Toy Gun Buy Back Held at California Elementary School
Bang bang

Toy guns, and even food in the basic shape of a gun, have thrown school administrators into fits. So the latest move by an elementary school in California shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
A different-kind of gun buyback was held in Hayward on Saturday as some school children were given the chance to trade in their toy guns for a prize.
The buyback, held at Strobridge Elementary School, offered books to kids who turned in their fake weapons. Principal Charles Hill held the buyback as a lesson for children who may see guns as part of everyday life.
"As they get older, it becomes just a natural thing," Hill told KPIX 5. "If they have a real gun in their hand, they'll pull the trigger just as quick. I mean, they don't fear it."
A gun safety class would be far more useful, and less asinine.

The BAN BONER crowd is not interested in safety no matter how much they lie about it. If they were, gun safety classes would be everywhere in schools. They are interested in getting as many people as possible to fear guns to make banning them easier.
Actions speak far louder than words, and vehemently opposing gun safety training for children speaks loudest of all.
It's not as if schools have swimming lessons for children so that they can be safer around pools... oh, wait.
Well, it's not as though students must go through some sort of driver safety course before they can get their license... oh, they do that too, huh?
Next you'll be telling me that they make kids in science class take necessary precautions and wear goggles and gloves when handling dangerous chemicals... WHAT? THEY DO THAT TOO???
Well it's still obvious that no amount of safety precautions or lessons can make guns safer, because.
My college had a swimming proficiency requirement to receive a degree. No, I don't know the history of that. It did give me the idea of forming a list of things I think my children should be able to do by adulthood. For some reason my friends can't get over start a fire three ways. What's so tough about a match, a lighter, and a 9v battery and 000 steel wool? (Or whatever three methods they choose?)
Did you go to Annapolis?
Dartmouth grad?
Fire by friction isn't as hard as it sounds either, though some sort of lighter (kept in a waterproof baggy) is the easiest and simplest method.
A gun safety class would be far more useful, and less asinine.
Less asinine......? It's a California public school...if it's not asinine it doesn't happen.
You just lost half your Twitter followers buddy.
How can anyone look at this shit and not see the whole education system as the indoctrination tool of the socialist state?
They are very obviously (and nationally, all over the country in supposedly local school districts) trying to push a partisan political agenda by brainwashing children.
Democrats are pushing for gun control at a national level and suddenly local schools all over the country are suspending students over gun shaped pop-tarts?
The whole point of this is any mention, any thought of "gun" = bad stimulus. Pavlovian. It doesn't have to make sense, just that whenever someone mentioned the word 'gun' it has to be associated with a bad response.
Maybe I'm as paranoid as the tinfoil hat crowd but this is no coincidence.
The fucking public schools are out to get the 2nd amendment.
Public schools are in large measure run by bullies. Bullies don't want their victims to be able to fight back.
"We don't condone playing hero."
How can anyone look at this shit and not see the whole education system as the indoctrination tool of the socialist state?
What are you, some kind of kooky conspiracy theorist? I bet you read and cite the constitution too, you kooky kook man.
"As they get older, it becomes just a natural thing," Hill told KPIX 5.
That's pretty much the definition of indoctrination - start out training kids to do as they're told without question and as they get older, it becomes just a natural thing.
This whole "gun free upbringing" idea really amuses me.
My mother was so totally anti-gun that I was not even allowed to watch "Mission Impossible" or similar violent TV programs.
The result - I became fascinated with guns, enlisted into the Marines the day after I turned 17, and got a degree in Mechanical Engineering partly to better understand firearms design. I now have a world class personal armory and have been referred to by other gun owners as being a "walking firearms encyclopedia".
Good luck with that "forbidden fruit" plan there California!
Just when I think the gun control crowd cannot get any more asinine, they go and prove me wrong.
That's right. Progressives from San Francisco. The nuttiest people on earth. Unless you consider progressives from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, D.C....
No, they're nuttier in San Francisco.
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh! What a dumbass!
"If they have a real gun in their hand, they'll pull the trigger just as quick. I mean, they don't fear it."
A dumber statement has never been said. Although, "Let's sign Tim Tebow" comes close.
Contrawise--Kids who grow up using real guns know and respect their power.
Even your average pistol-toting gangmember understands the power of a gun. That's why they use them. The only people who don't understand that guns are just tools are pussies like this guy who would rather feel things than think them.
