Reported assassination attempt on Iran President Ahmadinejad.
"Missed it by that much."
I doubt the real Zionists would have made such a poor showing.

Bloomberg is right about something for a change. I still loathe the asshat but I gotta give credit where it is due.
So he now respects private property rights?
He does when he can score political points with liberal New Yorkers.
liberal New Yorkers
Most of the "liberal" New Yorkers I've seen interviewed are outraged at the prospect of a Muslim presence so close to "hallowed ground."
Stopped clock and all that.

So, you think Bloomberg is right, John? Seems to be a 180 for you.
1. I am not John, he is not me.
2. I have been quite consistent on my view of property rights for many years.
3. If you could manage to stop being an insufferable, stalking troll ala MNG, you might have noticed one and two above.
No he doesn't. If this were anything but a PC protected group, Bloomburg wouldn't give a shit.
McAfee or Norton?
Did Bloomberg oppose the construction of other houses of worship that I'm not aware of?
No, but he favored fucking over other private property owners who stood in the way of a pet project.
He has never defended private property rights in his entire life. You will never convince me that if this were anything but a Mosque, he would have any problem with fucking them over. That is what he does. And even if it were a Mosque, it would still be screwed if it stood in the way of a football stadium or a Columbia expansion. It only gets a pass because it is near the 9-11 site and letting them build is a good way to stick it to the bubbas.
Bloomburg is the biggest piece of shit in the sewer that is American politics. Other houses of worship my ass.
How is this "sticking it to the bubbas" and why would Bloomberg go so out of his way to do o?
A lot of people are pissed off by there being a mosque so near the 9-11 site. But that is certainly not the liberal non bubba view. And Bloomburg went out of his way because it is a total blue team versus red team culture thing.
So really, you're saying that Bloomberg is not only a RINO, but is a totally active Team Blue in Team Red clothing player? That he actively seeks out opportunities to fuck with Team Red? That's some paranoid shit, brother.
They could call it the City Hall Mosque. I wonder why they didn't?
Why should Bloomberg give two shits about what people outside of NYC think? He's not the mayor of Albany, Boise, Wasilla or Richmond. His only concern should be with what people in the area think. The local community board supports it*, the people of the borough support it. What people upstate or out of state think is irrelevant.
Why don't you concern yourself with what gets built in the city you live in and leave people in other cities alone? I promise that if someone in your city decides to build a temple dedicated to the Sun God Ra, I won't make a peep about it.
* A requirement that is frankly, b.s.
I promise that if someone in your city decides to build a temple dedicated to the Sun God Ra, I won't make a peep about it.
I would! That would render my lifetime hajj to Heliopolis totally moot.
Don't worry. Ra will be pleased that you went to his ancestral home and give you a choice spot on the solar boat. All of this assumes that you are properly embalmed and mummified.
Why should Bloomberg give two shits about what people outside of NYC think?
There are national political offices to run for in the future.
I think it only went before the community board because they want to raze a historical building...? Which may or may not be BS but just to clarify I don't think the CB would ahve any say under ordinary circumstances.
We'll just see what Bloomberg says once he finds out the mosque will be built exclusively out of salt and transfats.
I am so using that!
...and severed infidel heads. Ha! Trying using that, Jay.
Who are you and what have you done with the real mayor?
Prepare for 400+ comments.

