Federal investigators have closed the abuse of power investigation of Maricopa County's Sheriff Joe Arpaio without filing any charges.
Federal prosecutors finally stop hounding that man. Score one for the little guy.
Dunphy's probably having an orgasm reading that news.
Dunphy, and a few million other people who are put off by blatant witch hunts.
Right after he blows his load after cleaning his 9mm and polishing his night stick.
you trolls are so fucking stupid, since you constantly misrepresent stuff that i have said many times
i have said many times i think arpaio is a grandstanding piece of shit, and an embarassment to law enforcement. my in-laws, who live in his county, as i have said, were asked to join his posse. they said no. they also think he;s an embarassment
iow, you are making it sound like i'm an arpaio fan
THAT aside, given that arpaio has challenged the feds for their pretty sad fucking enforcement of the border (which IS their job), and called them out, embarassed them, etc.
they have every reason to try to gin some bullshit charges up against them
so, considering they are not, that's pretty strong evidence that there either isn't any criminal wrongdoing going on OR he's damn fucking good at covering it up
again, arpaio is a grandstanding fuckstick and an embarassment to law enforcement, something i have said MANY times
so get some fucking understanding. poor trolling
I figure one of three things happened:
1) Joe did nothing wrong
2) Whatever Joe and his minions did was minor and it wasn't worth the Feds time
3) The Feds did worst and there was no way that wouldn't come out if the investigation continued.
I would like it to be 2 but something tells me it is 3.
(Another possibility is that Sheriff Joe was so popular in Arizona that any investigation would hurt Obama's chances of re-election. The cynic in me says with this President, this could be the case.)
So 1 and 4 then.
Arizona is not a battleground state this year, so I doubt it's 4. In fact, I'd think crucifying Arpaio for anything they can would play well with Hispanics elsewhere - sort of a base strengthening thing.
It is Gibson guitars all over again. Just federal thuggery.
The difference is that even a relatively small government agency, like the Maricopa Sheriff's department, has the resources to stand up to the Feds, if they want to. While the cost of the investigation could have easily bankrupted Gibson and financially ruined the owners.
If I owned Gibson I'd pack it up and move it overseas.
Gibson Guitars didn't destroy property or kill anyone. The fact a thug like Arpaio is so popular in the GOP is pretty much all the proof you need to know all their "small government" talk is BS.
Federal thuggery vs Maricopa county thuggery. Too bad the federal thuggery lost.
...while the U.S. has suspended training the Afghan Local Police after a spate of attacks by uniformed Afghans on U.S. and NATO forces.
Wrong strategy. We need to double down on training Afghan police. (Although maybe it would be best to mail the trainee his weapon.)
Another opportunity for distance learning to shine.
Why would we double down on training a force of even worse quality than the ANA.
...while President Obama says he's a huge fan of the actor and director's work and wasn't offended by his remarks at the RNC.
Keep dreaming, shitball. The early morning (strangely off target) rebuttal tweet suggests Obama didn't suddenly grow thick skin while his effigy seat was being Eastwooded.
Give him credit for having some connection to reality and realizing how badly his devotees were blowing it.
Yes, I concede that he can sometimes see the obvious.
I'd say, give him credit for knowing that it's not smart to fool with the ol' Man With No Name - one of the most revered people in America.
Oh Christ. Obama is SMARTER than his fans. We're doomed.
My first thought reading that line was "then what about your childish little picture of you in the president's chair"?
Blame the underlings. That's what you do for any unpopular action.
Yup. A minion, lackey, or hired goon tweeted that pic. I never believe the candidate themselves tweets something unless they actually say "Yes, I myself am writing this". I always assume its a spokesperson.
Or if it's a pic of their wiener.
Israel removed settlers from Migron in the West Bank because the settlers built their homes on private Palestinian property without a permit.
Private property rule of law victory! Wait, this is reported the opposite of usual. Is there a typo in there someplace?
Because you can apparently obtain permits to build on private Palestinian property.
See below, apparently Palestinians are prohibited from doing land deals with Israelis. Severe penalties apply.
Correction: the PA slave-masters prohibit land deals with JEWS. It's gonna be a great state when they finally kill enough people to get it!
Palestinian private property? That must be in Israel, because in the PA controlled areas there is no right to private property. Not in any civilized, Western sense of the word.
There's been similar court rulings before. The question is, when next Tuesday comes and the settlers are still there, is anyone from the Israeli government going to enforce the court order? Under the Netanyahu administration, the answer has generally been no.
Uh they've already had evictions like this under Netanyahu.
Remember the evictions of thousands of Israeli families because the U.N. and world leaders wanted Israel to throw the Palis a bone? Those Israelis had title to their property. Too bad, peace talks take precedence over property rights. The families lived in government-provided cardboard (yes, cardboard) shacks for months. If you did this to Palis the world would scream "Auchwitz!"
