Though it's certainly just one in a million of such reactions, this Nicholas Kristof post-election take in The New York Times seems a near-perfect specimen of what President Obama's record looks like inside a certain political/commentariat bubble. Sample:
My feeling is that the country has gone too far on blaming its economic distress on Mr. Obama, failing to give him credit for averting another Great Depression among other achievements. But it seems as if Michelle and I may be the only ones who think that way.
I plumb the national disappointment when I return to my hometown in rural Oregon. One friend who has struggled to get health care and will benefit hugely from Mr. Obama's health plan is indignant at Mr. Obama — partly because of incorrect scare stories he has heard about the health reform. Others are aghast at the economic stimulus, even though it provided desperately needed jobs. In short, Mr. Obama hasn't mustered an argument that resonates even among the beneficiaries of his policies.
Not only does Kristof credit Obama with apparently unmeasurable economic policy successes that the rubes are too dull-witted to discern, he then writes as if the GOP is ascendant because of social conservatism:
[C]onsider Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina, freshly re-elected and the godfather of the Senate's Tea Party faction. In an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, Mr. DeMint advises new Tea Party members of Congress not to be co-opted and adds: "Put on your boxing gloves. The fight begins today."
That's a fight that should end with a knockout for Mr. Obama. Over the years, Mr. DeMint has spoken out against not only gay teachers but also female teachers who have sex before marriage. After a rally on Oct. 1, the Spartanburg, S.C., newspaper paraphrased him: "An unmarried woman who's sleeping with her boyfriend — she shouldn't be in the classroom."
Mr. DeMint later clarified that this is an issue best left for local school boards. But I think most Americans seek a moral leadership that isn't about wagging fingers at women who have sex with boyfriends. The moral imperative should be getting Americans jobs, decent schools, access to doctors and a measure of opportunity.
Funny thing about that DeMint op-ed: Nowhere does he mention gay people, premarital sex, or anything at all having to do with social conservatism.
While I for one fervently wish DeMint's ideas about cultural issues tacked closer to live-and-let-live tolerance, to the point where I instinctively mistrust his proclaimed championing of "less government and more freedom," it is impossible to read this buck-the-GOP-establishment manifesto–with its talk of looming "fiscal disaster," earmark corruption, runaway entitlements, and bloated government–as a clarion call for social conservatism.
If Kristof and his ilk genuinely seek understanding of what happened Tuesday, it would start with entertaining at least limited self-doubt about their economic-policy assumptions, and realizing that the political juice fueling this revolt has much more to do with fiscal conservatism than Terri Schiavo.
This would, however, entail some hands-dirtying with actual economic policy and results. In lieu of that, Kristof goes for the old standby: "Mr. Obama, It's Time for Some Poetry." Sounds to me like an invitation to a limerick contest in the comments!

I want to pay for Black and Brown peoples Medical care...in fact i would like to pay for people of all colors medical care.
The problem is if i did that poeple would not have any insentive to preserve the resource. They would get as much medical care as they could until i ran out of money...and if i had an infinite amount of money they would consume health care until all the health care was consumed....and rather then conserving the total health care available for those who need it the most health care would be given out to those who were there first rather then those most in need.
You might have heard the term "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need"
not a very libertarian phrase but workable. You see the world has limited resources. The question is how do get people with ability to produce what those in need need.
The answer is pretty simple: free markets. You see free markets create incentives for those with ability to produce at their peek ability. This in turn expands the resource pool. Furthermore on the flip side those in need need to know how much resources are available so they do not take to much and leave others in need empty handed. Again free markets help. They put a price on things so consumers (those in need) will not dry up the resource. What is great about this system is there is a feed back. You see if somehting is really needed then its price goes up...this price signal tells those with ability (the producers) that more of it needs to be produced. So now those with ability run out and try their damnedest to get what is needed made to those who need it can get it.
Without this system of incentives and signals we do not know what is needed and who needs it....so what happens is those with ability produce less and often the worng thing...the result being that the resource pool of what is needed shrinks...and ultimately with scarce resources we end up with those with power and connections getting what is needed rather then those who need it.

