Obama Campaign Now Raffling Off Election Night Rally Spots for Donations
Would probably be more enjoyable if the president wins
On the heels of news Mitt Romney and Republicans hold a $45 million advantage over Obama and Democrats going into the last twelve days of the campaign, the campaign is raffling off tickets to the president's downsized election night rally in Chicago. Obama campaign manager Jim Messina writes with "some bad news":
I'm asking you to dig a little deeper, Edward:
We just found out that Mitt Romney and the Republicans outraised us in the first half of this month, putting us $45 million behind during these crucial final days.
The math here is pretty simple: With that cash advantage, they can outspend us by $4 million per day, every day, for the final 11 days.We know what that means -- more and more misleading, negative ads trashing the President, you, me, and everything we've accomplished together over the past four years.
And we know what we have to do…
After a year and a half of building and fighting and getting ready for Election Day, we cannot allow ourselves to be outdone at the very end.
On November 7th, when this campaign is behind us, you'll be glad you stepped up now.
Here's the good news: Any donation you make today automatically enters you for a free trip to Chicago where you'll meet the President and have front-row tickets to his speech on Election Night.

More soon,
Messina

No, this doesn't have the potential to backfire at all...
Would I have to bring my own rotten eggs? Or would they be supplied by the campaign?
Question: If a Presidential candidate winds up with a few dozen million in his campaign account after the election, what happens to that money?
Assuming the man from Massachusetts wins, he puts the money towards his reelection campaign. Assuming the incumbent wins, he pays of the remainder of the campaigns outstanding debts (stop laughing!) and give the rest to charity or other campaigns. The loser gives the money to charity or to other campaigns.
I'm asking you to dig a little deeper, Edward...
Yeah, Edward, you cheap fuck. Do you want the Republicans to BUY the White House.
I will be interested to see if that's the charge when Romney wins, considering the money advantage Obama had over McCain in 2008. And really, can money make that much of a difference? Are simple TV spots or whatever the eff they spend it on really that persuasive to voters, especially at this stage in the game?
Not according to Steven Levitt
Especially if they have ugly celebrities talking about sex. I'd kick in 5 bucks for the Dunham video to be remixed with Jessica Biel and Eva Longoria.
Wouldn't this run counter to FCC rules regarding lotteries?
Erh, FTC.
Hmm...come to think of it. Like the "No purchase required" disclaimer I see after different corporations sweepstakes on t.v. ads, I demand a free chance to win! I'm being disincluded! Disenfranchised even!
It falls under the Bingo exemption.
I'm asking you to dig a little deeper, Edward:
You realize that's the same phrasing he uses for tax increases ("asking" the rich to pay their fair share)
We know what that means -- more and more misleading, negative ads trashing the President, you, me, and everything we've accomplished together over the past four years.
Wow, the GOP is going to run ads trashing individual Obama supporters now? I kind of like this idea.
This seems like a losing pitch to me. If the Simpsons taught me anything, it's that people want to give their money to somebody who looks like they don't need it.
For comparison, here's the Romney pitch:
Fatty,
With less than two weeks to go, we're feeling the momentum.
The debates have supercharged our campaign and the Republican team. We're seeing more and more enthusiasm -- and more and more support.
This has become more than just a campaign. It's become a national movement. Americans recognize we can do better as a nation than we've done over these last four years.
Paul and I and the Republican team have a plan to produce a real recovery for America. We're going to take back this country with good jobs, rising take-home pay, a strong military, and better opportunities for all Americans.
This is a time to call on America's greatness. We need your help -- because it matters. It matters for your kids and their kids. It matters for 23 million Americans struggling for work. And it matters for the future of our nation to have a strong economy.
Contribute today to help us keep up the momentum.
Thanks to you, the movement is gaining steam -- and your continued support will propel us to victory.
Thanks,
Mitt Romney
Those dudes over there seem to know hats going on, most of the time.

Do they? All I've heard from them so far is vague handwaving promises and Paul Ryan's 100% bullshit "balance the budget in FIFTY YEARS" hype.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Obama pimping out his daughters for contributions. He is the slime.