They showed the violence against the settlers on both Israeli and American TV. Israeli soldiers who refused to beat fellow Jews from their homes were prosecuted.
But I don't like the conclusion.
The University of Texas-Austin is backing a sociology professor who came under withering attack for a study that found children of same-sex parents are more likely to be depressed or on welfare than kids raised by heterosexual couples.
The school launched an inquiry into Professor Mark Regnerus' peer-reviewed work last month after a New York-based blogger attacked him for a controversial paper which compared the adult lives of people raised by parents in same-sex relationships to those raised by parents in traditional marriages. The study found several differences, including some that were potentially negative. But an inquiry by the school found Regnerus used sufficiently scholarly methods, university officials announced this week.
Fuckers. Its like they've forgotten (okay, not like, they have forgotten) that the whole point of academia and the ivory tower was to be able to safely say unpopular things that one believes to be true. Now the tower priesthood conducts its own witchhunts.
Does that mean that we can get rid of tenure now? Since even the supporters of it reject the premise used to justify it.
Absolutely.
Because interfering in private contracts is totally OK when you're sticking it to the leftists (and any libertarians unfortunate enough to share an occupation with them).
And the results of the Texas inquiry show that most academics still accept the idea of academic freedom. The university was justified in doing an investigation since doubts were raised about the methods in the study.
Hardly a private contract since the University of Texas is a public institution.
Those who peer reviewed the author didn't see any problems with the methodology.
The university went about its witch hunt based on the fact that a blogger was butthurt. It had nothing to do with potential methodology problems. It was the excuse they needed to go after a guy who came up with a conclusion they didn't like. That they came to the correct conclusion is no comfort.
Brought about on the word of a fucking blogger nonetheless.
It must be RACISM!
Nice that he won. He better hope that he never loses his current job 'cuz he'll never work in that field again if he does.
Liberty University would hire him in a second. Red meat for the base.
Assuming they even have sociology courses.
a controversial paper which compared the adult lives of people raised by parents in same-sex relationships to those raised by parents in traditional marriages.
That's not actually what the study compared, though. It compared the adult lives of people raised by parents in stable traditional marriages to the adult lives of people who had at least one parent with almost any sort of gay encounter during their marriage. Dad and mom are married 15 years and then dad comes out? You got put in the "raised by parents in same-sex relationships" group even though you were really raised by "traditionally married" parents who got divorced because one of them was gay.
He fully admitted as much in the paper, and that it was because the population of adults raised by actual same-sex couples was too small, but it's a very, very weak study.
Even if the children of parenta in same sex marriages have a higher occurrence of depression, is it because they have same-sex parents, or because they had to grow up with assholes constantly telling them their family was fake and their parents were evil?
Also, they are much more likely to be adopted, which may play a role.
I eagerly await the hard-hitting, take-no-prisoners fact checking of the DNC from the WaPo, NYT, and MSNBC that they applied to the RNC.
Sing it!

Wait, is the ban on conducting real estate deals with Israelis or with Jews? People confuse the two pretty often you know.
Yes. Especially people who confuse being critical of Israel with being anti-Jew. (I don't use anti-Semitic because the Palestinians are also Semitic)
What about the people who equate the sight of Israeli Olympic athletes with public gay sex? Are they "anti-Jew", Tulpa?
Only if they're anti-public-gay-sex.
The word anti-Semitic means what it means. You show your true colors when you trot out that old PLO etymology bullshit.
And Palestinians are anti-Jew. No question about it. Mein Kampf outsells 50 Shades of Gray (though possession of the latter by Pali females would probably result in a beating).
Are there any laws NOT punishable by death in the Middle-East?
Killing Jews is not a crime there, so I guess you are right.
Yes, defaming a Koran for the purpose of framing a Christian in a death penalty case gets you 20 days of house arrest.
No. The word "law" means very little in a society run by 7th century savages.
Israeli law prohibits citizens from selling land to Palestinians.
Only the land owned by the JNF, not? Foreigners can lease land from the land authority (that owns 95% of Israel) I believe.
Lease != sell
This man was a hero for liberty. I am very sad he died.
Something, something bigger boat.
A massive shark washed up on a New England beach this weekend, prompting officials to close down two nearby beaches.
Did that that little Kintner boy spill out all over the dock?
What a bunch of pussies. A shark? Lives in the ocean? Where people swim? The horror!
This. I live on the coast, in a large resort area and every summer someone gets bitten by a shark and people go insane. For some reason they think all aquatic animals are supposed to suspend their normal behavior for the duration of their vacation.
It's like no one has ever seen "Shark Week" on cable. Given what a bunch of couch potato lard asses people are in this country that's unpossible.
It's quite possible this shark died outside the area where people swim.
When you stop hunting seals and the seals get abundant, the sharks show up. Sharks gotta eat.