After a rally on Oct. 1, the Spartanburg, S.C., newspaper paraphrased [Sen. DeMint]: "An unmarried woman who's sleeping with her boyfriend ? she shouldn't be in the classroom."
If she's having sex with her boyfriend she certainly can't be in any classroom!
That would be quite gross - imagine, instead of math, looking at your teacher and her boyfriend going at it.... especially with how the average female teacher looks like. Eeeeewww!
Actually it appears DeMint wouldn't have a problem with teachers who get drunk and go home with a random guy every night. So long as there's no genderfriend relationship it's cool.
Actually DeMint is a crazy fuck. The problem is not teachers having sex with boyfriends or one-night stands. The problem is COMPULSORY EDUCATION. The problem is TAX-FED LEECHES who pretend they teach.
After getting swatted out of Congress in 2006, the GOP indulged in a similar bout of self-delusion, claiming it was corruption, sex scandals, and deficits that voters were angry with them over, rather than that insignificant Iraq War business.

The only truth spoken in the 2008 presidential race was when McCain said we'd be in Iraq for a long long time to come. Obama has done nothing to prove him wrong.
They said if I voted for McCain the war in Iraq would continue, and that the war in Afghanistan will escalate!!!
(actually, I didn't vote for McCain, but its a great line)
With a tea-party-like Congress, I think he'd do OK. With a bunch of moderates who want to compromise and "get things done", I think he'd be pretty bad. He has no real limited government principles.
"Just in case you weren't sufficiently depressed."
No need to be depressed. The real message is that just about anyone could beat BO. A meaningless poll at this point. Also, MSNBC wouldn't mind either Huckabee or Romney if an R has to win although it would complain endlessly about either.
Huckabee is a nanny state supporter and Romney is just another NE liberal establishment weakling. Neither will vigorously pursue a limited gov't agenda.

And came back, unfortunately.

Or at least stop tonguing Obama's scrotum
Really? An NYT column wherein the author is incapable of understanding any course of action that doesn't agree with his (sizable) assumptions about the world? Sound the alarm! Batten down...