What's The Matter With Obama?
Is that like preperation H?
It was all those damn rich, white voters. Racists.
So does this sort of thing qualify as nullification? It seems like it might.
I've heard some talk of nullification and such.
First Arizona, then Virginia, now Missouri; the country is starting to quietly but openly go into revolt against this vile dictatorial administration, and I love it!
Three messed-up states, man.
They call it "Misery" for a reason.
I don't know much about Missouri and Arizona, but Virginia is actually one of the best-run states in the country, and has been for a while.
Budget gap wise MO isn't too bad, better than the other two states listed with it above. Tax wise we are up there with the other higher tax (municiple/state) states. Over all management, we have our moments.
Actually, I'm not at all familiar with Virginia -- it's attraction to me seems to be Washington, DC and Civil War history.
Arizona is definitely tits-up for the natural environment.
8-10 Taliban fighters killed in attack on IASF base, but they did manage to destroy $70 worth of fence.
Suicide bombers to open breaches in fences. You have to be one stupid son of a bitch to take that job.
Tell me about it. These virgins are fugly!
Do you want quality or quantity?
Why do you think I told you guys to put bags on all their heads?
The fugly ones are the best ... they really feel the pressure of loneliness so they try harder. They'll do just about anything! Definitely get yourself some fugly girls...
Cash Money and Marvelous agree with you.

The most amazing thing about the shootings? None of the articles *I* saw referred to an "assault rifle".
Well, since he used a handgun and all...
But yeah, I know what you mean.
If you really want to assault someone, use a shotgun.
but he did assault people with a weapon. and all those people would be alive if he was simply allowed to take a few cases of beer home with him. and not forced to resign. and.
ObamaCare: The Infinite Bureaucracy Act
Check out the graph.
Left foot red!
*spin*
Here's a bigger version of the graph in the article.
Makes me glad The Smart People are in charge. Me to stupid too read chart. Me need MNG help. He smart. He understand.
This is what defeated HilaryCare back in the early 90s, the release of the graph signaled the beginning of the end.
Would have been nice to have this before the vote.
robc, we had to deny you this because you'd just use it to justify your racism in opposing Obamacare, which is wonderful, beautiful, loving, generous, compassionate, and a horrible thing to tag Obama with so never use that term.
charts and graphs are probably among the most racist ways to impart information.
...what with all those colors being unequal.
You know what's racist? The fact that the number of charges filed against Charlie Rangle is thirteen.
Thirteen is also the number of loops in a hangman's noose. Coincidence?
And 13 is One and Three. One God. Three in the Trinity. One plus Three is Four. Four horsemen riding to the Apocalypse. Two times Four is Eight. There are Eight letters in Thirteen. Eight and Thirteen are Twenty One. Coming of age... legal to drink - temptations of the flesh become real. Two and One - Twenty One. One Prophet. One on the cross. Two and One are Three. Three in one are the Trinity. We all know the Truth! The White Devil would hide the Truth, but the scales have been removed from our eyes so that we can see! Two eyes on one face - Two and One - God in man - Two and One make Three. Three in the Trinity. The White Devil's Trinity. One True God, revealed by the Prophet. All glory to God.
RACIST!!!
We had to pass the bill in order to see what the chart would look like.
umm, I seem to remember some Republican or other showing this chart or a very similar one on the House or Senate floor - watched it on CSPAN - so it was out there well before the vote. Anyone else remember seeing this?
The Powerpoint team at Microsoft is drooling over the potential new market for org charts and bullet lists.
Meh. They left out Proposition C.
What's amazing is that people are attempting to deflect criticism based on this with "well, the Congressional Research Service says there's no way to know how many bureaucracies are being created, so it's silly to criticize the law based on flowcharts".
Hold up, you're defending the law because nobody knows how to implement it?
I'm having full-size versions printed in color for hospital administration.
This is what defeated HilaryCare back in the early 90s, the release of the graph signaled the beginning of the end.
That presentation actually triggered my long journey toward cranky libertarianism.
Try as much as you like to deny it, but everybody loves Baby Hitler.
I have to admit he looks really cute in that painting.
Cuter than this?
No, baby Idi Amin is adorable.
Ain't that the e-trade kid?
I'd find an immense if perverse joy in seeing the e-trade baby rant about lebensraum.

