Penn Jillette Explains It All at Bigthink.com

Great video interview with the great Penn Jillette over at BigThink.com. Among the topics covered in the near-hour-long Q&A:

Are Penn & Teller lovers? (No, but they are best friends or "more like guys who own a dry-cleaners together.")

Mistrust of government is a beautiful thing. (Self-evident, perhaps, but also cause for concern if these social scientists are right that it leads to calls for increased regulation by that very same untrusted government.)

Glenn Beck is nut - but I like him. (Do I smell an honorary degree from GBU in the offing?)

Why Penn doesn't drink or do drugs. (It wasn't those junior-high health class movies.)

How to raise an atheist family. (Every parent thinks he's doing everything perfectly until they wake up to the click of the shotgun barrel on their temple.)

Watch the whole thing here.

I saw this yesterday. Penn is now officially cooler than Lou Reed. He made a visit to BigThink sufferable. The Everest of douche is conquered!

This seems familiar to me somehow ?

I watched some segments yesterday. The usual good stuff from Penn, for the most part. I liked "Mistrust of Government is a Beautiful Thing" best, I think.

Your use of emoticons sickens me. Have you no class at all?

      1. Pro Libertate   15 years ago

That was supposed to be the Earth with a dagger through it.

        1. Episiarch   15 years ago

The principle is the same, Disgusto.

          1. Pro Libertate   15 years ago

Riiight, you wouldn't kill to have a Earth-with-a-dagger-through-it logo. Be honest with yourself, man!

the click of the shotgun barrel on their temple

Worst mixed metaphor ever. Or at least today.

beat me to it. Since when does metal make a clicking sound against flesh?

      1. BakedPenguin   15 years ago

When someone has a metal plate in their head?

        1. x,y   15 years ago

          on their head

  4. Warty   15 years ago

Did they ask him why he quit doing Penn Says? Lazy motherfucker, how dare you quit.

    1. Pro Libertate   15 years ago

I'm more perturbed that he didn't revive Penn Radio, which ruled. It's by far the best non-Teller activity he's been involved with.