Top 10 Craziest Tea Party Quotes of All time
Posted by Devona Walker on @ 10:22 amArticle printed from speakeasy: http://blogs.alternet.org/speakeasyURL to article: http://blogs.alternet.org/spea.....-all-time/
In this straight up nutty political climate, elected officials and candidates sometimes say the darndest things.
Michele Bachmann of Minnesota has called for investigating Democrats for being un-American
Remember that old show, "Children say the darndest things?" In this political climate, largely fueled by the tea party movement and a host of "not-ready-for-prime-time" hopefuls for elected office, that show could easily be revamped. There are obviously quite a few people out in America who are angry, afraid and "want their country back." I don't know exactly why they think it's been taken from them, but what is clear is that they believe somehow that intellectualism and minorities are to blame.
As a result, their chosen candidates are about as dumb and white as they come. Here's a list of some of the craziest things the tea party candidates have come up with. They range from such deep thinkers as Delaware Senatorial candidate Christine "I am not a witch" O'Donnell to New York Gubernatorial candidate Carl "imprison welfare recipients" Paladino. Read, enjoy. But most importantly vote! Things may be bad now, but can you imagine how much worse they will be if these idiots get elected, or in some cases re-elected.
1.) "It is not enough to be abstinent with other people, you also have to be abstinent alone. The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery, so you can't masturbate without lust," Christine O'Donnell, R- candidate for Senate.
O'Donnell is the tea party-backed candidate seeking to replace Vice President Joe Biden in Delaware. She made the above statements on one of many appearances on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect. She also stated on that show that she had dabbled in witchcraft before turning to Christianity. Since then, O'Donnell has basically gone radio silent refusing all media appearances other than Fox News.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.) "Gay marriage is probably the biggest issue that will impact our state and our nation in the last, at least, thirty years. I am not understating that," Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn.
Bachmann said that back in 2004 while on the stump to deny gay marriage in her home state of Minnesota. Back then, she was a State Senator. Bachmann was elected by the good people of Minnesota to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006. Since then, she has continued on her narrow-minded tirade, claiming that "Democrats in Congress" needed to be investigated for being un-American and that all Congress should do ? once the Republicans reclaim the majority ? is send out subpoena after subpoena and investigate the Obama administration.
3.) "He has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity," said Rep. Trent Franks about Obama.
Franks is an Arizona Congressman and said that last week during a conservative "values" forum. He also shortly later demanded that President Obama provide his birth certificate. When he was grilled by the media for making such an outlandish statement, his spokespeople claimed Franks was referring to "unborn" humanity and was speaking about Obama's stance on abortion. Yeah, right.
4.) "The exact phrase 'separation of Church and State' came out of Adolph Hitler's mouth, that's where it comes from. So the next time your liberal friends talk about the separation of Church and State, ask them why they're Nazis." Glen Urquhart said.
He's another tea party-backed candidate up in Delaware. He falsely claims "separation of church and state" was not in President Thomas Jefferson's 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association. He said that last April. This guy also compared abortion to slavery. He's a real gem.
5.) "I have been in the situation of counseling young girls? who have had very at risk, difficult pregnancies. And my counsel was to look for some alternatives, which they did. And they found that they had made what was really a lemon situation into lemonade," said tea party-backed candidate Sharron Angle on abortion and why it should be illegal even in the case of rape or incest.
This woman also believes we should get rid of the Veteran's Administration and said essentially that big government equates Godlessness, because Americans then look to the government to provide from them as opposed to God. Sad thing is, she's tied with Sen. Harry Reid down in Nevada.
6.) "These are beautiful properties with basketball courts, bathroom facilities, toilet facilities. Many young people would love to get the hell out of the cities," said Carl Paladino, New York State tea party-backed candidate for Governor. He was describing his idea to transform prisons into dorms for welfare recipients.
Paladino has a knack for making headlines for being, well unhinged. He threatened the life of a reporter while on camera. He also sent out a bunch of racist and pornographic emails to hundreds of political and media contacts. He's running against New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
7.) "You'd have to strike any laws against beastiality, if you're oriented toward corpses, toward children, there are kinds of perversions," said Rep. Louie Gohmert on why there should not be hate crime legislation.
This Texas Republican said that back in May. He's also the same guy who claims that immigrant infants pose a risk to national security as they will one day create terrorist cells.
8.) "The greatest threat to America is not necessarily a recession or even another terrorist attack," said Rep. Lamar Smith, another Texas Republican.
He said that back in June to Fox News. But if the media is so liberal, then what is Fox News? What is NewsCorp?
9.) "I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out." ? Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle.
That is the second entry by Angle, because she's just that crazy. She said that back in June. She also told Fox News the media should only report the news political candidates want them to report.
