"Illicit drug use is a form of domestic terrorism to some extent," Says Massachusetts Police Chief
In an interview with the Patch.com affiliate for Wilmington, Massachusetts, Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis claims that illicit drug use is a form of terrorism:
"Illicit drug use is a form of domestic terrorism to some extent," said Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis. "It is preying on folks who are more susceptible and who need a better life. And it's something that we need to deal with head on."
While the rest of the city officials interviewed in the story pay lip service to the decaying stereotype of drug user as victim, Begonis has clearly upped the ante.
Just for fun, here are three definitions of terrorism, courtesy of dictionary.com:
1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting agovernment.
None of those definitions applies to illict drug use, or even to most illicit drug sales. But the first half of the third definition could, in some situations, apply to the way people like Begonis--who is the control chief of a mutl-jurisdiction SWAT and Rapid Response Team--enforce America's drug laws.
But perhaps more evidence is needed. So let's play a little game called, Which Person Would Scare You More If You Saw Him/Her Standing Outside Your Window at 5 A.M.?

For me, the guys with the machine guns and the legal authority to kill me in my own home inspire far more terror than illicit drugs or the people who use them.

There is no creature as pathetic as the Massachusetts politician. Craven, venal, stupid yet cunning, they shamble through life using seduction, trickery and extortion to grease their palms.
They have developed an expertise in cowing Massachusetts citizenry to their will, an ability so great that that it is unconscious and instinctive.
Their words and arguments fall apart at the slightest scrutiny, yet they somehow manage to twist and dissemble, to cajole and threaten so that it's as if they are reasonable stewards of the common weal rather than the imbecilic parasites they really are.
And should Romney win the presidency, you will all have your noses rubbed in this fact.

This is just an accounting fix. Taxpayers get angry at paying more for the Federal Prison System, but the DOD gets a blank check. Voila, several million dollars for the prisons are now in the DOD budget, and therefore untouchable.

If they really cared for the children they'd legalize and regulate marijuana. If they really wanted to keep any substance out of the hands of "The Children" they first must take control of distribution away from black market dealers. They haven't accomplished that in 40+ years at a taxpayers cost in the hundreds of billions. It's time to treat marijuana as we do alcohol. My 27 year old daughter still gets carded when she buys alcohol, yet your 13 year old can buy anything the black market dealer has for a price whether it be money or "something else".
FACT: Your kids have a better chance dying at the hands of someone enforcing marijuana laws than they do from ingesting it.(ZERO %).

Once the MJ legalization thing is underway, we need to address the carding issue too. It's not society's job to keep anyone's kids from being drunken, addicted failures, and I'm sick of the burden on me (I don't drive, and I refuse to pay for a fucking Booze Buying License, but I'm sure the mandate to present a scannable, unexpired, State Issued Permission Card will be passed at the federal or state level any day now...)
I say if a kid wants to get a paper-route and use the money to buy beer, cigarettes, or legal-weed, more power to em.

If you want to get technical about it prohibition of drugs is terrorism directly supported by domestic policy (our government). People who use drugs are usually AFRAID because they are TERRORIZED by law enforcement, who relies on this fear, to some extent, to identify 'suspicious' behavior. They encourage this fear, which is basically what it means to be a terrorist.
The REAL TERRORISTS are the ones with guns, badges, flash-bang grenades, and body-armor.