I think so. I can't imagine a comics character it's supposed to be and the artist is Italian.
He really should have done some Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham paintings.
Probably SFW source
WTF? That's about as offensive as they come. Spider-Man is Marvel and Batman is DC Comics.
Blasphemy! We should hang the infidel!!! Oh wait, it's a picture with the Virgin Mary. Nothing to see. Carry on.
It's a little hard to parody classic Islamic paintings.
Actually there's a much better Baby Hitler/or Baby Jesus? painting hanging in the Denver Museum of Art. It's actually quite powerful.
The Helnwein painting in Denver is huge, by the way, something like 7 feet by 11 feet. I suppose that adds to the power.
BP says oil leak is finally plugged;

Doesn't this count as a loss?

Omar Thornton, pistol permit holder.
Somehow, his pistol permit and gun will be held responsible for his rampage.
More "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs would have prevented this.
They are also trying to pin the blame on the "racist white bastards" he had to shoot.

Bloomberg is right about something for a change.
He's on the lawfully correct side of it, presumably, but he's not right to pretend this is about separation of church and state, or about property rights, when the anti- side's central (and non-legal, and right) point is "These assholes are doing an asshole thing."
But sides sort by whom, not by what. People find another reason to oppose the people they already oppose. Open foes of Islam are Bad Crackers, and Good Whiteys oppose them. Later, arguments are invented. And they're bullshit.
+ infinity.
Why is this "an asshole thing"?
Would you support and encourage me if I decide to picket a local mosque with a sign saying "Prophet Muhammad is a Pedophile"? I have a first amendment right to do it. Or would you kindly give me a hint that this is "an asshole thing" to do? Doing something that pisses off lots of people is "an asshole thing."
Yeah, but if you put up that sign, you'd be "our kind of asshole."
1. Answer my question.
2. I would support your right to do it AND call you an asshole.
3. I'm not sure what your example has to do with a group of Muslims who had never ever had any sort of contact with the 19 hijackers wanting to turn their current house of worship in an old Burlington Coat Factory into a much nicer community center, almost exactly in the mold of a YMCA.
4. Why does this piss lots of people off?
5. Who is it pissing off?
It is an asshole thing because building a big mosque close to the WTC pisses off a lot of people in this country. You may disagree with the opinion of these people but they are still pissed off. 9/11 was perpetrated in the name of Islam. If I were a Muslim and wanted to convince Americans that Islam had nothing to do with 9/11 I wouldn't build a mosque next to the ground zero. But it's just me, I hate to be an asshole.
So by admitting that one is angered by this, one is admitting to accusing all of Islam of being complicit, all 1 billion of them, including the ones who have lived in NYC for generations, and including the ones who died in the attacks?
So every Muslim was complicit?
Yes, I'm sure that's a totally dispassionate and free-of-bias hypothetical.
Let me put this way. An estranged relative of yours murders a person. You obviously cannot be blamed for the murder. Is it a good idea for you to attend the funeral if your presence will remind the friends and relatives of the victim of the murderer? Your decision to attend will put a burden on the grieving family since they'll be forced to extend tolerance towards you.
1. Cannot you attend anonymously? I've been to a lot of funerals, and if you didn't want yourself to be known, you could easily accomplish that.
2. This sort of thing happens more than you think (high-profile example was the high school coach who was killed by a former player, featured at the ESPYs; the killer's family is a HUGE part of the lives of the deceased's, and was from the word "go")
3. Comparing small family units to massive, international groups of like-faithed adherents is disingenuous and inapt. The Muslims of this congregation are not in any way related to the 19 hijackers, certainly no more than I (as a Christian [Lutheran]) am related to John Wayne Gacy, John Demjanjuk, Jeffrey Dahmer, or Slobodan Milosevic.
Uh...hate to break it to you, but you're being an asshole. Maybe they just want a place to worship their particular imaginary friend. Sorry you don't like him, but it has nothing to do with 9/11. They aren't required to convince anyone of anything.
If you have to ask, you're too big an asshole to ever be able to understand. Asshole.
Enlighten me, fuckface.
Let's see if this is simple enough for you to understand. I would have the same reaction if they decided to open concealed carry training center directly across the street from the beer distributor that just got shot up. They'd be within their rights to do it, but it would still be a dick move. You have to be either stupid or a dick yourself not to see that it is a dick move.
Actually, it sure would've been nice if some of those employees had been properly trained and allowed to carry at work...the shooting likely never would have happened.
It has nothing to do with Islam. If you could take off your team red blinders for a second, you'd see that libertarians support private property rights for everyone regardless of religious beliefs. If people don't want them to build a community center there, they should get some money together and offer to buy the place. Everyone has a price.
Why does this remind me of A Raisin in the Sun?
We are not talking about Libertarians. We are talking about Bloomburg. Yeah, Libertarians are consistent. Bloomburg is not. For him it is just about strutting around showing that he is a good whitey and sticking it to the bubbas. That is it.
What does this have to do with the "bubbas"? Why is this your meme of the day?
First, it is not a meme. If you want to have a discussion. But do so in a manner that doesn't toss insults. Second, read Mo's posts on this and you will see exactly what I am talking about. For people like Mo and Bloomburg, only racist crackers could possibly oppose this thing. That is why Bloomburg supports it. Because he feels like it is racist not to.
Who knows he may be right about that. But regardless, his support has nothing to do with property rights. He is still that same the fucking property grabbing authoritarian he always has been.
