Brickbat: The Latest Hairstyle
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel is a hometown hero in Kerrville, Texas. So fellow Kerrville resident Christian Chavez, 17, took a barber up on an offer to cut a portrait of Manziel into his hair. But when Chavez arrived at Hill Country High School, the principal took one look at his hair and told him to go home and not come back until he had the portrait removed. Officials with the school system say school policy forbids hairstyles that could be distracting.

Obviously the principle was being a complete (normal) fascist, but let’s face it, getting a college football QB’s portrait shaved into your hair puts you Head & Shoulders below most of the other idiots out there.
I must not misspell “principal” when calling him a fascist

Hey I’m hung over, and it’s early. Plus, criticising me on a Brickbat without using a article related pun is poor form.
You will pay for your impertinence.
If you are hung over you arent doing it right. Vodka and mixers that have no sugar. And lots of practice.
No can do. I’m a Girl Drink Drunk.
I hated high school and ditched every chance I got just because of shit like this. It was obvious to me then that high school had nothing to do with education and everything to do with compliance, obedience and conformity. Everyone else seemed oblivious to that and thought it was just peachy, a social club.
I remember being suspended for skipping class. That still cracks me up. Oh, you’re going to punish me for not going to school by… making me not go to school. Oh, shit, Brer Fox.
i hated all school. A few years ago I found my old school reports from grade 1 onwards*. Every single one has a complaint about my behaviour – my proudest achievement.
* no reports in kindergarten, but I was badly behaved there too because i could already read. Best bits: trying to get high by sniffing the ink on the stencils, and watching a classmate reveal his tiny scabby penis to relieve our boredom
YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD NEVER TELL ANYONE ABOUT THAT!
But seriously, I liked school. I hated waking up and going, but I liked being there. Then again, I lived in the woods in the middle of nowhere, so it was pretty much the only human contact I had outside of my folks. And they made Toki Wartooth’s parents look loving and caring.
“Every single one has a complaint about my behaviour – my proudest achievement.”
Now see…..if I had friends like you I might have enjoyed school somewhat.
College was great…but then I went back in the day when it was college and not glorified HS. We smoked in class and there were no attendance requirements. You passed or failed on your own.
In the school system I was propagandized by, we had a 3 tier grading system. Scholastic, effort, conduct.
It was common for me to get B3F, which denoted that I was more than capable of doing the work without trying very hard, and while talking a whole lot. I was pegged as a “talker” very early on, and thus ostracized from taking part in the gifted programs because of it; they didn’t want me to distract the other kids. Not a single teacher in 13 fucking years of government schooling picked up on the idea that I was a talker not because I was intent on classroom distraction, but because I WAS FUCKING BORED and required only a minimal amount of classroom instruction to comprehend and implement the skills needed to do the task.
Fuck government schools and the entire system. Let it fucking burn.

I was apparently the problem because I chose to sleep in the back of class every day rather than participate. This in spite of the fact that I made A’s on all tests. I got a 5 (highest score) on my AP Calculus exam, 92 or better on all tests in the class, and finished with like an 88 B because I probably turned in one homework assignment the whole year.
Fuck public schools.
My HS purposely scheduled the advanced science classes at the same time so people couldn’t take more than one a year. They didn’t want people to get “overwhelmed”. Or, you know, challenged.
I presume that’s the same bluish-purple ink they used in the mimeographs?
no reports in kindergarten, but I was badly behaved there too because i could already read.
I spent most of my time correcting my teachers.
Another ditcher here. Other than Whiterun, who did like HS?
I liked my last three years of HS, mostly because I went to boarding school and broke every rule they had and never really got caught.
I enjoyed it, mainly because I got to do interesting things and had no demands on my time except during the band and musical seasons. I find it funny how many people seem to have had really bad experiences in high school. I just never gave a shit about anything enough to get worked up over it.
I was mostly just bored, but I didn’t mind it that much. I liked seeing my friends everyday and having a group of people who were always down to go get fucked up on the weekends.
I thought high school was pointless. If I was going to sleep through class all day, couldn’t I just do that without coming to school?
Worst four years of my life.
Winner! I honestly thought it would never end.
I liked it more than previous schooling. Once I got to college I liked that a lot more. But at the time I wasn’t thinking “I hate this so much”.
Hank Hill’s barber: “So what’ll it be? The Roger Staubach or the Rookie Roger Staubach?”
You know stupidity like that haircut would fix itself without the intervention of school officials if they weren’t so keen on eliminating bullying.
Yes, because high school football players who idolize college football players are generally bullied…
Garden variety ridicule, which is what bullying includes these days, was available to all at my HS who did something laughable.
I hate having to keep repeating myself, but this is just one more example of how the State is the biggest bully of them all.
While that is a dumb haircut to get, that barber is an artist. Also,
Kerrville Independent School District public relations specialist Jamie Fails
What an apt name. I bet he knows what schoolyard ridicule is like.
“Jamie Fails? More like Jamie Stupidhead!! Hahahaha”
It is Texas, after all.
Am I alone in thinking that in spite of his incredible numbers, Johnny Manziel should lose the Heisman to Manti Teo of Notre Dame?
I’d agree.
I can’t root for the F’ing Irish.
I am not agree with school principal.I think everyone should wear his/her own hair cut.I can’t understand why the principle told him to go back home….??
