On the Tube: Veronique de Rugy on Egypt & Foreign Aid FUBAR
Reason mag columnist Veronique de Rugy, an economist at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, talked with Bloomberg TV and did a "Reality Check" segment on the effects of U.S. foreign aid in Egypt. For decades, Egypt has been the second-largest recipient of American foreign aid and the results have been nothing short of a travesty.
It's about 6.30 minutes long.
Go here for de Rugy's archive and check out her previous Reality Check segment, which is about the debt ceiling.

Veronique is a self-hating foreigner.
But who else will we pay billions to make nice with Israel?
Jordan? Lebanon/Syria? The Palestinian Authority?
They all actually get a hefty chunk to play nice with Israel.
Rule Duh of US foreign aid: No country gets more than token aid from us unless they can do something for us.
That's why Egypt and Israel get so much--so they don't go back to war and stop that sweet, sweet oil flowing to our SUVs.
Is that about right?
The oil coming to the USA does not go through the Suez canal. The small percentage that does come from the Middle East goes around Africa in super tankers which do not fit through the Suez.
So Israel and Egypt going to war does not cut off US oil supplies
Veronique de Rugy just pretty much rules on the analysis and asplainin' things. Glad she does what she does!
Plus, of course, she's on the All Name team of economists. Goes without saying...
