David Walker, president and CEO of the Peter G.Peterson Foundation and former U.S. Comptroller General of the United States, sat down with Reason.tv Editor in Chief Nick Gillespie to discuss the deteriorating financial condition of the federal government and what needs to be done to put the country on a more prudent and sustainable path.
Approximately 10 minutes. Shot by Dan Hayes and Alex Manning. Edited by Josh Swain.
This discussion was part of Reason Weekend, an annual conference held by Reason Foundation, the nonprofit that publishes Reason.tv. This year's event took place in New Orleans from April 15-18 in New Orleans.

Lemme guess:
We are irredeemably, irretrievably, fiscally fucked.
Theoretically, we are not quite at the point of no return. But it would require a generation of statesman in every elected office to turn the tide, and an electorate willing to bear the pain. Which ain't gonna happen. So we're fucked.
Even when it is all going down - hyperinflation or Greater-than-ever Depression, the pols will blame anybody but themselves. So will most of the people who want their "entitlements".
Only a huge technological breakthrough can save us, like cold fusion. In the meantime lets hope the economic implosion doesn't happen in our lifetimes.
Cliff notes --
Walker "Federal government should be in wellness and catastrophic only" - and the Bush Medicare Welfare Pharma plan is a fiscal black hole along with Medicare in general.
Won't sell to the Tea Party set.
Why do you say that Shrike?
Are you kidding? The average age of a Tea Party type is about 64. They're not anti-government at all - that is just an opportunistic ploy by libertarians and conservatives.
The TeaParty wants their Social Security and Medicare assured before befuddled Obama-ites under 40 figure out they are just Kafkaesque prisoners in a rigged actuarial game stacked against them.
You weren't supposed to notice that.
As opposed to those erudite types who use five dollar words like "Bushpig" in every sentence.
I haven't used "Bushpig" in at least two days. I do like the term though.
He is the shit stuck on your shoe anyway. I don't claim that miserable failure for a fucking thing.
We're into our second consecutive president who fits your parameters, shrike. And yet, you still long to lick his balls.
The average age of a Tea Party type is about 64.
Link?
I think you're falling for the MSM and Obama administrations attempts to paint them that way. (Witness Obama's mocking a sign he read saying something like, "Keep the government out of my Medicare". While I have no doubt there are those types out there, I seriously doubt they are the majority as you imply.
There should be a close paren, ")", after "...Medicare" above.

Where was the event?
The monopoly agency of force has a comptroller? Hilarious. If arsonists get together and form a guild, I hope they appoint a comptroller too.
"But aren't the people the problem?"
Excellent Gillespie. Excellent.
The problem with Peter G. Peterson is that he's a Council on Foreign Relations member, former head of Kuhn, Loeb and Company (a Rothschild-owned company) and former US Secretary of Commerce. He's a plutocrat preaching about the need for a free society, all the while propagating the very policies which keep us in in shackles.

Riiiight.
Now tell us about the link between the JFK assassination and 9/11.
It was Bill D. Berger what pulled the trigger.
Was he the fifth guy on the grassy knoll with Elvis' alien love child?
Are you that guy who used to sell the Krishna books at the San Diego airport?
"a Rothschild-owned company"
uh oh I think he means the jews...
This will take those under 30 to vote and to vote, vote often and to vote their pocketbook (and their future).
The last election was not terribly promising in this regard
That should read
"to vote, to vote often and to vote their pocketbook"
