54 Percent Expect New Tax Revenue to Increase Spending, Not Close Deficit
A recent Public Notice survey asked respondents what they thought the government should do with revenue raised from President Obama's proposed tax increase on households making at least $1 million per year. 71 percent said the government should pay down the debt and deficit and 16 percent wanted to increase spending on government programs.
Instead, Congress will likely enact "spending cuts" that are merely decreases in the growth of actual spending, if a cut is made at all. Americans are not ignorant of this government tendency. As such, a majority (54 percent) expects the president will use increased revenue to increase spending on government programs, and only 27 percent believe he will pay down the debt and deficit.

54 Percent Expect New Tax Revenue to Increase Spending, Not Close Deficit...
...and the other 46% are fokin' idiots.
I am far more surprised that 54% get it than than 46% do not.

It's a trick question. No additional revenue will be raised.
They don't train the people on the phone how to deal with answers that fall outside their predesignated options. I was called for a telephone poll a few weeks ago, and the guy asked me if I was going to vote for Obama or Romney. When I said neither, he was flabbergasted. It was if he was completely unaware that there are other candidates. I actually spent like two minutes explaining to this guy that I won't vote for the lesser of two evils, because I won't vote for evil.
OH! This is from Emily Ekins.
*swoon*
Hello, Ms. Ekins! I hope all is well with you today. I look forward to seeing you again. Good bye!
It's actually pretty shocking that 1 out of 4 people think Obama would reduce spending if revenue goes up. WTF what planet do they live on?
Planet Hollywood?
Obama's "plan" from the get go was to increase spending by leaps and bounds, growing the size of government. This in turn would require more taxation. See any modern socialist state for the blueprint.
So the majority is correct once in a while.
So I see the percentage of hardcore donks out there is holding steady at 27% +/- 3.5%.
Because only somebody with a lifelong addiction to the kool-aid could believe that shit.
New Poll:
What Etkins SHOULD do with alt-text
It's like this:
Supposing Team Blue manages to go back to the vaunted Bush era tax rates at The Magic Number of 39.6%:
After passing the hat, Team Blue will within a few months (being generous here) come back with their pockets turned inside-out, and with that look teenagers give their parents when they blow through their allowance, ask for yet another tax increase to Another, Higher Magic Rate.
They will explain that things are worse than they imagined, and ZOMG we're all gonna die if we don't put a tighter squeeze on people making more than, say, eighty grand a year because who deserves that much money anyway?
Of course, when asked what they did with the money they just got (if any) from going back to The Magic Tax Rate of 39.6%, Team Blue will shrug and say things like "Are you serious? Are you serious?" and "We spent it on The Children, you greedy bastardfucks" - and not one thing at all will be better. Not even a smidgen.
And, somehow, Paulie Krugnuts and Bernie Sanders will wind up co-hosting a show on MSNBC. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.
