Colorado Court Upholds Local School Voucher System

Institute for Justice helped district secure victory

In a case being watched by school-choice advocates, legal experts and both pro-religion and secularist groups around the country, the Colorado Court of Appeals has ruled that Douglas County School District's voucher system is legal.

The appeals panel's 2-1 ruling reverses Denver District Judge Michael Martinez's decision that brought Douglas County's controversial Choice Scholarship Program to a screeching halt in 2011 just as the first 304 students awarded vouchers were about to enroll in private schools.
