Why does Matt Welch look like a fucking rodent? Is that a special makeup?

    1. Matt Welch   15 years ago

      Genetics and life choices, mostly.

      1. Max   15 years ago

Geez, I didn't expect you to answer directly. I was just trying to tweek the zombies. Now I feel terrible. You look just fine.

        1. Rhayader   15 years ago

Yeah man, Welch will mix it up more than most, I've had him respond to my dickheadishness before too.

        2. joshua corning   15 years ago

Now I feel terrible. You look just fine.

Could this be the begining of a Liberaltarian golden age on hit and run!?!?

Also I always thought Mr Frisby was a very handsome mouse.

    2. Slap the Enlightened!   15 years ago

Oh, I don't think he looks like a rodent. I'd say he looks more like he could play Jimmy Olsen in the next Superman movie...

      1. -   15 years ago

        Wide-angle lenses can be cruel.

      Re: Max,

      Max, H&R's pet yorkie.

Here boy! Here, go fetch! That's a good boy! Yeah!

  2. Matt Welch   15 years ago

YOU'RE BLOWING YOUR COVER. There exists in the world a hoo-larious picture of me posing next to a stuffed guinea pig in the small Oregon/California town of Half.com (yes, a town sold its name to a dot-com company way back when) ... and let's just say the resemblance was uncanny.

    1. Matt Welch   15 years ago

      Reply-fail to Max.

      1. joshua corning   15 years ago

The anti-threaded post brigade will remember this Welch.

        They never forgot.

    2. Special Sauce   15 years ago

Hey Matt, if I have sex with my mom and tout the virtues of Marxism like Max, will you also respond directly to my posts?

      1. wylie   15 years ago

I think it's just proof that our resident trolls work at Reason.

        1. joshua corning   15 years ago

Weigel/Joe left a long time ago...I suspect after that episode they would not want to repeat it.

  3. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

What is up with the cameraman? Was he being paid by the mile?

Also, why won't that very lovely lady let Matt finish a thought? It's not like he's rambling.

    1. Episiarch   15 years ago

Ha, that's funny that you called Althouse very lovely...wait, you were serious?

      1. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

IT WILL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE I EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE BLOGGINGHEADS.

        (Except for right there.)

        1. Satan   15 years ago

          Is that... snow?

      2. Rhayader   15 years ago

The RT lady was indeed very lovely, and yes, seemed dedicated to interrupting Matt with inaccurate summaries of what he was trying to say.

  4. NoStar   15 years ago

The bias begins in journalism schools. The progressive default starts with the godfather of modern journalism, Walter Lippman.

Most journalist were against Bush's Wars, but are suddenly less concerned with the wars or willing to make excuses now that Obama is running the show (even if he follows Bush's timetables.)

The journalist talking with Matt did not let one thing he said infiltrate her point of view which is that liberal bias cannot be shown to be overt regarding her handpicked issues, so illustrating that the bias is more subtle than that has no bearing on her opinion. She then recaps by restating her opening opinion smugly thinking Matt proved her point.

So Matt, do you feel like you've been used?

    1. Episiarch   15 years ago

NoStar, dude, Althouse is a law professor, not a journalist (other than being a blogger).

      1. NoStar   15 years ago

        Episiarch,
I was referring to the girl with more boobs than brains in the second video.

        1. Episiarch   15 years ago

Whoops, sorry. But are you saying more boobs than brains is bad?!?

          1. Jason   15 years ago

Stupid does get boring after a while.

          2. NoStar   15 years ago

I'm saying in the long run, brains are more important. Brains can overcome a deficiency in boobage, but boobs can only distract from a lack of brains for a short while.

        2. joshua corning   15 years ago

What I find interesting is the RT lady's resemblance to O'Connell.

It would be awesome if someone pointed out the resemblance on air in an interview.

She would freak the fuck out though and who ever did it probably would not be returning to her show.

  5. Almanian   15 years ago

Could the RT woman's boobs be any bigger? I think not. Thanks, RT!

Also, Matt, I'm pretty sure you probably did a good job. I think. I'll have to watch again for "content".

PS and in the vid cap for the BhTV, I was kind of thinking it looked like you'd just been struck in The Resistance, but that can happen to any of us...

    1. jacob   15 years ago

Thanks to your post I went back and watched the second video.

  6. Irresponsible Hater   15 years ago

Is there a way to mute the Althouse side of the screen?

  7. Old Mexican   15 years ago

Welch chewed on Radley Balko's thesis that Prop. 19 coverage shows media bias is more statist than liberal[.]

