Went down because of optic cable fault, according to state-run media

DAMASCUS, Syria, May 8 (UPI) — An optic cable malfunction in Syria caused a 24-hour outage affecting Internet access, the state-run news service said Wednesday.

Syrian officials say they are working to restore service to the Web after Internet connections went down Tuesday night, CNN reported.