Does seal meat taste good, I wonder?
Inuits eat it. I think it is massively high in fat.
Interesting. I assume that would make it instantly better tasting than venison?
I saw Antony Bourdain eat it raw in Iceland on an episode of No Reservations. He liked it. But I think it is difficult to eat very often because of its fat content. Inuits have this insane ability to process cholesterol the rest of us don't.
You mean to say there are people are on the Earth that are physically different from everyone else? Isn't that RRRRAAAACCCCIIIISSSST?!?!?!?
I find it to be extremely lipidist.
Inuits have this insane ability to process cholesterol the rest of us don't.
You're the Jimmy the Greek of nutrition commentators!
The whole cholesterol thing is a myth. The low fat, low cholesterol crusaders made it up to keep from having to acknowledge that the existence of Inuits blew their theory to smithereens. Non-Inuits can do just fine on Inuit diets.
That was extremely dangerous. Seal meat is host to a spirochete than can infect just about any mammal and make them very sick even dead. I hope they had some sort of test.
It makes wonderfully water repellent garments.
My wife has a nice hat made of seal fur. Beautiful, soft and dry.
Just remember: an average of five americans are killed in shark attack each year; an average of 13 americans are killed by vending machines each year.
Interesting, I wonder how the vending machines were able to gget into the water?
What...?
It's mostly a case of people getting crushed while trying to shake a stuck item loose and accidentally tipping to vending machine over ontop of them.
More hard hitting journalism from the MSM.
It's good to see that the evidence of a capital crime was in the hands of a totally impartial member of the community. I'm sure that was totally legit.
But it can be waved around a mosque to incite a mob to violence. Obviously, we're talking about a bunch of rocket surgeons here.
An imam in Pakistan is accused of planting burned pages of the Quran in a disabled Christian teen's book bag, causing her to be subject to charges of blasphemy, which carry the death penalty there.
Inquiring minds want to know: How did the imam obtain those burned pages?
Just fucking animals.
No, John, Religion of Peace! or something like that.
I'm pretty sure fucking animals does not produce burned Koran pages, although I'm willing to be shown otherwise.
Maybe he rescued the Koran from a burning building?

Democrats go on a gun control bender proving that peak retard is nearly here.
Part of the reason I'd love to be divorced is I could finally arm myself.
Definitely WOULD NOT decorate my saloon with Ned's body.
It is like the Dems want to lose in a landslide. Since we didn't lose enough votes by gutting welfare reform, lets go for gun control.
The contortions would be marvelous to behold. How long before "What's Wrong With Kansas: American Bigot" get's published?
It doesn't matter what the Dem gun plank says. No gun person is going to vote for them anyway and no one else cares about the matter.
There are a shitload of pro gun Dems. This is a huge loser for them. I hope they make it an issue.
Not true. Gun owners are not all Republicans and are perfectly capable of sitting out the election even if they are.
I definitely agree that any gun owner who was going to vote for BO before this is dumb as a box of rocks.. but let's not project our rationality onto other people. There are a lot of low-information Dem voters out there who know nothing about F+F, etc.
They know about it. They know that it is a bunch of Republicans trying to attack Holder because they're racist."
Take your wife to the firing range, start small with a .22 and work your way up. By the time she's firing the Springfield 1911, she'll be cool with you arming yourself, and herself. It worked in my family. Why just yesterday we went and tried out a nice variety of shotguns.
Just make sure they give her an actually small, light-weight .22. Someone once tried to start me out that way, but with a schmancy one for competition shooting the weighed a ton because of the bells and whistles, and I was like, why is this harder to shoot than a 1911? And by "shoot," I mean "hold up in front of me for more than five minutes."
Why were you trying to hold the gun up in front of you for five minutes? You can lower it in between shots if you want.
Small and lightweight means more recoil, which is a bigger problem than ability to hold up for long periods of time.
Okay, I was probably exaggerating?but whether it's five minutes straight or not, for people who aren't used to it, holding a relatively heavy object in that position is quite difficult. Maybe harder for women than men, that wouldn't surprise me at all. But I hardly ever get to go to the range, and when I do, it's exhausting, lowering between shots or no.
Yeah, if you don't specifically target the muscles responsible for holding arms horizontally (deltoids) they don't develop much. When I first started doing shoulder raises at the gym it was embarrassing because I had to do it with the 10 lb dumbells. But I don't think it's a male vs. female thing, at least not for the weight of a commonly used gun.