In the past 80 years or so, "liberal" has come to mean "statist," and not "pro-freedom."

But it is still more accurate to say that the news media (journalists and editorialists) is statist than [classical] liberal.

    1. Special Sauce   15 years ago

      ^^^ THIS ^^^

    2. Rhayader   15 years ago

But it is still more accurate to say that the news media (journalists and editorialists) is statist than [classical] liberal.

It's amazing how angry this obvious truth made everyone the other day in Balko's post.

  8. Tanya   15 years ago

Matt does just fine. Ann...keeps staring at notes on her lower-right. Yikes. It's like watching my mom Skype.

  9. sloopyinca   15 years ago

Matt needs to put one side of his collar inside his sweater every few questions when the camera is off him and answer like a retard.

It's the Adam/Stuart Chandler All My Children dynamic. Do it next time on bloggerheads with one of those morons. They'd never know what was up because when you're talking they're usually smelling their own farts.

    1. sage   15 years ago

      Heh.

  10. R C Dean   15 years ago

The establishment media is probably most accurately described as "apparatchik". Which means that what they say is statist/authoritarian, nearly all the time.

But not because they have deeply held principles or anything. Nah, they're apparatchiks for the same reason anyone ever is: personal advancement and social standing, and be damned to human decency.

    1. sage   15 years ago

      TEH COCKTAIL PARTEEEEZ!

  11. Tanya   15 years ago

*snicker* "Michael C. Moynihan finally has one vote for DC City Council."

  12. joshua corning   15 years ago

I really like these blogging heads videos but judging from the amount of comments they don't generate i am in the minority.

adding the RT video will probably help this one...but i think more needs to be done to generate interest in them.

My suggestion would be to link to articles along with the Blogginghead video from the reason staff and from the person they are talking with...even better if the articles are on the subjects you guys are talking about.

    1. Rhayader   15 years ago

The bloggingheads stuff is interesting, but they are usually too long for the slack-off-at-work types like myself. Also, I think they would benefit from going with embedded YouTube vids, which always load better than anything else on my shitty work DSL.

  13. ola   15 years ago

what is this liberal hack's problem? maybe she should just use the same argument about med mj for her pet project gay marriage. does she think the states that have gay marriage shouldn't be allowed because there is no federal recognition? how do she think federal overreach gets stopped? when has federal overreach in any area been stopped except without the states' finally saying "i mad as hell and not going to take it anymore". if she thinks the federal overlords can dictate anything they want why dont we have a national real id? because some states said fuck off. just cause she doesn't recognize the med use of mj, i guess all the med users can fuck off too.

    Ann!!!

If you need fresh air from Madison Wisconsin left wing sprawl do not go for Rush Limbaugh...

That is the equivalent of a switch from breathing carbon monoxide to breathing pure carbon dioxide...

If you want a real fresh air it can be found at Reason. Its like breathing pure oxygen chilled in the Arctic atop an alpine forest.

  16. Deathof Neolibwaffle   15 years ago

What is the NEOLIBwaffle doing at these highs of the war?: deathliest mi$$ions after neolibwaffle bubble bombing$, acornorc$, orcoyote invasions (cuba is having 1 mill gov unemployed, megaMariel incomming to join Mexican insurgency), drivebymedia armies divertions: obama citizenship (truth: p/o/b became American soil 1 year later bho d/o/b, so, American (mom), but not by birthplace, so, senator may be ok, he resigned American nationality to recieve Indonesian MADRAZAS...), blame Bush, machinery attacks to PALIN, ROMNEY..., HUCKABE AND RINOS STARS BACK EVEN ON FOX?...
But, as usual, we remember who we are... we destroy neolibwaffle$(ba$e$hip$)&govmedia; re$urrection$hip$, same frak we did last week!!...

  17. Neolibwaffle deathliestm$$ion   15 years ago

Go to primaries Palin, Romney, Rubio and O N L Y TEAPARTY APPROVED CANDIDATES, WHY?: just, because 2010 election WAS A TEAPARTY TOUGH JOB, NOT GOP's, GOP's would have another 2008 CYLON GOVFEST!!, PALIN, NOT R O V E... was the MASSIVE (DEFETING NEOLIBMONEY&MACHINE;) VOTING!!, and, we need more of what WE did on 2012!!
Freedomedia needs to concentrate on bho's taxes&defense; policies: THE REAL "mcoy", the big tamale... the tnt depot, the nuke komunistic old soviet plan govcylon$, gov$ith$(now with terror mideastern states with "suiciders:uruk-hay force", oilmoneydependency...)...