Reading comprehension dude, give it a shot. I said people who oppose Muslims for being Muslims are, to use ? term, "bad crackers". If this was just about the location, why are people protesting Mosques that are nowhere near World Trade? If you judge someone solely based on their religion, you're a bigot.
You just an asshole who won't read the posts or have a logical argument. I said that Bloomburg views those who oppose the Mosque are racists. I even said he may be right about that. Nothing in my statement contradicts or even concerns your point that people oppose mosques in other places. No shit?
The point is that Bloomburg is interested in this for the reasons you give not because he gives two shits about property rights. If those Muslim's mosque ran afoul of some nanny law or needed to be bulldozed so that some rich Bloomburg donor could build a new project, they would be screwed.
This thing is totally about red team versus blue team culture. And Bloomburg is blue team and his supporters are all blue team. That is why he is so impassioned about it. It has nothing to do with property rights or anything beyond Bloomburg wanting to show his Manhattan supporters what a good liberal he is.
Before you start throwing stones about other people's reading comprehension, you might want to read the posts your self and give some thought to the arguments that are being made. As it is you are doing a pretty piss poor job of it.
[citation needed]
What? Insults? Have a cup of coffee, Nancy. (Better?)
You still aren't explaining why Bloomberg would "stick it to bubba" in any meaningful way, and you certainly aren't offering anything like evidence of this motivation.
You really don't know NYC, do you? "Sticking it to the bubbas" is a great way of encapsulating the holier than thou attitude elitist that runs rampant among NYCers (Manhattanites in particular).
Because it doesn't go both ways. I thought those bubbas consider themselves "real Americans?" as opposed to coastal urbanites. City mouse, country mouse conflicts are as old as urbanization. People need to be a little bit less sensitive and mind their own business.
What do you mean it doesn't go both ways? You don't think "Sticking it to the elites" would be a great way of reasoning out much of the political posturing in Texas? Bloomberg is doing this solely to score political points. He couldn't give two shits about any underlying ideological consistency.
Oops, mistyped it should have said, "It goes both ways". Urbanites think they're better than their small town brethren and vice versa.
You're right that a lot of it is to score political points. His constituents are people in the city and he'll never get the POTUS nom, so why should he knuckle under to people from outside of the five boroughs?
Then why are there a number of alleged New Yorkers who are on "the Bubbas'" side?
Bloomberg doesn't need the vote of the NYC bubbas.
Bloomberg shouldn't knuckle under. He shouldn't be commended either. I don't have to agree with the reason for his choice to agree with his choice. He made the right choice. His reasons suck. He sux.
It is about separation of church and state. When the "asshole thing" is based solely on the religion of the people building it and they're asking the state to intervene, it is a church state issue no matter what bullshit reason they make up to oppose it. Especially because there's already a mosque less than half a mile away that's already overflowing with people and the current site is used to house overflow.
You're right though, people that oppose Muslims just for being Muslims are "bad crackers". Whether they're opposing the mosque in Lower Manhattan or other "sensitive" areas like Staten Island and Temecula. Just because bigots get sand in their vags over being called bigots doesn't mean they aren't bigots.
Shorter Mo. This is about Red team versus Blue team and I am on the blue team. Good for you. And so is Bloomburg. But don't blow smoke up people's ass by pretending that this has anything to do with property rights.
I know that cynicism toward politicians is what we generally display around here, but HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW HE'S NOT, for once, ACTUALLY STANDING UP FOR THE RIGHT THING? It's possible! Sometimes the assholes get it right.
lmk when he stands up for the "right thing" that's also politically unpopular among his voter base.
So he has to stand up for something "unpopular" before he can be considered to be acting genuinely? Seems that this is actually fairly unpopular despite the borough board's vote.
Chuck Schumer and Anthony Weiner aren't brave enough to come out in support of this.
http://voices.washingtonpost.c.....nd_ze.html
I'm not on a team. Though I would definitely say I'm culturally urban and coastal because that's where I spent almost all of my life. So opposing the building of mosques is a red team thing?
This is a property rights thing, pure and simple. Just because you view everything through the lens of KULTUR WAR!* doesn't mean everyone else does. If it was Scientologists building a stress test center or whatever they call their buildings, I would support their right to do it because they own the property. If they decided to try to buy a building from the church across the street from me, I wouldn't protest it because I don't care. I sure as hell wouldn't use their religion as a reason to try to prevent it from happening, even though Scientology is a fake religion. It's not my business that their religion is kooky and made up.
* Admittedly, the fact that I have many friends and family that are Muslims who oppose extremists and are very pro-America colors my view.
It may be a property rights thing for you. But you get the benefit of the doubt because as far as I know you haven't made a public career out of stealing. Bloomburg in contrast has. So he gets no such benefit.
But what has Nanny Bloomberg done to make you think that this is a culture war thing? His thing is telling people what they can eat and smoke or hooking up connected people. This involves neither of those things.
I live right next door to Temecula. It pains me to know that my area here in So Cal is a shining example of tolerance.
So he now respects private property rights?
Considering the fact that this project can only go forward after review by an agency specifically tasked with deciding whether or not people are making an "appropriate" use of their so-called private property, I'm going to just crawl out on my well-worn prognostication perch and say, "no."

