides. I think Amash and Paul have.
Massie as well. And he was doing it long before he was elected to congress.
Let's see Cruz propose some liberty defending legislation like Paul, Massie, and Amash have all done.
Let's look at his voting record. How has he been voting? I don't even know.
It's not enough to talk some small government rhetoric. We've seen enough of that already. Do something to fucking prove it, or STFU, congress critters.
He sponsored an amendment to defund Obamacare and reamed Feinstein over gun rights.
He's a relatively legit small government Republican, but he fails on a least a few social issues. He's more accurately described as a constitutionalist than a libertarian, but no Republicans are Libertarians, pretty much by definition.
The defund Obamacare thing was pure political theatre.
but no Republicans are Libertarians
Paul, Massie, and Amash are definitely libertarians. No, not party members, but that doesn't matter, not to me anyway.
Why the fuck do you ask for examples of Cruz doing good and why do people provide them when you are just going to dismiss it as 'pure political theatre'? This is probably the same 'don't want to admit I'm wrong' defense reflex that kicks in when you're whining about 'Tulpification' or whatever.
Buzz off, CytoTulpaTard. Your personal vendetta with me has nothing to do with this conversation. I will ask whatever questions I want to about Cruz, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.
Your personal vendetta with me
Projection time!
Seriously, get some sleep. You've been crankier and stupider than usual lately, and that's probably from staying up past your bedtime too long.
I will ask whatever questions I want to about Cruz, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.
http://knowyourmeme.com/photos.....n-reaction
Fuck you asshole, stop trolling me! Get a life.
But Paul's filibuster led to changes in the law, right?
If we're back to lowercase L libertarianism, Cruz has a large number of libertarian positions, whether he describes himself as a libertarian or not. He's not "completely" libertarian because of a lot of his social views.
Cruz's actually voting record seems to be a clone of Mike Lee's and Rand Paul's. The 3 of them are most aligned with each other than with anybody else and they often work as a block. All 3 belong to Rand's 'Senate Tea Party Caucus'.
Based on some googling, I find the claim that "Cruz and Paul voted together on 103 of the 109 roll call votes they cast together."
Then how can you be claiming he isn't libertarian enough?
Hyperion loves making claims based on his own ignorance. It's become his main move alongside his faux-clairvoyance. Call him out on it and gets real defensive.
Call him out on it and gets real defensive
No, actually I do not get real defensive with people who don't agree with me. I get along perfectly fine with most everyone here, whether or not they agree with me, as can be said by this thread where pretty much no one is agreeing with me about Cruz, but no one else is going all hostile like you are.
I get shitty back at you, because that's the way you always start your personal attacks on me.
I'll just go back to ignoring you, like I do with Tulpa, Tony, Shreek, and other trolls.
Then how can you be claiming he isn't libertarian enough?
I'm just not sold on him, Irish, I hope that you and others are right about him, but it's just a feeling that I get about the guy, that something is not quite right.
it's just a feeling that I get about the guy
Then keep your feelings to yourself until you get some facts to go with them. Otherwise you're just as bad as the leftards that want to rule the whole fucking world based on what they feel.
Rubio, Paul Ryan, Chrispy Creme... the people calling these dudes Libertarian (uhhh... Nick Gillespie?) are mostly the same ones saying Cruz isn't.
It seems to me to be a culture war thing, because Cruz is an icky hick. I could say "because he doesn't support gay marriage or abortion on demand" except neither do Ron or Rand Paul, or Ryan or Crispy, they give all kinds of passes to other people on that.
You won't find establishmentarians like Paul Ryan saying shit like this:
http://freedomoutpost.com/2013.....democrats/
And Paul Ryan's not?
No, every asshole who runs for office takes pictures of himself pretending to hunt.
Hunting alone I would guess is not good enough to get you labelled in the culture wars. John F'n Kerry wasn't what I'd call a 'hick'.
If it's something else, some other idea why libertarians should like Chrispy better than Cruz, I'd love to know what.
Paul Ryan lives in Janesville, Wisconsin. This isn't some guy from New York City going up state to get some pictures while hunting.
A guy from Rock County, Wisconsin who likes hunting is not exactly surprising. He's also a big fan of fishing, apparently.
Which always struck me as particularly retarded given the guy's resume. Yale undergrad. Harvard Law. Clerked for Luttig and Rehnquist. Ran Morgan Lewis & Bockius' Supreme Court practice. Yeah real hick there.
True, he has an establishment neocon background, what with the harvard law degree and all.
But something must explain it. People don't just think Chris Christie is more libertarian than someone who votes with Rand Paul 103 out of 109 times for no reason.

Well, I't take Cruz in a heart beat over Bruce Braley or David Nutsack.
Actually, Tom Harkin (since Cruz is a senator, not a representative)
Like John said, the logic cuts both ways. If Cruz and Paul are using the federal government as a chip to defund Obamacare, then Obama is using it just as equally as a chip to FUND Obamacare.
Why is it only ever stated one way?
+1
WACKO BIRDZ!!!!!
Proud to be one!
