Brickbat: Drive On
Rashad Lewis was a bit surprised to get a ticket for running a red light. He was in a New York City jail when a camera caught his Mercedes-Benz convertble running the light. It seems that someone who worked for the police department took his car for a spin while he was being detained on charges of possessing forged credit cards.

I havent seen Dunphy around in a while. Is he lurking? Or did he finally give it up after the barrage of bad-cop stories Sloopy has been posting?
He seemed absent for much of the weeks leading into Christmas, but he has been around the last couple days.
Gotta use those 16 weeks of vacation.
Speakingof which - I've got a friend who just started his first year as a teacher (8th gradde social studies). For the winter holidays, this is the third straight week he's had off.
Add that to about 2 weeks of days off since the start of the school year at the end of August.
And he bitches because he makes a tad over 30k.
It's good to keep the seals and gaskets from drying out.
It seems his alibi was lock tight.
while he was being detained on charges of possessing forged credit cards.
You're going to take the word of an admitted criminal?
You're going to take the word of a criminal over that of a law-enforcement employee?
Decisions, decisions. trust the word of an identity thief, or a law enforcement officer. I just can't decide.
You can't keep a hardened criminal down
What, like they don't have mind-controlled cars in Austria?
What's the problem, the guy's in jail for a crime and therefore all of his assets (well, technically just those derived from criminal activities, but let's be real: everything any criminal has is inherently derived from criminal activities) belong to the police department.
Not seeing an issue here.

What's really fun is getting a ticket for a vehicle you don't own from a city you've never been to in a state you've haven't been to in years simply because the plate number is the same.
Hoooray Dallas, yeah my 1974 Harley can totally be mistaken for a late-model Honda Accord. The clerk did drop the summons when I called to complain, it seemed like she got a lot of similar calls from her demeanor. Though I suspect the city probably rakes in the bucks from the people who won't call to contest and just use the toll-free pay-by-phone option to make it go away when they send out red-light cam tickets to every person in the country with a similar tag number.
When Maryland changed its license plates in 1980, the MVA had the supremely brilliant idea to use not only the same numbering format, but also the same starting point, so that during the switchover, most numbers weree in use twice. For a month, my father had the same tag number as someone on the other side of the state who kept getting parking tickets and not paying them. Hilarity did not ensue.
Just another example of the Man doing everything he can to hold a business minded Negro down.
It's winter, it's good to heat the engine and fluids ever so often.
If Virginia Postrel was still editor, we would not get repeat brickbats from September.
The cops have fucked the people so many times this only seems like a repeat.
lol, imagine that? Is anyone surprised by this?

And nothing else happened.
Tell me they were driving his car to his house to shoot his dog. Please...let it be so.