What about very large bodies? How do we read the "public" sexuality of that part of the fat female body?
How, indeed?

LOL
The reason I've just now noticed the 'cameltoe issue' is that I've gained weight. The jeans used to be fine when they were a bit big, but now that they actually fit me in the waist they bunch up all in my crotch. So I've been thinking a lot about why I feel so insecure about this when it's not my body's fault, in truth, but the fault of some shittily designed seams.
Swimsuit bottoms are a whole other beast.
I think it's also an issue of the female body as currency, and of rape culture. When we're constantly told that some women are "asking for it," why are we then surprised to find that we're cautious of displaying evidence of our sexualized bodies?
Why did she leave out the Male Gaze?

It's my 2nd favorite catch-all phrase. The 1st is the one I came up with in a philosophy paper freshman year of college and worked into every single academic paper I ever wrote as a running joke.
"_________ is the only suitable punctuation for the long, rambling Joycean sentence that is the 20th century."
My freshman writing seminar instructor spent a very long time on the first day of class explaining to people who were there hoping to get into the class despite it already having been filled that there was a "hard cap" on the number of people in the class and that they shouldn't be there. The phrase was repeated so many times that it became hilarious among the students, and I worked it into every paper for that class. I'm not sure if the instructor noticed, but I got an A.
Nice.
Spandex is a privilege, not a right.
