Saudi Arabia's Justice Ministry on Tuesday strongly denied reports that a court in the oil-rich Gulf Kingdom had sentenced a 24-year-old man to paralysis as retribution for a crime he allegedly committed 10 years ago.

"The ministry would like to announce that this is utterly incorrect, and in fact the judicial ruling was contrary to that. The judge had shied away from demanding this punishment," read a statement posted on the ministry's Twitter account.
