44% of Americans Think the Economy is Getting Worse

Only 16% think that the economy is getting any better.

One major problem the President faces in his re-election campaign is the lagging economy. Perceptions of how the economy is faring have lately been trending in the wrong direction for his re-election chances. In this week's Economist/YouGov Poll, 44% of all adults – the highest percentage since late 2011 – believe the economy is getting worse.