10.) "We took the Bible and prayer out of public schools, and now we're having weekly shootings practically. We had the 60s sexual revolution, and now people are dying of AIDS." ? Christine O'Donnell, during a 1998 appearance on Bill Maher's 'Politically Incorrect.
That is a second entry for O'Donnell because she too is just that crazy. And here's a third because in fact she's crazier.
"Well, I don't think that the Obama administration knows what's Jesus, what belongs to Jesus and what belongs to them. That's my big gripe. Apparently, he doesn't know. But then, that's because he's not a Christian. He's Muslim," O'Donnell said last November.
"It's a proven fact he's Muslim. He wasn't born in this country. He was born in Kenya. There are people who know it, people who know where the birth certificate is. It's locked up and our government can't get a hold of it. He's a illegitimate president, in my estimation."
Nice, huh? How much do you have to really despise this country to elect this class of idiots into office?
It's intriguing how whoever wrote that lumps all of those things together as "crazy". Like, Second Amendment rights are just as crazy as hating on teh gays! Who knew?
If only a writer at Reason would make a blog post that takes down this kind of bubblicious thinking...
"He has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity," said Rep. Trent Franks about Obama.
Considering that Obama still has troops in Afghanistan and sent even more to kill and maim, sends Predator drones to kill innocents, wants to assassinate American citizens without trial, is destroying the economy of one of the wealthiest countries in the world, is deporting more "illegals" [i.e. working people with families] than Bush, wants people's energy bills to "necessarily skyrocket", wants you and me to be poorer, and downright lies to everybody, then YES, I agree with what Rep Frank says: The guy IS an enemy of humanity.
realizing that the political juice fueling this revolt has much more to do with fiscal conservatism than Terri Schiavo.
Not gonna happen. It is essential to their identities that they be able to look down on anyone who isn't a member of their club. That's easy to do as long as people who disagree with them on any issue can be regarded as ignorant, bigoted rubes.
As long as all opposition to their vision of the Total State is rooted in ignorance and bigotry, it can be dismissed out of hand, without having to actually engage with facts and ideas, and (most importantly) without shaking their worldview.
A worldview which places their own precious selves at the absolute pinnacle, of course.
What I would like to ask Mr. Kristof is: how does he believe Obama is different from Bush?
Bush - largest unfunded expansion of a social program (Medicare drug benefit) until Obama care.
Bush - war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama (supposedly much smarter than Bush, continues the war without even the pretense of weapons of mass destruction, or that it will somehow make us safer...this is an improvement???)
Bush - appoints wall street insiders of the banks, by the banks, for the banks. Obama appoints wall steet lapdogs like Bernanke and Geithner to assure that US policy continues to be of the banks, by the banks, for the banks.
Bush - didn't really believe in small gubermint, or profit and LOSS. Obama...uh, exactly the same.
Bush - believes in affrimative action for the bankers who were too stupid, or too venal, or too stupid and venal, to endure what is known in free enterprize as a "loss." Obama, whether he believes that or not (isn't it worse if you do that but don't believe it???) does the same thing.
If Kristof and his ilk genuinely seek understanding of what happened Tuesday, it would start with entertaining at least limited self-doubt about their economic-policy assumptions, and realizing that the political juice fueling this revolt has much more to do with fiscal conservatism than Terri Schiavo.
Maybe you are looking at this all wrong Matt...if this "Ilk" are simply wrong does it not mean that your competition is getting the story wrong? And if they are consistently getting the story wrong then doesn't that help you sell Magazines that are getting the story right?
Good old Mr. Obama
got some electoral trauma.
His party had tried
but failed to provide
free health care for your dear mama.
His policies are quite horrendous.
His deficits, rather tremendous.
He's blind to to truth
but those in the booth
tried to help him to mend this.
Probably now he'll keep going
oblivious to what polls are showing.
He'll punch and he'll fight
against those on the right
while the money just goes on flowing.
Oh my. Well, I didn't realize the new GOP was going to outlaw single women fucking and teaching at the same time. Oh no.
I'm so lost and confused; my moral compass is spending out of control!
It's tragic enough that professional athletes aren't fulfilling their moral obligations as role models for the children, but now the adults can't count on the moral guidance from members of Congress. This is just awful.
"Funny thing about that DeMint op-ed: Nowhere does he mention gay people, premarital sex, or anything at all having to do with social conservatism."
Yep--classic non-sequiter right there.
Kristof's argument stems from the contention that Obama kept the economy from sliding into Depression. He's wrong, as anyone who has looked at the data can see that we are in one and never left, but it flatters him to believe that somehow Armageddon was completely averted instead of merely delayed.
Mr. DeMint later clarified that this is an issue best left for local school boards. But I think most Americans seek a moral leadership that isn't about wagging fingers at women who have sex with boyfriends. The moral imperative [???] should be getting [getting?] Americans jobs, decent schools [decent?], access to doctors [access?] and a measure of opportunity ["measure" as in "modicum" or as in "55 GAL barrel"?].
Which tells me Kristoff has a very twisted concept of morality also.
Access to doctors? Why, is that like having access to Lohan? Or Britney?