Maybe you can come to the gym with me and Dunphy next week and we'll show you how it's done. [jk]
and being able to hold a weighted object out like that is a form of strength referred to as static strength endurance. you could have pretty strong and explosive shoulders, but if you don't train for that specific type of strength, you won't see the best results
strongmen actually compete in some events like that where they have to hold objects up with their arms horizontal.
personally, i don't "need" that kind of strength, and i have no idea how good i'd be at it.
my shoulder work pretty much solely consists of
jerk
neck jerk
push press
behind neck push press
snatch grip push press
and of course doing the classic lifts (snatch and CJ)
no "direct" or isolation work for shoulders
i know a few lifters who do strict press, but i think push press has far more carryover to the classic lifts, although for certain lifters, at certain stages of their development, there is a place for strict pressing imo
otoh, i would NEVER do a seated press. that's about as likely as me doing a smith machine squat. aint gonna happen
i do occasionally do kettlebell pressing, but that's more for GPP and active rest than direct strength development
Ooh, speaking of gun control, I finally broke into the pistol safe whose combination I forgot. I haven't seen these guns in like 2 years. Its like Christmas!
If a pistol safe is broken into in the woods is it a safe?
It kept me out for 2 years, so its pretty safe.
But wouldn't "an honest and open conversation about firearms" be fun? Someone could actually teach journalists the meaning of "automatic" and "semiautomatic."
To be fair, I've heard quite a few gun people refer to semiautomatic pistols as "automatic" too. Including these guys at some GA gun shop, who are otherwise very good edutainment.
When they do it, it's understood that they mean "autoloader." When a journalist does it, it's never clear if they mean "machine gun."
That's because the use of the word "automatic" to describe handguns has a completely differen etymology than the use of the word "automatic" to describe rifles, and while becoming less common today, the handgun usage predates the refile usage by nearly half a century.
OK, but I'm a gun enthusiast (probably not as hardcore as many here, but somewhat) and "automatics" sounded wrong to me because I didn't know the backstory. You have to agree the terminology is inconsistent, no?
I could see how a journalist who has no experience with gun culture would be confused. (until corrected by a person who knows better, but that's another story)
OK, now that I think about it that would explain 380 Auto and 45 ACP, which I've been referring to without thinking about the words.
You are assuming that journalists are smart enough to learn. Big assumption
Slight modification:
I wonder how sympathetic The Hill's blogger would be if this were the topic?
Retard is forgivable. What these folks exhibit is evil. Here is an interesting essay from the JPFO on the Psychiatry of the Anti-gun Mentality.
http://jpfo.org/filegen-n-z/ra.....efense.htm
One of my favorite t-shirts came from jpfo. 'All in favor on gun control, raise your right hand" with a picture of Hitler on front. The back lists the benefits of gun control. Fun things like gulags and killing fields.
Two groups filed a formal complaint Wednesday asking New York state's ethics enforcement agency to investigate state Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's handling of sexual-harassment complaints against a high-ranking lawmaker.
The National Organization for Women and Common Cause, a government transparency group, submitted the formal complaint, calling for a probe into Mr. Silver's approval of a secret $100,000 taxpayer-funded payment to settle accusations by female employees against Assemblyman Vito Lopez.
http://hotair.com/archives/201.....-new-york/
Since we're fighting a "War on Women" does this mean the high-ranking lawmaker is an Afghan police officer?
once again proof of how this war on women actually plays out: Repub SAYS something stupid and that is treated as concrete proof of said war; Dem DOES something stupid and the MSM ignores it.
By the way, is the ICE woman's ouster indicative of a Dem war on men?
With landmark lawsuit, Barack Obama pushed banks to give subprime loans to Chicago's African-Americans
Thanks. I'm saving this for the next "blame the banks" idiot.
Save this, too, I updated it a bit over the weekend.
BO is a financially illiterate scumbag, but anti-redlining lawsuits weren't the primary cause of the bubble. The Fed was.
The Atlantic: Look at these fucking yokels we found in Polk County, FL. Like West Jersey is better. Fuck off, yankees.
said she'd go with Obama this fall if she could get on the rolls in time. In 2008, "I didn't think he was knowledgeable enough. He didn't have enough behind him," she said. "Now I think Romney is in the same position."
Boundless stupidity. Hope this yokel remembers to breathe.
No, sorry. Florida is a shithole.
Jus' sayin'
If FL is a shithole, snowbirds who didn't migrate home made it that way. And The Mouse. Fuck Disney.
No argument there.

Joe Klein says Obama should play the race card. Yeah, that will help.
The race card? What is this, 2008?
Where's the Labor Day thread?
Here is an interesting article about the Olde Gold Commission of the 1980s. I have heard many here dismiss it as useless at best and a ruse at worst but the author makes a case that although it didn't implement a gold standard the commission did scare the Fed into getting its monetary act together for nearly 2 decades.
http://www.forbes.com/search/?q=gold+commission
Gee. Afghans biting the hand that feeds it. Who would have thought?
Can we get the fuck out of that shithole now? Please?
I think you mean "pisshole":
[extremely offensive joke deleted]
He was so "not offended" that he felt the need to respond to Eastwood in about the most childish way possible.
Not offended my ass.
