Brickbat: Weekend with Sergei
Russian police arrested attorney Sergei Magnitsky four years ago on tax evasion charges, shortly after he claimed officials had taken millions of dollars in a fraudulent tax case. He died in prison a year later. His friends say he was beaten and denied medical care. Despite his death, prosecutors say they still plan to bring Magnitsky to trial. His friends say the trial is an effort to intimidate his defenders.

Judge: How do you plead?
Defendant: Braaaaaaaaaaaaaains.
I knew you'd say that.
Actually, in Russian, it would be:
"MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZZZGI..."
Nonsense. All zombies, like Jesus, speak nothing but the Queen's English.
Yep, and at Reason any zombie would be a troll exclaiming "ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOADS!"
In former Soviet Russia, death tries YOU! (It worked for Rasputin. Almost.)
In Soviet Russia, week ends you!
I had a job like that.
This is no joke. His inability to testify could be ruled to be contempt of court, leading to more jail time. Under Russian law, dead people have no right against self-incrimination.
Sooooo...that's why Lenin is still under glass and full o' embalming fluid?
I would pay money for a video of a guy dressed as F.A. Hayek teabagging the actual corpse of Lenin.
Teabagging in the Halo sense, of course.
Ebaites', eto pochemu!
HA!
I was more surprised that nobody else had posted this before me.
I have been watching my MAT lately, Zheodor. I let slip a gaffe and Dr. PG was not amused,-| She was nice about it, but clearly not amused.
Poetomu net zhenskikh libertarianov. 🙁
Oj...jasno, zhnaju. Ona mozhna by kogda-nibud'...
I haven't spoken it in 30 years, but shouldn't that be ebates'?
Actually, I just looked up the conjugation of ebat' again, which I thought was ebayu ebayesh etc. In fact it's ebu ebyosh, etc. That would make the imperative ebites'.
"Jobat'" is the infinitive form. (I hate it when "jo" is spelt with "e", I don't like mispronouncing things)
"Jobite!" is the second person plural imperative, but I have seen it spelt Ted's way.
Wiktionary and my print dictionary both claim end stress, not on the first syllable, and not a ? at the beginning.
(I'd link to the Wiktionary page, but it's got Cyrillic charcaters in the URL, which will make the server squirrels go nuts.)
Ah, right you are. "job" is past tense masculine singular. Apologies. "Blin!" is my go-to. "Bljad'!" if I can get away with it,-)))
I know the second two words, so I think I have a good guess what the first is. I don't know how you people work in phonetic Russian.
I don't know how you people work in phonetic Russian.
Badly, that's how. But the fucking server squirrels seem to demand it.
It probably should be "potomu", not "pochemu", too.
"potomu chto" is probably most grammatically correct.
Wouldn't that phonetically be "shto"?
Net, "chto" pravil'no!
I can usually make a pretty good on the Russian if it isn't written in Cyrillic but this has me drawing a total blank.
Afternoon PS!
Afternoon Herr Doktor!
"Fuck you that's why" is that it?
Russia: the biggest cesspool ever created. That whole country should be walled off and quaranteened so it can't contaminate the rest of the world.
Actually I've a Swedish friend who moved there (Kaliningrad) and prefers it.
Takzhe, vashu mat', blajd'!
Debts and criminal culpability handed down from father to son?
The administration must be watching this case with intense interest.
OK wow, so who comes up with all that crazy smack. Wow.
