Starbucks Stepping into the Fiscal Cliff Debate

D.C. outlets will hand out cups with "Come Together" written on them later this week

Starbucks Corp. plans to serve up some mild political agitation with its coffee in the nation's capital later this week.

Howard Schultz, the coffee giant's chief executive who has signed onto the non-partisan "Fix the Debt" campaign, is asking baristas in about 125 D.C. and Virginia stores to symbolically support that effort by writing "Come Together" on every coffee cup on Thursday and Friday. The campaign, outlined on fixthedebt.org, supports measures including raising tax revenues and reforming Medicare and Medicaid to help solve the country's fiscal woes.