Real football fans know and respect the power of Tim Tebow.
I wonder if a kid will bring in a toy bazooka and blow everyone's mind.
The grief counselors are queued up and ready to respond.
It's common sense: playing with toy guns turns kids into potential mass murderers while undressing Barbie dolls turns boys into male gazing rapists.
Time to buy them all a Happy Fun Ball.
Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.
Wilson!!!
But playing with GI Joe's and army men turns boys into potential bullet catchers brave defenders of freedom. Or even noble and just commanders-in-chief.
Psychiatrists I know say that if your son likes playing with toy guns, then it's statistically a good indicator he will be heterosexual. If he doesn't like playing with toy guns, there's a stronger probability he will be homosexual.
Really? But don't shrinks also say guns are phallic symbols?
No.
"Here's the Mommy gun, and here's the Daddy gun!"
My kid likes to play with real guns. That must mean he's going to be a supersexual.
We laugh at these things, but these things are building tomorrow. They're shaping the future. Imagine classroom after classroom, full of tots, being told that guns are evil, guns are bad, guns are scary and they shouldn't be in the home, let alone on your person.
This constant vilification is breeding a new generation gun controllers. I'd be stunned if the 2nd amendment even exists 40 years from now.
Mom: Ok, Billy, let's take these awful toy guns of yours and turn them in at school today! It's the right thing to do and plus, it's good for the environment!
Billy: Ok. I guess I'm a little sad though. I like playing with my toy guns. But because my teachers and you and dad always say that guns are very, very bad, and that only very bad people would ever want a gun, then I guess I should turn them in.
*while driving to the school*
Mom: So, Billy what do you want to be when you grow up?
Billy: I want to be a police officer or work for the government!
Mom: Why is that?
Billy: Because they get to carry guns!
Mom: That's sounds great Billy!
No one names their kid Billy anymore. It's "Jayden".
*golf clap*
Or Skyler. Lot of Skylers these days.
*end scene*
"If they have a real gun in their hand, they'll pull the trigger just as quick. I mean, they don't fear it."
I'll bet Hill's wife would like a "real gun", if you catch my drift.
"Hey there, Mrs. Hill. Ever seen a Nation Match .308? You want to?"
A different-kind of civil rights buyback was held in Hayward on Saturday as some school children were given the chance to trade in their future freeedom for a prize.
The buyback, held at Strobridge Elementary School, offered student loan forgiveness to kids who waived their 13th amendment rights. Principal Charles Hill held the buyback as a lesson for children who may see individual liberty as part of everyday life.
"As they get older, it becomes just a natural thing," Hill told KPIX 5. "If they have a real liberty in their hand, they'll exercise freedom just as quick. I mean, they don't fear it."
NICE!
Do they trade them in for plastic chains and collars? - just to habituate them ya-know.
Serious question: What happens these days to kids who shoot rubber bands?
Or spitballs?
Police storm in, put them in a choke hold on the ground, arrest them, take them downtown and book them. Then their parents come get them. The DA considers pressing charges -- against the child -- and then refuses charges. The kid goes back to school after a lengthy suspension and agreeing to counseling.
If only stupidity hurt this guy would be suffering from the debilitating pain he deserves.
Who the hell is turning in toy guns? If a child has a toy gun someone bought it and gave it to said child. It doesn't make any sense. Is there a children's black market I don't know about where you can buy full auto nerf guns and water balloons without a parental check?
Yeah, it's called Walmart (last time I checked they didn't have age checks on nerf guns and water balloons).
I was attempting mix sarcasm and a point. I guess I failed, but the point being an elementary child probably got a toy gun with his parent's permission, so why turn it in.
So, do they suspend the kids who bring toy guns to turn in, under zero tolerance?
If not I'd be tempted to send my kid in with his toy 'Uzi, 9mm' (Ahnold voice) and not turn it in, but taunt the other kids with it.
"HA-HA, my machine pistol is a lot funner to play with than your fuckin book! NERD!"
I'll give you my toy gun when you pry it from my cold, dead kung-fu grip.
Take your stinkin' paws off me you damn dirty ape!
A toy gun buyback program, really? It sounds like all the wing-nut states need to secede from the US. If you can't tell the difference from a toy gun and a real gun, then there is something bad wrong with you.
I'd hate to be the kid who accidentally brought his toy gun in on the wrong day.
You can pry my Nerf blaster from my cold dead hands.