Morning Joe was saying how terrible it is that the Republicans would consider shutting down the government. But, didn't he do that back when he was in congress?
This may be the most honest thing Joe Biden has ever written. I'll bet he plagarized it.
"...one thing we don't need is to let the Republicans outrun us in 2014, and elect a bunch more people to the House and Senate who think, act, and vote the way Ted Cruz and Rand Paul do."
So, they are fully cognizant of the fact that many, possibly a majority, of Americans dont like their policies.
The Democrats are running out of issues.
What are they supposed to run on? The individual mandate? Keeping the government out of your bedroom? Hell, the Democrats, by way of the NSA, are in a lot deeper than your bedroom.
What do they got to run on? Abortion, race-baiting, and...
"I want you to think about this: not only are they still trying to get rid of health care reform -- they're willing to use the entire federal government as a bargaining chip to get it done."
Can you imagine if the Republicans in Congress really were a threat to turn off the federal money taps? If only the Republicans were half the boogeyman the Democrats make them out to be!
They still have racism. And sexism, and all of the other isms. They'll never run out of them. A likely accidentally prophetic issue was brought up this morning, talking about Otherkins.
Seriously, if the Democrats ever run out of a way to divide and exploit race, gender, or sexual preference to keep themselves in power, then there will be people who claim that they are actually squirrels or faeries, or whatever the fuck, and claim that they are being oppressed by white republican males because of it.
Think of how awesome it will be if they start going on about Otherkin.
Get Biden out at a campaign event, saying "They're saying you're not Pokemon! They're gonna put you back in the Pokeball! Are you gonna take that?!? No! We're not going to take that. President Obama and the Democratic Party will stand up against these backwards thugs for your Otherkin rights!"
Now that I think more about it, I really want to start campaigning among the progressive side of the Dems to get Otherkin recognized as a major part of the party/oppressed people/etc.
I mean, FFS, Chrome says Otherkin is a misspelling! The patriarchy just won't let up.
I personally edited the Wiki page on Otherkin to intentionally be misspelled because I hate the Otherkins, and want to oppress them. I can't stop thinking about it, it must be the patriarchy genes in me taking over and forcing me to oppress others, against my own will. Must...check...my....privilege....
Common sense gun control.
For the children.
"Common sense" gun control is not a winning strategy, not even in a national election. ...and it certainly isn't about to win the Democrats seats in Congress.
I think they're scrapin' the bottom of the barrel, issues-wise.
"Common sense gun control" is only pointing your gun at something you intend to shoot.
He was being facetious.
Does Joe know how to read?
No, but he plays a retard in real life.
Dear Potential Contributor,
There are a group of freshmen senators who are being meanieheads and not rolling over and "paying their dues". Please help me stamp out the scourge of common sense politics before the voters catch wind and put me out to pasture - this is not hyperbole.
Now these are not bad guys, but I want you to think of me, and only me. Their plans of limiting government conflict with my plans of world domination under the guise of security.
Make no mistake -- people are pissed off about the lack of follow through in this administration. I have to begin to distance myself from it or Hillary will make a mockery of me in the 2016 campaign season.
Give me all your money and all will be well.
XOXO
JoJo
They'll block nominations to make the President say when he'll assassinate American citizens!
I finally (mostly) got my rag to stop using "Libertarian" when we meant "libertarian." Small victories. (Sigh.)
I've decided just this morning to start fucking with my liberal friends by calling myself a republican (but not a Republican).
I'm so going to write a complaint letter urging them to change it back.
Today is the publisher's big 70th birthday party. Maybe he'll announce which Internet billionaire is gonna buy us. (I think Ohio State should just snap us up and be done with it. They could put us on a shelf next to their NPR and PBS properties.)
They could rename it, "The Wexner Center for Public Integrity in Journalism". That'd be good for a larf 😛
"Oh, man! I gotta work the phones at the newpaper pledge drive again!"
"Great public programming like "The Family Circus" costs money to bring into your home each day. Make your pledge now to ensure that Bil and Little Billy -- and even that lovable scamp Not Me -- still have a place at your breakfast table!"
Talk about a losing script. I'd donate $25 just to get rid of Family Circus.
This seemed appropriate.
"Me TEAM GUD. Him TEAM BAD. Vote fur GUD TEAM."
I finally (mostly) got my rag to stop using "Libertarian" when we meant "libertarian."
Your next mission, should you decide to accept it, is to somehow keep spellcheck from changing it to librarian.
But that has all those connotations of hot sexy redhead librarians.
"The Wexner Center for Public Integrity in Journalism"
Truth is subjective.
Betcha didn't know that.
I always hated the "Truth is Subjective" meme.
My response to those who put it forward was to suggest they go to a homeopath/acupuncturist/faith healer for their apendicitis and I'll go to a conventional doctor. We'll see who lives longest.
Yeah, "truth is subjective" lasts about until they break their arm. Next thing you know they're in a hospital begging for morphine and a real doctor.
Course not, Joe...let's just keep the course we've been on with the ONE PARTY system we have with Repubs and Dems while you continue to destroy the middle class together as you've done for the past 60 years.
