Canadian City Reluctantly Agrees That It's Permissible To Celebrate Your Freedom on Your Own Property Without First Getting Government Approval
In August, I posted about Lech and Marta Jaworksi, who along with their son Peter host an annual Liberty Summer Seminar on their property in Clarington, Ontario. Last year, the couple was threatened with a $50,000 dollar fine for violating local zoning ordinances. The sad irony here is that a couple who emigrated to Canada in the 1980s to escape communist Poland would face a potentially bankrupting fine for putting on a conference celebrating freedom.
I'm happy to report that thanks to some legal help from the Canadian Constitution Foundation, all charges against the Jaworski's have now been dropped. National Post coverage here.

Canadian teens are tough SOB's.:
A 15-year-old Inuit boy is recovering in a Montreal hospital and risks losing some of his toes from frostbite after he and a friend were lost on the tundra in northern Quebec for four days.

No Inuit boys are tough. Find a white kid in Toronto or Montreal and he's the same pasty-faced fucking pansy that you've become accustomed to among teenagers here in the USA.
He was hunting Polar bears; cool that he was participating in his cultural legacy. They have huge alcohol/drug/suicide issues.
"They have huge alcohol/drug/suicide issues."
Good, they are murderous scum anyway. Let Darwin do his work!
Say what you will about current American politics and civil liberties, but at least our authorities HAVE a Bill of Rights to ignore.
We've got one. It just isn't worth shit.
In Canada that is.
On behalf of all Canadians: sorry.
In Soviet Union Freedom imprisons YOU!
Fucking Canada. How does it work?
Seriously. How?
What???
Heathens!!

Uhm, we're no better off really. Various cities in LA requires that you pull and pay temporary or special events permits for events. It could be as small as a house party or a car wash.
Hey, we don't expect California to be any better. Wouldn't surprise me if that's where Canada learned it from.

Congrats to the Jaworksi's - I've been to their Seminar once and it was absolutely fantastic - best libertarian conference I've been to though that may have something to do with a lack of American libertarians 🙂
The kick in the balls by faint praise. Well done.
What can I say? Balko knows ball-kickin'.
The power-trippers municipal authorities, it appears disregarded Section 2 by applying (reasonable and demonstrable in their minds) justification such as is allowed in Section 1.
It also seems some Canadian municipal authorities can be embarrassed enough to back down from their original crap... which has proven to be extremely rare in similar situations with their US counterparts.