failing to give him credit for averting another Great Depression
Bare assertion.
It's puzzling ? candidate Obama could be so inspiring and eloquent, while President Obama has been flat.
Hope and change, hope and change, hope and change, yes we can, hope and change.
Yes. The most inspiring guy EVAR.
Please, Mr. Obama! The prose needn't be as dry as the Harvard Law Review.
A publication Obama never actually wrote for.
If Mr. Obama is going to connect with voters, he must confront the economic crisis emotionally as well as intellectually.
Try "I feel your pain." Seriously. It works.
But Roosevelt learned his lessons and won two more presidential elections after that, cementing his place in history. By claiming to be the anti-war President, then rearming the country. In election 4, he was Mr. Win-the-War. A finer political harlot has yet to be seen in America.
Mr. Obama has a far better product to sell than Tea Partiers like Mr. DeMint. But Mr. Obama needs to connect better with American voters.
"Why, oh why, won't the proletariat see that fearless leader knows what's best for them? Now he'll to engage in such dreadful and common political battling that is obviously beneath his dignity and class."
By claiming to be the anti-war President, then rearming the country. In election 4, he was Mr. Win-the-War. A finer political harlot has yet to be seen in America.

Are we talking about FDR or President Woodrow "He kept us out of the war" Wilson here?
Are we talking about FDR or President Woodrow "He kept us out of the war" Wilson here?
No President sucked like Wilson sucked.
I forgot about President Schoolmaster, mostly out of conscious effort. FDR had a longer reign, but old Woodrow was the godfather of the imperial Presidency.
"My feeling is that the country has gone too far on blaming its economic distress on Mr. Obama, failing to give him credit for averting another Great Depression among other achievements."
I have heard so many leftists such as Bill Maher say exactly the same thing that I think this claim has sort of taken on the character of monks chanting their articles of faith.
It is if they think repetition will constitute proof that everyone else should acknowledge.
I would have more sympathy for the argument that vast amounts of Americans were concerned about the debt, deficit, and size of government, if so many of them weren't opposed to cuts in SS, Medicare, or Defense spending.
Electing Republicans who are likely to increase funding of at least two of those items, will not reduce spending, constrain government or restore liberty.
I would have more sympathy for the argument that vast amounts of Americans were concerned about the debt, deficit, and size of government, if so many of them weren't opposed to cuts in SS, Medicare, or Defense spending.
Politically, cutting SS or Medicare is impossible.
The only feasible method of cutting Medicare and SS is to enact a provision stating that persons born after December 31, 2011 will be ineligible for Medicare or Social Security (retirement). Current voters will be unaffected, and thus will not vote against someone based on such legislation.
We could start raising eligibility one month per year. And start doing really half-assed means testing (like say if you have over 50K a year in other income you get 10% less SS benefits).
Kristof doesn't specify where in rural Oregon he's from. That covers a wide array of places. In the Coast Range and on the coast, you have lots of hippies and unemployed loggers who already specialize in sponging off the rest of us. Eastern Oregon is cowboy country, where people specialize in being left alone. I have a hard time believing that Comrade Kristof hails from the high lonesome in the eastern part of the state, but I guess you never know.
Yamhill is close enough to be a bedroom community for Portlanders. It's seen a lot of growth in Portlanders putting up big, secluded houses. It's not the big city, but it's also not quite what the average person thinks of as "rural."
Kristof's point isn't particularly dependent on that, but Yamhill isn't far enough removed from the People's Republic of Portland to fall into a "What's Wrong With Kansas" analogy.
Saving the American auto industry, which has been a huge drag on Obama's political capital, is a monumental achievement that few appreciate, unless you live in Michigan. After getting their taxpayer lifeline from Obama, both General Motors and Chrysler are now making money by making cars. New plants are even scheduled to open. More than 1 million jobs would have disappeared had the domestic auto sector been liquidated.
"An apology is due Barack Obama," wrote The Economist, which had opposed the $86 billion auto bailout. As for Government Motors: after emerging from bankruptcy, it will go public with a new stock offering in just a few weeks, and the United States government, with its 60 percent share of common stock, stands to make a profit. Yes, an industry was saved, and the government will probably make money on the deal ? one of Obama's signature economic successes.
GM is not even close to being saved, and our $86 billion baillout (and climbing, with interest) will never be repaid. GM needs to get at least $60-70 per share on its IPO to break even and analysts are saying it won't even break $50. This is before the Volt boondoggle finally kills GM.

Actually DeMint is a crazy fuck. The problem is not teachers having sex with boyfriends or one-night stands. The problem is COMPULSORY EDUCATION. The problem is TAX-FED LEECHES who pretend they teach.
Those are my favorite kind of teachers
If the Alvin Greene porn story is true, he's probably in favor of sex in classrooms. That might be how he picked up 28% of the vote.
But that wouldn't get you fired from your job if you're a New Jersey union member with tenure. Unless your boyfriend is a student.
After getting swatted out of Congress in 2006, the GOP indulged in a similar bout of self-delusion, claiming it was corruption, sex scandals, and deficits that voters were angry with them over, rather than that insignificant Iraq War business.
The war in Iraq seems to be wrapping up now.
Really?
I heard that. I just haven't seen it yet.
From MSNBC:
In a hypothetical 2012 matchup, Huckabee leads Obama 52 - 44 percent, while Romney has a 50-45 point advantage,
Just in case you weren't sufficiently depressed.
I wouldn't be surprised if none of those three was actually a major party nominee in 2012.
Unless there is 20% unemployment, Obama will be the Team Blue nominee.
You know, in America, Barack could get shot going to the store.
Good thing he's going to India then.
He said he'd rather be a good one-term president than a bad two-term president.
Looks like he may not make either of those options.
Well, he hasn't been a good one-term president, so that should free him up to run for a second term while still being honest.
Also, we all know that it doesn't matter what Obama said because he's a liar.
I should mention that I don't think Romney would be a bad president relative to the other likely options (ie, not Ron Paul or Gary Johnson).
With a tea-party-like Congress, I think he'd do OK. With a bunch of moderates who want to compromise and "get things done", I think he'd be pretty bad. He has no real limited government principles.
I wasn't sufficiently depressed, but that did the trick. Thanks
My point was not that Obama could be beaten. It was that Huckabee and Romney were the two leading candidates to replace him
"It was that Huckabee and Romney were the two leading candidates to replace him"
According to the myopic conventional wisdom of unoriginal herd beasts.

