Rock The Youth Vote Up The Ying-Yang When it Comes to Health Care Reform!
AP does the math on increases to the kids' insurance premiums under ObamaCare:
Beginning in 2014, most Americans will be required to buy insurance or pay a tax penalty. That's when premiums for young adults seeking coverage on the individual market would likely climb by 17 percent on average, or roughly $42 a month, according to an analysis of the plan conducted for The Associated Press. The analysis did not factor in tax credits to help offset the increase.
Cap'n Ed Morrissey of HotAir spells out the irony:
During the entire ObamaCare debate, young voters consistently provided the most support for the government overhaul of the health-care system. Groups that encourage the youth vote campaigned in support of it, including the "F*** the Vote" campaign by Rock the Vote that had supporters pledging to only have sex with other Obama acolytes….
To put it in simpler terms, [younger voters] getting f***ed by the same people who pushed the "F*** the Vote" campaign and the Democrats. Had the younger voters taken the time to learn something about risk pools, insurance, and the experience of Massachusetts and Maine using the same kind of mandates, they'd have told Rock the Vote to f*** off. They still have the opportunity to deliver that message to Democrats in November.
All asterisks in original! It's a small price to pay for civilization, ain't it, young voters? Especially when insurance is not particularly linked to health outcomes?

I think the lesson here is that young people are stupid and easily taken advantage of by their elders. EG, every war fought for the past four millennia.
F***, yeah!
I remember that. This busty 20-year-old blond chick wanted to do me so bad, but she was a McCain supporter and I had to stand on principle.
"F*ck the Vote" seems about right. Once they see what Obama's done with their futures, I'm sure there are plenty of them who are going to be saying that in elections for the rest of their lives.
I'm 25 and I've been turning over the futility of voting since 2004 when I had my first opportunity. Then and now I see no acceptable parties or politicians with a chance of winning, and probably no chance of any states seceding. (And even if any did, I'm not sure they wouldn't descend into the same kinds of misery we have now.)
I figured the provisions to allow children up to 26 years old to stay on their parents insurance was their way of buying the young peoples votes.
What happens when that job goes away? They stay on mom & dad's new public plan?
It all depends on what your definition of F**k is.
I went about six years without health insurance -- the time between "falling off my parent's insurance" and "landing my first job that offered it" -- and if this law had been in place during that period, even assuming I got some el cheapo insurance plan for $200 a month (I don't know where I got that number from; perhaps I read somewhere that that will be the cost of the cheapest available mandatory insurance?) there would be zero difference in my personal physical well-being, but my net worth right now would be $12,000 lower, because all that money I'd put in savings would've gone to politically connected insurance companies instead.
Youth vote, that's a good one. Ha ha ha.
At this point, both major parties are totally controlled by the AARP, since old people vote and have nothing better to do than harass their congressmonsters. Young people are going to get f***ed whether they want it or not.
Very true. And eventually they will figure out that they weren't even given a reach-around.
"reach around" - nice 🙂
Heh heh, "congressmonsters".
I had this discussion last July with my nephew and his new wife, both of them in their 20s and she being a fervid Obama and HCR supporter. While she tried to point to the plight of uninsured children, I corrected her by pointing out that the vast majority of the money used in health care goes to guys like me: 50-ish, paunchy and sedentary. She really didn't have much to say when confronted with the undeniable fact that she, her hubby and her unborn baby were going to be saddled with massive taxes and debt to pay for my Lipitor.

If it were on any other Salem-owned site, there probably would've been more.
she, her hubby and her unborn baby were going to be saddled with massive taxes and debt to pay for my Lipitor Cialis.
Such a missed opportunity, Jeffersonian.
I thought it went without saying. I've got the mandatory dual clawfoot tubs sitting out back.
"paunchy and sedentary" I always wondered why it was two tubs.
I'm sure it's some sort of "arcane hydrotherapy".
You took the sexual pleasure imagery out of that add forever... but not for everyone;-)
Good. Here's a loofah!
margaritas at night, a loofah, and hydro colonics. Hmm, I think I'll write today.
I take it you are not amused. 😉
I'm always amused but I am N/A. Btw, a man's face in the morning is better than any loofah.
...just in case you need to bathe a patient;-)
meanwhile, I am going on the on vacation to Bolivia.
LOL That's what scrub techs and OR nurses are for.
Speaking of, time to slice and dice in 30.
I know you are N/A, non-issue. But if you wish to chat via Bolivia this eve, that would be enjoyable.
I kept the text from daughter #1 (college age, as is daughter #2) the day after HC passed:
"fuck socialized health care, joe biden and president obama"
Sniff...I'm so damned proud they're turning out OK....[wipes tear from eye]
PS No asterisks in original!
It is nice to hear about some non-stupid kids every now and then. Well done.
I would be proud of your little multitasker too:
fuck socialized health care,
joe biden,
and president obama!
Uncle Pervy, is that you again! You must have forgotten the last knee to your shriveled groin. The girls can take care of themselves. Have fun!
Yesterday, my sixteen and thirteen year old were both saying WTF to Waxman's calling up the CEOs. Make kids pay attention and you can prove to them who's right and who's wrong.
Thumbs up for the chirrens!
God, please make sure these stupid fucks check party affiliation before lopping off heads.
Careful. I'm a DINO in order to maximize the probability of voting out "my" congresscreatures.
Shit, I hope independents get a pass.
From the original article:
Wow, that's pretty fucking lazy of you to leave that out Gillespie.
