I would comment, but a police officer might read it, and I'm told that one should never talk to the police.

  2. ZungTee   15 years ago

LOL, Is there any such thing as a good cop? I mean seriously.

    1. Graham Wellington   15 years ago

      Oh! Swing and a miss!

  3. Kevin   15 years ago

I would like to buy that cop a beer.

    1. Nick   15 years ago

I've not violated anyone's rights today. You gonna buy me a beer, too?

      1. anarch   15 years ago

"You know the worst thing about niggas? Niggas always want credit for some shit they supposed to do. A nigga will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A nigga will say some shit like, "I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker! What kind of ignorant shit is that? "I ain't never been to jail!" What do you want, a cookie?! You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having motherfucker!" ~ Chris Rock

        1. Colonel_Angus   15 years ago

I was reading that in the voice of the old man from the boondocks.

  4. hmm   15 years ago

Nice to see, still doesn't mitigate the vast number of incidents where cops act poorly and the lack of outcry from the police at large.

  5. billy-jay   15 years ago

Just wondering. That guy has one stripe on his collar and looks pretty young. There's still a chance he gets corrupted or chased out of police work.

  6. billy-jay   15 years ago

    Still, good for that guy.

  7. Caleb Turberville   15 years ago

What the hell is the name of that town?!

    1. Colonel_Angus   15 years ago

Effingham. Other towns up 57: Homewood (homowood), Peotone (peeaton), Kankakee (KKK), Rantoul (man's tool), Mattoon (spittoon).

  8. Fist of Etiquette   15 years ago

The bar is low, but that was still praiseworthy.

    F'ing Ham ?

  10. JW   15 years ago

    Cops?

  11. Haystack   15 years ago

    Give me back my needle!

  12. kiwi dave   15 years ago

reminds me of this Onion article:

    http://www.theonion.com/articl.....eing,1477/

  13. Tommy_Grand   15 years ago

I'm pretty sure it's Effingham. I stoppped there on my way to Chicago once - because the name is funny.

  14. bruno   15 years ago

    Nice job, ISP trooper.

  15. GoNavy   15 years ago

BZ to the cop in the video.

Most cops probably try to do a good job. If only 2% of the cops are bad, it is still the "good" cops to blame. The bad cops only exist because the good cops protect them. Thin blue line and all that crap.

    1. R C Dean   15 years ago

The bad cops only exist because the good cops protect them.

So, why do we call cops who protect bad cops "good" cops, again?

      1. hmm   15 years ago

That's my point and it really pisses off my friends that are officers.

      2. GoNavy   15 years ago

You did notice the scare quotes around "good"?

  16. Tommy_Grand   15 years ago

Navy, there are lots of good cops. But your hypothetical guestimate of 2% = bad is way, way low I'm sorry to say.

    1. GoNavy   15 years ago

I just made up the number. I am sure it varies greatly.

  17. Tommy_Grand   15 years ago

But your other (main) point has validity.

  18. sloopyinca   15 years ago

Holly Hunter says, "Elliot Nesch brought down Al Capone."

  19. Lurker Kurt   15 years ago

    Holy crap!

That happened in my hometown, Effingham Illinois.

Double Holy crap!! That ISP trooper is my ex-brother in law!!!

He does have a baby face, but rest assured, he has been a state trooper for about 10 years.

  20. sloopyinca   15 years ago

I wonder what kind of reception from the police they get when they try to wear those veils (for lack of a better word) when they protest outside of the White House or the Capitol. You know, "National Security" and all that bullshit.

  21. Azathoth   15 years ago

    Nice to see.

Funny thing I've noticed, though. There's a lot of articles about bad cops--and this is coupled with a general distrust of all cops based on the actions of the bad cops.

And, generally, no one seems to have a problem with this.

But, when someone indicates that they have a general distrust or wariness about Muslims, based on the actions of bad Muslims, that person is called a bigot.

And, generally, no one seems to have a problem with that.

I just thought that was interesting.

    1. aix42   15 years ago

Muslims are a large, diverse religious group that work in a wide range of professions. Police have guns and the power of the state behind them.

You could suspect and stear clear of all Muslims just in case they are going to blow themselves up. You cannot avoid the Police, they could shoot you for running away.

    2. John Sabotta   15 years ago

      You're an idiot, Azathoth.

      And, pretty obviously, a cop.

  22. Mike in PA   15 years ago

Just don't pull that shit at night! Darkness brings out the evil in cops!

  23. D330   15 years ago

All well and good. However, there are countless instances in which officers demonstrate "how to be a good cop" which are not so flowery. Sometimes, "being a good cop" isn't a pretty thing to behold. Just sayin...

    1. anarch   15 years ago

Anymore than surgery is pretty to behold. But it only superficially resembles its opposite, namely torture.

  24. Patrick   15 years ago

He seemed like a cool guy and a good cop. Wish there were more like him.

  25. Colonel_Angus   15 years ago

He still had the condescending cop tone. And the cop shades. Screw him.

  26. ????? ??????   13 years ago

    Thanks