Top 10 Craziest Tea Party Quotes of All time

Who knew?

""The greatest threat to America is not necessarily a recession or even another terrorist attack," said Rep. Lamar Smith, another Texas Republican."
Ummmmm, is there something missing from this?? Not seeing the craaaaaziness on that one.
Indeed, in light of most of the apocalyptic statements out of Washington, that one strikes me as downright reasonable.
Depending on context, even, I think that environmentalists would agree with it. Guess Max has outed himself as one of those "deniers," then.
Re: Max,
Considering that Obama still has troops in Afghanistan and sent even more to kill and maim, sends Predator drones to kill innocents, wants to assassinate American citizens without trial, is destroying the economy of one of the wealthiest countries in the world, is deporting more "illegals" [i.e. working people with families] than Bush, wants people's energy bills to "necessarily skyrocket", wants you and me to be poorer, and downright lies to everybody, then YES, I agree with what Rep Frank says: The guy IS an enemy of humanity.
Well let's see.
Do any of the people on that list believe in anything that could even remotely be described as liberalism?
No?
Then that means none of them are anywhere near as crazy as every person alive on the planet who does.
Yet in many cases, a majority of voters still found "this class of idiots" perferable to Democrats.
The world is round because it is the back of a giant turtle swimming in a huge sea. Where that sea is, no one knows.

Many thanks to Tony for proving my point, in spades. No racism.
And he demonstrated that belief before being elected.

His policies are quite horrendous.
His deficits, rather tremendous.

I'm so lost and confused; my moral compass is spending out of control!
It's tragic enough that professional athletes aren't fulfilling their moral obligations as role models for the children, but now the adults can't count on the moral guidance from members of Congress. This is just awful.
I think even DeMint would have to make an exception for sex ed.
Fuck youtube for making my sign up to watch
"Funny thing about that DeMint op-ed: Nowhere does he mention gay people, premarital sex, or anything at all having to do with social conservatism."
Yep--classic non-sequiter right there.
Kristof's argument stems from the contention that Obama kept the economy from sliding into Depression. He's wrong, as anyone who has looked at the data can see that we are in one and never left, but it flatters him to believe that somehow Armageddon was completely averted instead of merely delayed.
Which tells me Kristoff has a very twisted concept of morality also.
Access to doctors? Why, is that like having access to Lohan? Or Britney?

Hideki Tojo had a lot to do with that.
we were arming europe and building up ourselves well before Tojo did anything.
"It's puzzling ? candidate Obama could be so inspiring and eloquent, while President Obama has been flat."
Well, you're saying the president is really good at running? What are you insinuating?
Are we talking about FDR or President Woodrow "He kept us out of the war" Wilson here?
No President sucked like Wilson sucked.
I't kind of pathetic really.
That's how labor unions do it.
He grew up in Yamhill which ain't on my map. Where is it?
A little bit outside of Portland, and not in a Lost kind of way. Fairly granola.

Speaking of the bottomless barrel of stupid which is the New York Times, don't miss this rambling love poem:
How Obama Saved Capitalism and Lost the Midterms
A sample:
Egads that article is an enormous pile of stupid.
"Saving the American auto industry"?????
GM is not even close to being saved, and our $86 billion baillout (and climbing, with interest) will never be repaid. GM needs to get at least $60-70 per share on its IPO to break even and analysts are saying it won't even break $50. This is before the Volt boondoggle finally kills GM.
What a joke.
Plus GM and Chrysler are not equal to the "auto industry".
There would still be Ford, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, etc. etc.
Shorter Kristoff:
Bush bailed out the banks so he had to go. Whereas Obama saved us from the depression by bailing out the banks.
